how did everyone find out about bowie's death?
i was about to go to bed around 2 in the morning when i saw the news on my facebook. i wasn't a megafan by any means, but i still found myself just floored. i had no idea what to do, so i just listened to hunky dory. i cried when quicksand came on.
the review itself was really positive. i feel like an 8.5 for musical legends is the new route (see also: dr. dre's latest)
It's actually really wild. Some reason I woke up at 4am in the middle of the night (OK, I had to piss). So I piss and I go back to bed. Thing is though I use my headphones to play white noise because thin walls.
I bring up my phone's lock screen and it shows me the email from NPR Breaking News saying David Bowie has died.
Was slackjawed for a good 30 seconds, debating whether I should just get up now and see what's going on. Ended up sleeping until 6am. ruined my day though.
And wouldn't you know it, none of the people at my college of music seemed to give a shit.
i was actually able to see him at the allstate arena back in the 80s. i camped out for those tickets with a friend of mine, and once the show ended turns out my friends brother camped out for tickets for the show the next day. an experience ill never forget man, glad i got to see him
i went to sleep really early so missed all the intial facebook statuses and whatnot.
so i woke up to the news which was awful.
i didnt really have any feelings until i drove to school. i listened to Blackstar on the way there and cried.
I actually don't know where my Monday went.
I saw the news before my drive to work and nearly lost it listening to Ziggy on the drive. I choked up again at work reading Brian Eno's statement about Bowie's last email to him.
she's telling the internet (i.e. the false world), NOT IRL world (real life) that she is not involved in a romantic relationship with a fellow music critic named Marcel
so, she is implying that she is indeed involved in a romantic relationship with Marcel, but IRL
Got up this morning and glanced over at my phone.
I had fallen alseep listening to an album, and my ears hurt. My phone was at 2%.
I leaned over and saw a notification
"David Bowie dead..."
I was so upset
I was jerking it really homoerotic futa shit with a twitch stream in the background when the streamer said 'holy shit, is Bowie actually dead?'
I'm now emotionally scarred into permanent vanilla heterosexuality.
They won't because people would be pissed that it was a clickbait cash-grab. I 100% think they should though. As many people have already pointed out, this extra context that he was drying makes the album different. The album we heard last week isn't quite the same as the one we are hearing today. I have always been a "context is irrelevant" guy but this has forced me to reevaluate.
Dead Sara - Pleasure To Meet You 8.3 BNM
Forever and Ever...
>pitchfork already trying to monetize bowie's death by bumping up the dollar days BNT to the top spot for more clicks
>already trying to push their agenda with the DUDE FAGS LMAO pitch article that's gonna be at the top spot for weeks
i've had it with this shitty site
Fucking put a trip on so I can filter you, Meghan Garvey you jealous whore
No one likes you
She looks so cute and tuff at the same time
I want her to bully me by tickling my tummy until i almost pee jaja
Its nothing, Marcel the beta orbiter has been here trying to spread rumors that Zoe kissed him but its obvious it wasn't true and thats why she @ him to call him out on his lies.
Zoe only kisses girls, cats, puppies, and me one day
you know pitchfork is in a pitiful state when ian cohen is the best guy they have on staff
Give it one more day, fearless Quads boy. An event as big as this needs time for them to analyze what to do and rewrite it properly from a PR and review aspect. Also, giving it a day will make it seem less impulsive.
Stayed up way too late for a Sunday night and decided to check /mu/. Got here half an hour after this thread was made. I thought it was a joke at first until I checked the link. After that I went into shock for about two minutes and then looked through news outlets. I listened to Heroes twice and cried during the title track both times and fell asleep two and a half hours after I wanted to. I've been pretty down today.
I couldn't sleep because I had been too itchy. I missed the initial storybreak but when I woke up I saw "Bowie has died..." my roomate called me from school and we talked about for a solid hour. I woke our other roomate up to tell him. He was so upset he wouldn't even get out bed.
I never cared about Space Oddity, but hearing it now, I almost teared up in the middle of the day. Now listening to Let's Dance on vinyl.
