Was there ever such thing as good Metalcore?
Low quality bait but whatever
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnhYQ4BaD-k
Yes.
No, it's all shit.
>Converge (middle period)
>Botch
>Union of Uranus
That's pretty much it for me.
Depending on where you put them genre-wise:
Protest the Hero
Dillinger Escape Plan
>>61630971
What's wrong with early/late Converge?
albums
waking the fallen
ascendancy
the poison
the fall of ideals
shadows are security
of love and lunacy
as daylight dies
Earth Crisis
yeah, there were shit tons of good metalcore bands coming through in the 90's. Integrity, Starkweather, Arkangel, Acme, early Earth Crisis, Ascension, and on and on and on. The genre didn't get fucked up until melodic metalcore like Darkest Hour popped up, and then it got worse with scene garbage. People who cite Converge and DEP as the only good metalcore bands have literally no clue what they're talking about.
Twitching Tongues would be good if they didn't have a buttrock vocalist
Is Cave In metalcore?
>>61632305
Hahahah no
>>61632247
Early Converge is just not as good. They just got better at their instruments and at songwriting that's all.
Late Converge is too grandiose and self-indulgent and boring and atmospheric metal.
>>61632346
Until Your Heart Stops is. And it's just okay.

7 Angels 7 Plagues, Shai Hulud, Skycamefalling, Hopesfall (The Satellite Years album), Misery Signals (early albums) are the bands I associate with good Metalcore but are never mentioned on this board. They're mostly influenced by Melodic Hardcore and Post-Hardcore from the 90s. I grew up listening to them.
Of course bands like >>61632326 that are reminiscent of New School Hardcore are great too, even though that was a little before my time. And Mathcore stuff like Converge, Botch, DEP are excellent but are frequently discussed here.
>>61630971
Union of Uranus is good
>>61630906
Prob my fav. Any bands sound like them?
killwhitneydead
>>61632472
Pleb
all good metalcore is mathcore desu
>>61632326
I'm just glad someone posted Starkweather.
An Ocean Between Us by AILD is actually gud
>>61634599
Metalcore with odd time signatures =/= mathcore
>>61630874
Norma Jean and The Chariot
That's about it, realy
Mathcore and 90s metalcore sucks, to be quite honest. Fitting that it's the only metalcore /mu/ likes
>>61630874
Integrity
Converge
Botch
Dillinger Escape Plan
Gaza
Rorschach
Merauder
Really metalcore was a pretty decent genre in the 90s. All the scene kids started coming in when the genre became more melodic and infused with post hardcore.
>>61635289
What is the Metalcore you like? Please don't tell me shit like Protest the Hero or Periphery
>>61634954
they put out an unmastered version of a new track the other day. fucking 28 minute long insanity.
>>61630874
metalcore is for kids, cucks or posers, now fuck off
>>61635349
pretty good list
converge are tight as hell
>>61635513
>Euronymous

>>61635584

>>61635349
I'm >>61630971
What's a Gaza and Marauders?
>>61635475
not them but Protest the Hero is the only metalcore band i enjoy
>>61630874
>>61630949
>>61632453
A lot, if you ask me. But again, depends on your taste andmusic of choice.
>>61632305
Not really bruh
>>61635475

Deathcore but still applies

>>61632326
But there's even good late-2000s metalcore bands that have grown from 90's metalcore influence and/or hardcore influence.

>7 Angels 7 Plagues, Shai Hulud, Skycamefalling, Hopesfall (The Satellite Years album), Misery Signals (early albums) are the bands I associate with good Metalcore but are never mentioned on this board
They tend to be mentioned every now and then, but they seem to be the only pseudo-consensus on good metalcore.

Pretty generic sound imo

Those are tight bands
But there's an ocean of bands metalcore and there are many other than 'the classics' making interesting music out there.
>>61630874
August Burns Red and Misery Signals have some decent songs.
>>61636027
Scurrilous is their best album. As long as you don't take lyrics into account

>>61632429
What did you think of their most recent album
>>61630874
Allededly, converge is/was metalcore. Don't know if i agree with that, but i guess they're one.
>>61638101
I heard "An Arrow in Flight" and it bored me. My fav album was You Fail Me.
>>61638230
Really? Haven't listened to them in a while, but their new album is probably the most like You Fail Me. Hardcore the whole way through, it doesn't let up
Converge
Botch
The Chariot
This Day Forward
Breather Resist
The Dillinger Escape Plan
The Number Twelve Looks Like You
Early Norma Jean
Coalesce
The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza
Between The Buried and Me
Burden of a Day
Protest the Hero
Poison the Well
Converge are pretty fucking extraordinary, they're the Deftones of their crappy metal genre
>>61630874
no
It's all fucking cringe as shit. Music for special snowflake normies
Speaking of special snowflakes, where are all the emoe threads? I liked them. Did the OP finally kill himself?
Zao's s/t and tfiwkuh are pretty good.
As far as old school shit goes Merauder kicks ass, more groove than metalcore though
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu5nGUOlt2Q
>>61638275
Btbam is not metalcore
heaven shall burn were always quite extraordinary

>>61638271
Maybe I'll check it out a little more. Thanks.
>>61638493
The old stuff is. And they still do have hardcore influence, just not quite enough to be metalcore anymore
