>>61625374
well david bowie is known for being androgynous so i understand why you thought that. those guys are just being bullies
>>61625026
Damn...
This is a fucking insane album.
It's not Bowie being a character : it's Bowie looking at both the past and the present. The album packaging references the berlin trilogy, and the mouth organ sample at the beginning of "I Can't Give Everything away" is taken from "A New Career In A New Town". Also, the lyrics are talking about being old. But they are also about what it is to be David Bowie. it's Bowie looking at what he is now : the pop music itself. He doesn't care about anything. He glues industrial drums to powerful guitars, upbeat bass with weird saxophones. He is a legend and can do whetever he wants.
It's a good version of Black Tie White Noise mixed with the berlin trilogy and the production/mixing/songwwriting of the 90s/2000s. It's one of his best albums.
>>61624973
superior cover coming through to be quite honest family
>>61630434
Yeah it's essentially a mix of Outside, BoS and BTWN.
The Next Day was him looking backwards, every song on there could have been on a previous album. I wouldn't be surprised if most weren't newly written, Born in a UFO was written for Lodger originally. With Blackstar, there's hints of the past but it's feels fresh.

>it's actually a movie still
>>61630553

Sue has lots of Earthling vibes, and the synth sounds in I Can't Give Everything Away are reminiscent of Hours...
Seems Bowie looked back at a lot of stuff and used it to push himself in this new direction and as a Bowie fan you can really engorge yourself when you listen to it.
>>61627010
Actually you're worse

that's the alternative cover used in North America because the record company didn't think US audiences would react well to a dude in a dress
>>61625355
this cover was inspired by Marlene Dietrich so that one's totally reasonable
Damn son... Lazarus is the shit! Did anyone here listen the one with Michael C Hall? It's good too.
