how did everyone find out about bowie's death?

i was about to go to bed around 2 in the morning when i saw the news on my facebook. i wasn't a megafan by any means, but i still found myself just floored. i had no idea what to do, so i just listened to hunky dory. i cried when quicksand came on.

It's actually really wild. Some reason I woke up at 4am in the middle of the night (OK, I had to piss). So I piss and I go back to bed. Thing is though I use my headphones to play white noise because thin walls.

I bring up my phone's lock screen and it shows me the email from NPR Breaking News saying David Bowie has died.

Was slackjawed for a good 30 seconds, debating whether I should just get up now and see what's going on. Ended up sleeping until 6am. ruined my day though.

And wouldn't you know it, none of the people at my college of music seemed to give a shit.

i was actually able to see him at the allstate arena back in the 80s. i camped out for those tickets with a friend of mine, and once the show ended turns out my friends brother camped out for tickets for the show the next day. an experience ill never forget man, glad i got to see him

i didnt really have any feelings until i drove to school. i listened to Blackstar on the way there and cried.

They won't because people would be pissed that it was a clickbait cash-grab. I 100% think they should though. As many people have already pointed out, this extra context that he was drying makes the album different. The album we heard last week isn't quite the same as the one we are hearing today. I have always been a "context is irrelevant" guy but this has forced me to reevaluate.

Stayed up way too late for a Sunday night and decided to check /mu/. Got here half an hour after this thread was made. I thought it was a joke at first until I checked the link. After that I went into shock for about two minutes and then looked through news outlets. I listened to Heroes twice and cried during the title track both times and fell asleep two and a half hours after I wanted to. I've been pretty down today.

I couldn't sleep because I had been too itchy. I missed the initial storybreak but when I woke up I saw "Bowie has died..." my roomate called me from school and we talked about for a solid hour. I woke our other roomate up to tell him. He was so upset he wouldn't even get out bed.
