I want to live inside this cover.

I think your question does not mean what you think it means.

>mockery is never better than what it's mocking
Zappa cover is better, cause it calls the beatles out for continuing in the wake of pauls death for the sake of profits.
>>61613672
>>61613720
also, if there were no Frank Zappa, there would be no Sgt. Pepper. The beatles too direct inspiration from Zappa, Paul even referred to Sgt. Pepper as the Beatles version of Freak Out, so in a way Zappa is the progenitor here.
better
>>61613720
they were only trying to get money to build a time machine, save paul and visit the very first cannabis plant
>>61613698
even if it's a meme it's my favorite DEVO cover
>>61613754
Why do people say "If there was no X, there'd be no Y". It's asinine. Obviously The Beatles would have still released an album and I imagine it wouldn't be much different to Pepper.
>>61613817
if there was no jesus christ, you wouldn't be here
>>61613754
wait, weren't they inspired to make it by Pet Sounds, also Freak Out isn't a direct parody of anything
I think Magical Mystery Tour had a better cover.
>>61613330
Easy.
>>61613817
But that's the whole argument people have for sgt pepper's, that without it no good popular music would exist and that's why it's relevant. The worse part is Scaruffi was right other people were being more innovative at the time and the beatles just copied them.
>>61613817
that's completely inaccurate. You can't just assume whatever alternate history suits you. my assertion is built on the parameters of historical reality and you are dismissing it by taking a figure of speech strictly literally like an autist. There is no reason to discount their own admitted influence from Zappa. Paul literally said he considered it the Beatles Freak Out.
>>61613869
they were also inspired by that, but Zappa is the where the concept album idea came from. Rubber Soul, Pet Sounds etc, pioneered the concept of an album, but Zappa went ahead of that and made the idea of a concept album, which was an idea that captivated the Beatle imagination. In sort, this was the beginnings of progressive rock. Abby Road is also basically prog rock also. If they had kept going, it would have gone full prog and people would commonly recognize it as such. As it is I guess it's proto prog.
>>61613916
The second half of Freak Out is awesome, but the first half could disappear forever for all i care (minus Brain Police).
People were being more innovative, but The Beatles fine-tuned those innovations into something very palatable. Nothing about the album is pretentious, which is a pretty great accomplishment considering the sounds they used on Mister Kite or Day in the Life
>>61613981
>Taking a figure of speech literally like an autist
>If there was no Zappa there'd be no Beatles
How else was it meant to be taken? Metaphorically?
So what if Paul compared it to Zappa, it doesn't really share much with anything Zappa had written. He might have been an inspiration but you can't make some offhand statement that therefore Zappa is better or that Pepper is somehow less valid because of that.
>>61613330
Magical Mystery Tour has a better album cover and the US version is a better album than Sgt Pepper
>>61614148
who is the walrus in this picture?
>>61614086
Yes. It was just the ramblings of a fool.

this cover is pretty cool t b h
>>61614409
did you just call an anonymous text writer you have never seen ugly and think it was a good comeback?
>>61614499
With respect, the whole dis of 'you're missing the ugliest part of your body' wasn't exactly gold to begin with
>>61614499
>being this autistic
>>61614533
yes it was, it was a reference to the Zappa album we have been talking about and has been posted. The insult was very appropriate. The fact you don't know the reference speaks to your being unqualified to engage in music discussion here.
>>61614534
making a post that is identical to millions, contributing nothing because you are nothing. lamo
Both Sgt Peppers and White Album covers are some of the best album covers ever. Can't think of any other remarkable examples.
>>61613983
>The second half of Freak Out is awesome, but the first half could disappear forever for all i care (minus Brain Police).
Brain Police is one of my favorite songs ever, but all the songs from the album are great.
Also, pretentious as a critique is something that needs to stop.
>>61613330
literally everything on http://vortexofcrap.bandcamp.com is better
>>61614679
HAHAHA
DIdn't get a reference to a lyric so I'm unqualified to talk about music. Sure. That's how it works.
>>61614271
Some say your nose
>>61614435
Actually so good
>>61614810
Noses are pretty aesthetic. If we didn't have them we'd look like a bunch of alien apes
>>61614354
what? Music Has the Rights to Children was made in 1998...
>>61614924
I've listened to Zappa plenty I just didn't get the reference. Please stop because your autism might rub off
>>61615122
Someone's parents vaccinated them as a kid...
>>61615165
fuck off. what I have said is common knowledge among popular music historians and you are a clueless halfwit
>>61613330
You are a fool that hasn't yet realized commercialism has conditioned you to think that this cover is noteworthy or that any of the music on it is extraordinary compared to the band's contemporaries
>>61613330
>asks a question
>prove me wrong
???
>>61615236
We're talking about Sgt. Pepper, not The Mona Lisa
>>61613810

I hate those kind of covers.
Pic related is one of my favorites.
