how are songs like All The Madmen and The Man Who Sold the World not mucore? How is Low not mucore?
Actually, the reaction and circumstances of this album make it a possible contender for /mu/core (or at least a temporary 2016 /mu/core list). Just like the mass reaction to MPP, which isn't AnCo's best but still caused quite a stir.
i mean, isn't there a pretentiousness in making boring ass pop music, calling some of it experimental for no discernible reason, and flaunting around in costume after costume because you think you deserve attention for being le snowflake
please shut up, PLEASE SHUT UP
do you really want a board full of faggots that have listened to bohren and der club of gore, badbadnotgood, kamashi washington, the necks, fire! orchestra, and kind of blue
I honestly don't mind the /mu/core chart as long as it's used properly, as a starting point and not as a life line. I think the problem is that people will see this chart and only listen to albums without using these great albums to explore the respected artists' other albums or other albums of a similar nature. I mean, you can call them memes if you want but they're memed for a reason. Kind of Blue is a fantastic album and I will recommend it to anyone trying to get into jazz. However, if you listen to it once and think you're some kind of jazz connoisseur, you're a fucking idiot. So yeah, a jazz section would in theory be a good idea, but we all know what would happen.
I love Blackstar and think it is a 10/10 but it should really be put in Pitchforkcore with all the others.
Honestly though, at there should be a section for music from 1990-2016 That is seperate from P4K like instant classics or some shit.
Also it needs a Jazz section like hell.
Its not even rated incredibly high by pitchfork. Its one of the most important albums of the decade for a ton of reasons. It may be early to be considered /mu/core, but its really deserving of it personally.
Honestly Bowie's and Gira's respective discographies are essential listening, as both generate tons of discussion already about album ranking and their best album. You can't really choose one album to be /mu/core.
