Why did this album get forgotten? It actually holds up against the rest of Massive Attack's releases

Yes, it does. At the same time, however, it's very different from all that went before it. I can only listen to it start-to-finish. If I just listen to songs from it, less than half the album gets played.

My dad loves trip hop
he hasn't forgotten it
This is without a doubt their best release I loeve Mezzanine and 100th Window too but they don't even come close to the raw emotional power of Heligoland. Also the order of the songs is just perfect... for example the way that Psyche feels like you are hanging on the edge of sanity, and Flat of the Blade is like falling right off the edge.

I wish they'd just release an EP with whatever live material they had around 2008. Dobro, Red Light and All I Want sounded amazing. I won't keep my hopes up though - I think 3D's tastes have changed since then.

the cover is much worse than their other albums

It is, although I do like some of 3D's paintings
because of that album cover.

the fuck is wrong with the album cover?
>>61636353
nothing
it's pretty aesthetic senpai
i honestly think it's their second best album, the production is really fucking good on it
massive attack's early albums, other than mezzanine, haven't aged well, the electronics just sound too dated now

Amazing album, but too many exciting things happening at the time of its release
