One thing I learned is that everyone has their own taste in music. And each of them has their own reason for liking it or not.
For example, I can't understand what's the appeal of songs like "Stairway to Heaven" or "Highway to Hell" which many consider to be the Bible of music or something. I try to value music piece by piece, without outright dismissing it or blindly accepting it. Stating an opinion on music based on its source without listening to it is the equivalent of ad hominem.
However, the reason some people like videogame/anime OST is because it's tied to memories they had with them. For example:
I can perfectly recall the scene where this piece is played and that's why I'm so fond of it. If I didn't watch the show then maybe I wouldn't notice anything special about this music. But that doesn't mean the whole OST is great.
Also, some pieces are enjoyable on their own:
I haven't played the game, but I'm a big ragtime fan, so I have this piece on my playlist.
The problem with OST afficionados is that they don't look for other music and just settle down with what they have.
And no, I don't listen to OST exclusively.
So to answer your question OP.
I'm glad they enjoy it.
idk some video game music is alright
One of my best friends pretty much just listens to video game music. He works at Gamestop and even has a copy of the Super Smash Bros soundtrack in his car.
He also has a qtp2t artsy gf, a college degree, and friends. For his birthday I got him a Broken Bells CD and that got him out of the OST realm a bit. He also listens to NMH and AJJ a lot.
I don't know; I think it's really funny he's really into video game music, but he's a pretty good human being overall and doesn't really fall in the stereotype most of you have given to people like that.
>tl;dr yall fags
Not sure, I found it on facebook posted by this girl I went to HS with who thinks vaccination gives people autism and the governments out to get you. She basically wears a suit of tinfoil armor at this point. So, I highly doubt it there's any truth to that.
If the game has an OST that could fit in a serious movie like Halo and Silent Hill then it's aight. If it's some 8-bit Mario shit, they're autistic neckbeards that I'd rather stay away from.
mfw the only Bowie song to get stuck in my head is the one from the San Andreas soundtrack
It's not, there certainly are games and animes that have soundtracks on par with movies. What I'm criticizing is the childish or 8-bit Mario shit that neckbeards fap to.
>If it's some 8-bit Mario shit, they're autistic neckbeards that I'd rather stay away from.
I have a feeling YOU are an autistic neckbeard.
making fun of autists/accusing each other of autism is pretty much the foundation of all banter on 4chan and its been that way for years.
if have a problem with that then you don't belong here
Game OST: depends on what
Anime: tighten your fedora till it cuts off oxygen to your brain.
Ok, sometimes actual musicians, producers and composers are brought in to work on them
Literally bottom of the barrel shit within its own native market or it features some uninspired orchestral score.
your characteristics make me belive you are a good person
Please can someone tell me what the right the instrument or sound is that starts playing (and continues) at the very beginning of this music? Thank you in advance.
