bands that can do no wrong edition
this thing is still not out yet :(
gonna see Dragged into Sunlight & Gnaw Their Tongues tomorrow. excited.
>pic potentially related
Post shit you'd love to make
>really energetic and chaotic tech death/thrash sometimes going into grind with lots of different harsh vocal styles and excessive ammounts of BLEGH
>brutal melodeath/2nd wave bm hybrid
>sludge/harsh noise/ambient/industrial with extensive use of found item percussion and homemade effect units
>mathy, grindy black metal with bleak soundscapes
tfw literally none of my friends who are even into metal would be up for any of these
Black/Thrash/Heavy Metal ala Barathrum
Pitchshifted Gurgle-Slam with smooth Jazz solos and Big Band vocal leads
Blackened Rapcore/Nu Metal
Death/Black version of Van Canto
Well looks like new Blindead album won't come out soon since they are looking for a new vocalist
Two of their members have been ill for a while nowso a new album wasn't happening soon to begin with. Shame their vocalist left though.
Fuck that, where the hell is Bölzer's full-length?
I got this beauty the other day.
It's damn amazing
Fucking killer! I've got the three first albums on tape actually.
Have you seen them live?
I mainly hear ATHOW and SOND, but yes they are still pretty unique in terms of black metal, maybe it's the frog vocals that are making me draw comparisons, even then he takes the "ribbit" to a whole new level when compared with abbath
Is there any other black metal like this? It's nice to hear an epic black metal project that isn't about space or transcendental space mysticism because that generally leaves me cold, but what gets me about Griseus particularly is that it isn't just forest rock or even the 'song of my people' type Winterfylleth/Primordial black metal. It's extraordinarily ambitious, yet still clearly rooted in a worldly, natural, Romantic aesthetic. Is there any other contemporary BM artist like this?
Yeah the vocals are something for themselves.
But it's also something with the riffs. Very cosmic and obscure feeling to it.
The earlier stuff gives me more of a satanic feeling though. Ancient Monumental Way Hymn for example..
Do you guys think we'll get Volume 2 of History of Death and Burial Rituals any time soon? Maybe not this year, because the members are busy with the new Cult of Fire album, but this was one of my favorite releases last year. I want another one.
Also, holy shit, new Cult of Fire this year.
Dark ambient retrowave synth cross with acoustic rip offs of death riffs.
You mean strawman hipster faggots that you made up, or actual hipster faggots. Cause actual hipster faggots only listen to "underground" black and death metal aka shitty third rate Burzum, Darkthrone, Incantation and Autopsy clones.
>There are people here right now that genuinely think Sabaton are not one of the future classic Metal bands
First 4 decapitated albums, 1st psycroptic album, first 3 cryptopsy albums, 3,4 and 6 dying fetus albums, katalepsy - autopsychosis, 2nd, 3rd and 4th immolation albums, the last 5 cannibal corpse albums, abominable putridity 2nd album, both soreption albums, 3rd, 4th nile albums, both luciferion albums, first two arghoslent albums, 1st at the gates album, everything by bloodbath, everything by TOOH, demilich - nespithe, monstrosity 2nd album, wormed - exodromos, everything by diskord, lykathea aflame/appaling spawn, crimson massacre, spawn of possession - cabinet, everything by akercocke, ad nauseam, martyr 1st album, sarpanitum, horrendous, capharnaum, molested, gorod
All atleast an 8/10
Except it's those edgy contrarians that listen to Sabaton, taking every chance possible to tell you about "real music" and how intelligent and different the band is from all the other shitty music because their lyrics are "educational" and historical.
I just skimmed your post and seen Dying Fetus Cannibal Corpse and Bloodbath as examples of good death metal, I don't think we need to interact any more.
Also not to mention literally half the shit you mention is over 20 years old, which completely avoids my initial question.
In the early 2000's before Primo Victoria came out (and even after it came out) Sabaton were respected as one of the few modern groups that weren't symphonic fancy-lad prancy tights sissy-by Power Metal
Shame to see their legacy squandered with repetition
Makes sense, did you hear corpsegrinder's vocals on the first 2 monstrosity albums? His highs are fucking insane and he never really did them again in cannibal, atleast not to the same extent
>cannibal corpse is fucking awful bro-tier simple death metal
simple isn't an insult, using it as one makes it sound like you listen to overproduced prog metal and like tipping meme hats.
They're technical as fuck on their last 5 albums, also how can you critisize something for being simple when you yourself like the most generic dumbed down black metal bands that are simpler than top 40s pop
I do listen to overproduced prog, does that make my point any less valid?
first of all, technical doesn't mean it's not simple
the song structure can still be simple even if the riffs have a lot of notes in them
and this is not what most of cannibal corpse songs sound like anyway
speaking of Sepultura:
there's a black metal song with the same riff, but they go in a different direction with it
Can anyone remember a black metal song with this exact riff?
>decide to check out CC's newest after reading your post
>mfw that first track
This is fucking great.
you are right, it's not pleasant like this abomination https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX8GUwZcI_8
abbath's music is more transcendental desu
I really don't know how. Having good riffs, competent musicians, and boatloads of creativity. That said, I've been falling off the Opeth train since Deliverance, when Heritage hit and fell short of Damnation's glory, I just walked away.
NEW MORBID ANGEL TRACK FAGGOTS
I could barely stand to listen to it, so I didn't even make it through a whole playthrough of the album.
I would give it a low rating based on my experience, but I know I didn't listen to the whole thing I so I don't feel i can give an accurate rating.
are ROTN actually good? they look like a bunch of fags desu
Anywhere, they're consistent as fuck, but they do get better with each and every album
They're really good, unironically one of my favourite current bands, your tr00 metalhead alter ego will resist at first though
Rate my today's /metal/ purchases:
>Arghoslent - Incorrigible Bigotry
>Kroda - Fünf Jahre Kulturkampf
>Rimfrost - Veraldar Nagli
>They're really good, unironically one of my favourite current bands
Took the words right out of my mouth. I unironically think Welcame is one of the absolute best albums of the last couple of years. I'm eagerly waiting for a new album but I'm afraid that it won't be even half as good as Welcame.
Everything 2bh, just how pumped the music makes you overall, the catchy as fuck vocal phrasing, god-tier 11/10 choruses, very memorable songwriting and probably the most well done breakdowns I've ever heard
it was a good year for grind desu
is there anything
worse than nightwish?
majority of atmo black
If everyone just said that there would be nothing to talk about in this thread.
I just listened to "Rain upon the impure" again, and again it didn't really have the kind of effect on me I wanted
I'm listening to Darkspace I again to see if it's hypnotic and it's the closest so far
this has a couple dungeon synth moments
I say this again, it's already out :^)
Speaking of LH, what is "WHOOOAAHHHOHOOAAAAAOOOOOHHHAAA" man doing these days? Does he still sing metal?
If you like cannibal corpse you have shit taste in music, theyre literally awful. terrible in every fucking way. only an edgy teen with serious emotional issues would un-ironically listen to them.
Half of Cryptopsy's recent live sets have been taken from None So Vile, though.
Obituary are top-tier OSDM.
CC's last couple albums are among their best, right up there with their best 90s stuff.
I almost got to see cryptopsy back in may but the venue got rained out. I did kidna like obituary but they got fucked by scott "the wall" burns and cannibal corpse is gonna be good without a doubt.
>posting a more obscure Dis Pater side project
*epic synth swell*
SUDDEN GUST IN MY FACE, BURNING RAIN TORE THE CLOUDS
FROM THE DEPTH OF THE GLOAMING
doesn't really count as meme metal but
it sounds silly to make a grind/PV cover of a beloved new age post-punk song but not only is it as good and emotional as the original but they really made their own version and atmosphere
i love this cover a lot, is all i'm saying
I growl to crown of horns, slit your guts and phobophile just about every day
this collab desu
I've listened to this album enough times for it to be considered a meme.

This is wrong because black metal actually took off in the early nineties. It's wrong by definition that they played "blackened" thrash.
It was just thrash which was influential for the black metal genre.
thought you would say this but that still doesn't make the bands be black/thrash, they are considered black/thrash exactly for the reason of future black metal bands picking up on the genre and getting rid of the thrashy elements
the sounds is pretty much defined by the first three bathory albums which is where 2nd wave black metal takes biggest influence from, it's the same thing as with death-thrash pretty much
