Glad this is the OP, I barely see this posted, awesome jazzy dreamy post punk.
So what's the consensus on the new LSD and the Search for God EP? Is it better than the old one?
>>61743846
>Is it better than the old one?
Not by a long shot, but a couple of their best songs are on the new one.
So where did that "shoop da woop guitar" meme come from?
>>61743846
It's alright, I still need to let it grow on me.
>>61743846
I like it more than the old one, way more psychedelic.
>>61743755
Yeah it's one of my favorite dream pop albums.
What are the most underappreciated dream pop albums?
Is Blue Bell Knoll the best CT album and is The Itchy Glowbo Blow their best song?
>>61743846
Shit I still need to listen to it.
I think rock music is pretty much dead and that's why shoegaze can't produce any more breakout stars even though I like the new music coming out.
We should put links to previous threads in the OPs.

bump for this album being amazing

Not even the best song in BBK big fella
Is Robin Guthrie's drum programming the best drum programming?
>>61744110
how is rock music dead exactly?
>>61745114
It's pretty fucking good. No one ever talks about how great the drums sound on CT albums.

Is this really a flawless album like chris ott says?
>>61743718
Nice, thanks for this.
do we like perfect hair forever (the band not the show)
>>61746276
Nope but its pretty good. Cuckoo is better.
really want some shoegaze featuring arabic style melodies and strings 2bh
This is pretty heavy dudes I'm feelin this! Unh Unh Unh!
>>61745275
Nobody cares about albums anymore. All popular music focuses on singles, and that just isnt how rock music is produced. Hopefully Blackstar becomes popular and we see a resurgence of popular music focusing on full albums, but i don't see that happening.
Why is all japanese shoegaze so twinkly and twee?
Is there a heavier side to it to be found anywhere?
>>61747288
Xinlisupreme - Tomorrow Never Comes
>>61747072
I always hope live shoegaze albums end up sounding noisier but this wasn't and it left me disappointed.
>>61747453
Also it's not really heavy but it's probably the most abrasive shoegaze album.
>>61747072
I actually like this more than the actual albums.
>>61747681
Their next album is more abrasive but it's also poppier.
>>61743718
What is the shoegaze obsession with Jazzmasters all about?
>>61748127
I think indie as a whole as an obsession with jassmasters. Probably cause all the musicians they're trying to emulate used jazzmasters.
>>61748127
Is the guitar on the cover of loveless as jazzmaster?

>>61748289
Yeah.

What's the best shugazi album cover?
>>61743718
I actually found the Dif Juz album really underwhelming. The track they did for the Lonely is an Eyesore compilation is unbelievably good, but the full-length falls a little flat has those obnoxious saxophones that kill it for me.
>>61743846
It's really short but it's in the top 5% of shoegaze for sure.
>>61747453
Xinlisupreme is bad and you know it.
>>61749247
I love that cover, the album is not that great but I still forced myself to listen to it a few times extra just because of the cover.
Tweegaze reccs?

Also Nowhere and Less that Zero / Urban Twilight.
Is that last part of Boxing Day shoegaze?
>>61749780
Why would you even care at all?
>>61749780
yeah but no one's going to separate that part of the song just to call it shoegaze

>>61750516
Yeah dude ur the only guy in the world that has seen eyes wide shut.
>>61750528
i guess i just figured their taste in movies would be as trash level as their taste in shoegaze
>>61750550
Implying Distressor is a bad album.
Btw I'm the same guy that you asked, that answered you and that said xinlisupreme is bad.
>>61750550
If their taste in film was bad of course they'd have seen Eyes Wide Shut
>>61750602
>likes whirr
>says xinlisupreme is bad
i guess that makes sense
>>61750636
That's correct. But something you see doesn't define your taste, I guess you'd never understand that since you have a trip.
>>61750643
As if I'm going to discuss my taste with you. Do you control what you like? Can you change what you like?
Although going to those lenghts of mental gymnastics to persuade yourself that xinlisupreme is good is dangerous per health.

What does this sound like? Will I like it if I don't like The Veldt?
Do we still like APTBS?
lol
>>61748127
>>61748196
Elvis Costello, Television, and Sonic Youth.
Jazzmasters sold like shitcakes and ended up as cheapish pawnshop guitars. The above mentioned started using them, and SY was straight up hoarding them before their FL value jumped.
If I send Pity Sex my depressive and noisy shoegaze EP, will they cosign me?
>>61751743
Shut up, man
>>61752416
probably not but it's worth a shot
>>61751429
I'm wearing one of their shirts so yeah I do.
>>61751743
Actually good, especially if you like whirr.
Is there any regular shoegaze with blast beats or would that just make it blackgaze?

>>61753152
Ceremony >>>>> APTBS
>>61751429
I actually really like Transfixiation.
>>61753775
Honestly most of my problems with that album are with the horrible, overly compressed sound. Since everything sounds loud and digital, there's no dynamic left, causing the whole thing to sound boring imo

Samefagging but
I will never understand why this isn't well known.
It's like a blackgazey Cocteau Twins and features an amazing lineup of talented musicians
R. Loren - vocals / textures
J. Leah - vocals
Ted Parsons (Swans, Jesu, Godflesh) - drums
Simon Scott (Slowdive) - electronics
Aidan Baker (Nadja)- guitar
Colin Marston (Krallice, Dysrhythmia)- guitar
Vern Rumsey (Unwound)- bass
Prurient (Dominick Fernow of Hospital Productions, Cold Cave, etc)-
noise / electronics
James Blackshaw (Young God Records)- piano
Hildur Gudnadottir (Touch Records)- cello
Aaron Stainthorpe (My Dying Bride)- vocals on 2
Jonas Renkse (Katatonia)- vocals on 3
Marissa Nadler (Kemado Records)- vocals on 8

What are the best headphones for shoegaze? Budget is around $200
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f78AjF5DP0o
>>61768501
It's a good album for sure, but it really isn't like cocteau twins no matter how many times you say it. There are some victorialand-era-robin guthrie-ish guitar sounds on a few tracks, but that's about as far as I can see the comparison going.

So I wanna make some shoegaze type stuff and I'm trying to figure out how to make a recording sound good and I'm pretty pleased with how the guitars sound, but I'm not into the drum recording. I'm just looking for a second opinion, this isn't a song or anything just kind of a recording test.
>>61746907
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
>>61751429
I like them but their albums always suffer from too much unpleasant noise wankery and not enough actual music.
>>61774596
I don't really hear any straight noise in their material though?

I'm listening to it right now, drumming reminds me of lantlos' softer parts. The noisy climax at the end of She Calls is 10/10.
