As weird as it may seem, Kanye West is our generation's David Bowie. He is the next artist whose death will ripple across the globe and leave the earth breathless.
Unconvinced? Both are known for their perfected albums. They both transcend decades, and are often hailed for their ability to be amorphous in terms of musicality and artistry. On top of being a musician, Bowie acted and wrote plays. On top of being a musician, Kanye is a fashion mogul.
Also, both are the biggest names in music that are adored by both music-philes and casual listeners alike.
I for one look forward to Kanye's next decades of amazing outputs.
Honestly Kanye isn't that great and is widely regarded as a pompous ass, throwing money at the fashion scene to let him in.
Regardless of taste, his influence isn't nearly as big. He's had successful album releases and certainly leads as far as recent artists go but I think people see him more as a marketer then a visionary, and that's an important distinction. He is able to consistently make money but he hasn't shown us much more then what other top artists have provided. He just does them "better".
That's all valid for his role as a fashionista but his musical influence is staggeringly deep. Drake wouldnt exist if not for Kanye. Do you remember the hip hop scene prior to College Dropout and Kanye working as a producer? It hasn't been the same since
honest question since I don't follow hiphop that closely, why is kanye considered to be such a legend? I never really cared for him but every now and then someone posts this and many agree
His music transcended hip-hop, he is literally one of the greatest musicians to ever live, if you listen to his entire discography you will understand this. He is the most influential artist of the 21st century and his approach to music is that of a genius.
Pretty much every one of his albums, and a ton of the albums he produced on before rapping on his own, determined what hip hop would sound like for the next few years.
Yeezus is the only exception to this that I can think of.
Nope. Kanye is a bit of a bigot and a huge ignorant shithead, whereas David Bowie was as intellectual and liberal as they come, and a likable fellow in general. Also David Bowie never touted a massive ego, he just became a white supremacist for a little while, and that was just the side effects of the cocaine.
I do enjoy Yeezy's music, not to the extent of a dickrider, but I think I'm only being honest when I say in 30 or so years Kanye West will be praised and not seen as "muh arrogance/ego". Possibly to the level of Bowie.
Screencap this and wait 30 years.
Kanye West is pretty much proto-memerap, one of the original artists of the meme-rap generation making early meme-rap.
David Bowie confirmed for using proto-meme-magic to summon meme-rap. Young Thug has been assigned as the meme-rap artist to be spiritual successor of Bowie now that he has gone.
Bowie was the Holy Spirit, Yeezy the Father, and Young Thug is the Son.
>bigot and a huge ignorant shithead
>intellectual and liberal
>implying white supremacy is only acceptable as some form of drug-induced pathology
nice memes and bait intended to even further derail this bait thread
This is already confirmed m8.
Kanye will be the type of music artist there will be plenty of documentaries made about throughout the course of his life and long after his passing.
not him but: >>61699531
this post is fact
He's critically acclaimed and commercially sucessful. While that doesn't necessarily mean his music is good, It definitely means a large number of people think his music his good. I think his music has a part in why he'll be remembered/documented in the future
