why hasn't everyone listened to this one yet?
>>
>>61661355
idk man it's better than horsedrawn wishes.

ages and violence to violence are incredible songs.
>>
how much longer will this thread stay up? is /shugazi/ finally recognized as a place for music discussion or is it still continually getting deleted? kind of annoying considering it was one of my favorite general threads to discuss and discover new music in..
>>61661355
I haven't explored the genre as much as I should, mostly going by the flowcharts posted in the older threads and rym top albums. Added this to my daily listen list, I listen to like 8 hours of music a day so this will get some listened to at some point today. Any standout tracks/themes/elements I should look for?
>>
>>61661553
I don't really know about the themes on the album cause I'm an idiot, but you could hear a lot of Mercury Rev similarities on it, and just a generally more psychedelic approach to noise pop. >>61661457 said those are pretty standout tracks, I'd agree.
>>
>>61661849
Nice, I'm excited to give it a listen as a big fan of Mercury Rev and psychedelic noise pop.
>>
>>61661457
i once tried to sample ages in a beat

http://www.vocaroo.com/i/s0nwOO3ibBm0

I don't really make beats though.
>>
>>61661849
Yeah they also toured with Mercury Rev.
Also Kevin Shields' brother was in it.

Check out Chlorine Gargoyle
>>

Downloaded the album, will give it a listen later on probably. Thanks for the recommendation!
>>
>>61661553
I don't know but I dread coming to /mu/ because of the memes but I love /shugazi/. I missed a lot of these threads but at least I was active when the first one was made and a few subsequent ones.

What do you want to know about shoegaze?
>>
http://youtu.be/FBgB1GCn6pA
Will they ever start using shoegaze sounds again?

Any good nu-gaze acts I should know about? I found/discovered a fair share through here, especially JP shoegaze bands like Toyko Shoegazer, but I'm always open to new suggestions. I feel I've covered a lot of the classic albums, but I'm always open to recs as far as that's concerned too. I've gone through the majority of pic related

Nice, listen to their other album too.
>>
>>61662282
nope but added it to my list, thanks!
>>61662382
there's a good five or so I haven't on there so I'll add those to the list too. thanks again guys.
>>
Thoughts on Perfect Hair Forever? I think they have a lot of filler/rubbish tracks but man some of their songs really pop.
>>
>>61662400
definitely will.

I really love this genre, i think it just clicks with me more than any other genre.

What are some good albums to listen to after im done with my obligatory Bowie binge?
>>
>>61661553
Yesterday there was a Sunday night edition of the thread, but was deleted after one post, like you said. Why are they doing this?
>>
>>61662637
Not sure honestly. Especially since waifu threads get to last for hundreds of posts and there is 0 music discussion. My guess is they are deleting them due to inactivity or someone is constantly reporting it. Both are just theories of mine though, the real reason, I'm not sure.
>>
>>61662499
Don't know them, which songs or releases are good?
>>
>>61662007
There are a few duds here and there but overall it's a pretty solid bandcamp release
>>
>>61662637
not the same anon, but i really do love this general.

maximum quality recs and discussion with minimal shitposting.
>>
>>61662499
not bad, but you're right about the filler and rubbish
>>
It's hard for me to find nice albums.

It's either too noisy, too vapid, too much about relationships, too dark/heavy.

I found some emo to entertain me but shoegaze and tweegaze is what I crave.
>>
>>61662838
Do you think Pity Sex is vapid?
>>
>>61662838
>too much about relationships
>I found some emo to entertain me
Not making fun of you, but I find this to be a really puzzling situation.
>>
>>61662838
>emo
>not vapid
>not about relationships

You can ignore the lyrics in ~70% of shoegaze. It's about the sound and the lyrics are often non-sensical anyway. What have you liked so far?
>>
>>61662720
They have (or have had) a lot of free releases up on their bandcamp. All songs are pretty short anyway, so it doesn't hurt to check out multiple 'albums' anyway. I liked MALL-O-CAUST.. it does get repetetive after a while though, even with such short songs.
>>
It's hard for me to genuinely assume that they've created their music with purpose enough to warrant my listening time or whether they made some noises they deemed acceptable and individualistic enough to obscure their total lack of compositional ability.
>>
>>61663195

>>
>>61663241
Why do you think they lack compositional ability?
>>
>>61662930
>>61663059
In emo I don't care.

In shoegaze I care.

Am I a bad guy?
>>
>>61663195
This always bothers me in shoegaze.
>>
>>61663551
Nah like what you like, I just found it to be a bit strange. Everyone has their own taste though, who am I to judge?
>>
>>61663551
ha, no. That's completely fair.
>>
How can you guys like shoegaze so much? Literally every album is just trying to sound like Loveless but nowhere near as good.
>>
>>61665134
lots, yeah, but definitely not all.
try this >>61662208 out
>>
>>61665166
I should have mentioned that I wouldn't mind a Loveless clone if it was as good or at least almost as good
