Come back when you pass high school.

you 8 the b8 m8
Miles Davis and Charles Mingus are the only jazz worth listening to and I've listened to a lot of jazz
>>61763670
are you being serious my friend? how can one like Miles but not like for example Bill Evans solo career? It does not make sense to me. if this is bait, it's pretty good bait.
>>61763014
my all time favorites are probably Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Charles Mingus, Sun Ra, Jon Hassell, Evan Parker and Eivind Aarset, but I also really like Dexter Gordon, Duke Jordan, Peter Brötzmann, Bobby Hutcherson and obviously the greats like Coltrane, Davis, Ellington and Dolphy. what do you like, anon?

Terje Rypdal, Min Bul, George Russell, the list goes on...
>>61763957
I really like your taste. care to make the list go on? I'm >> >>61763922

like flying lotus and kamasi washington, stuff like that. they incorporate jazz into their music and it makes me feel very smart
>>61764014
I honestly appreciate the time and effort you put into creating this meme just for me. you're the guy who doesn't really like jazz, are you? it's okay, maybe it just takes some times.
my dad introduced me to Miles' and Ellington's entire discog when I was thirteen or fourteen, I listened to nothing but that for two years.

going to seriousreply, because I long for the jazz chats
just pre-ordered the new Phronesis album because first 50 were numbered and signed
https://phronesistrio.bandcamp.com/album/parallax
teaser track sounds good
>>61766314
I've never been a particularly big fan of Phronesis, although I like Neame, but this is actually pretty tempting. Honestly, though, I could use another preview track at least

This is probably my favorite Jazz album of all time
Is Jeff Beck jazz?
>>61767227
Good taste.
is mayonnaise a jazz?
anyone got their hands on the new Fire! yet? It's officially out today, right?
I'm waiting for the local jazz specialist record store to have it in stock because I don't feel like paying for postage for one album and I want the LP
i really dig spiritual jazz and the early fusion stuff
Pharoah Sanders, Lonnie Liston Smith, Alice Coltrane, some of Coltrane's stuff around that period, Ackamoor for spiritual
Miles Davis is really his own kind of monster since everything from In a Silent Way up to On the Corner as pure essentials
i can fuck with most any jazz though as long as it isn't too "smooth" or with that dumb ass light chorusy guitar that some people started perpetuating
I recommend anything by Albert Ayler for some spiritual free jazz.
Haven't listened to a lot of Jazz but i'd say my favorite Jazz album is Charles Mingus' The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
>>61767469
I enjoy New Grass for it's "sell-out" contrasts between straight ahead r&b and Ayler's playing

Sanborn is more sickeningly 80's than Chick Corea's Elektric City music video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSJYlfHjrTE
>>61767586
yeah, I like it alot though. that song is pretty chill too.
The Epic is a good album, not amazing, but FAR from bad.
>>61767663
did you hear the recent Bobby Hutcherson album where Sanborn plays along with Billy Hart and Joey DeFrancesco
it's a pretty odd lineup, but kinda works

also coltrane and eventually coleman.
everything else is gay
on the topic of Sanborn being max 80's - did you know that he plays on this?

>>61767730
No, I'm new as fuck to this stuff. I still haven't quite developed a taste for this but it is nice.

Cannonball Adderley, Wayne Shorter, Ron Carter, Hank Mobley, Sam Rivers, Sonny Rollins, Marius Neset, Lars Danielsson, David Torn etc.
>>61768075
Marius Neset was just in the studio. Can't wait for the new album, Pinball was one of my favorites from last year
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrO5d4gkjog (yes, they are playing Birds-material but can't find any good Pinball -videos)
>>61763014
A lot of stuff
I'm not digging this Michael Brecker I'm listening to now though
>>61767558
you people make it sound like scaruffi has unique taste
>>61768179
I have a theory that Michael Brecker has the power to turn music into shit since he plays on Zappa in New York and Joni Mitchell's Shadows and Light that are both turning points where previously good artists start turning making bad albums
why the fuck does /mu/ underrate Horace Silver so hard
>>61768539
I don't know. He's one of the greats.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKGBLjjy-hQ
>>61768162
yeah i really enjoyed pinball cant wait to see what he does next.
>>61768539
If you like Horace Silver check out Finnish saxofonist Timo Lassy - he's pretty influenced by Silver and Cannonball Adderley (who also doesn't get posted on /mu/ a lot)
