What 2016 releases have you heard so far? There are already quite a few classical releases.
I ended up listening to that Screaming Headless Torsos album about 4 times yesterday
recommend me mindblowing choral music similar to mozart's requiem cuz I love it so much
this is babby's first but then again so is the Requiem
also check out Beethoven's Missa Solemnis
It encourages unwarranted self-importance, all the top rated releases are shit, every page takes forever to load and the entire userbase is just total cancer. We'd all be better off without it, instead just using discogs for music cataloging. We don't need no ratings or reviews either, anyone can instantly download or check out on Youtube what they want to listen to.
>What is unwarranted self-importance?
People thinking their opinions are worth reading; ie anyone who writes reviews, most of which tell little about the music or try so hard to be funny, it's honestly pathetic.
>The subgenre charts are generally good.
Link me to one that isn't overly super-niche and isn't full of the most entry-level examples of the subgenre.
>People thinking their opinions are worth reading
Sometimes people do have opinions worth reading due to their knowledge regarding the music.
>Link me to one that isn't overly super-niche and isn't full of the most entry-level examples of the subgenre.
So wait, if it's a well known release it can't be the best? That's a rather immature view.
Obviously OKC is not the best Rock release, but saying Karajan's Beethoven set or Kind of Blue aren't pillars of their genre is an immature thing to say.
What is your favorite type of tea?
Right now I am sick so everything tastes like snot and vomit, so I am just drinking hot water with ginger root. Normally Oolong is best though.
Discogs is pretty bad for looking up music. Might be a bit harder to find stuff on RYM, because of how strict they are with source, but at least it's better organized.
The reviews I've seen have been painful to read and fit your description pretty well. I just ignore them.
I'm pretty new to the site, but I'm enjoying rating stuff and keeping track of what I like.
Here's my profile by the way
>Sometimes people do have opinions worth reading due to their knowledge regarding the music.
And you'll find those people on a professional review site, not on RYM.
>So wait, if it's a well known release it can't be the best? That's a rather immature view.
Look at it this way, if the top rated releases are always easily accessible and entry level albums, then doesn't that mean that people without much experience in a genre are doing the rating? If so, why would I take those charts seriously?
>Obviously OKC is not the best Rock release
There you go, and I'm sure the top rated techno or black metal or whatever you listen to isn't truly the best example of the genre.
>but saying Karajan's Beethoven set or Kind of Blue aren't pillars of their genre is an immature thing to say.
I only listen to popular music so I can't comment on that.
How are any of my posts random? I'm talking about RYM in an RYM thread.
HE DID IT AGAIN BOYS
It's going to be interesting decades later when we view the catalogues of people like Avishai Cohen, Vijay Iyer, and Tim Berne with the reverence of masters past.
>And you'll find those people on a professional review site, not on RYM.
Not everyone wants to review things for a living. In fact that'd be a dull existence.
>I only listen to popular music so I can't comment on that.
So what you're saying is you have a very immature appreciation of music?
I disagree, Discogs is a lot more thorough with releases and compilations and what artists performed or appeared where. At least from what I've seen. RYM on the other hand has tons of missing releases, badly tagged releases or artists that have random tags added to differentiate them from similarly named artists, it's just a total shitshow in general.
>Not everyone wants to review things for a living. In fact that'd be a dull existence.
They can review all they want but their reviews are always going to be worthless.
>So what you're saying is you have a very immature appreciation of music?
Not listening to Jazz/Classical =/= being immature.
Who says I'm not a user of the site?
Early Grey is actually my favorite too but don't tell anyone.
Umm I hope you're not mocking me because I'm also sick and just drinking hot water with ginger.
I don't think I've ever actually had pu'erh. I'll keep my eye out.
>Not listening to Jazz/Classical =/= being immature.
As a matter of fact it does = being immature.
You can't claim to care about music and then only listen to the most commercial and vapid form of it.
you're talking to boldfuck, so expect the obvious art/folk/pop music argument to be thrown your way now
the same education you have literally never been able to provide any proof of, not even in your lacking displays of "knowledge" on the subject?
nice job ignoring the "not even in your lacking displays of "knowledge" on the subject" part
When people are learned, it shows even without them having to provide anything as confidential as personal information. In your case, it doesn't show. You do the math.
Rate my sexy curves
Think what you want to think, personally I believe I show a good understanding of classical music and an acceptable appreciation of Jazz.
Why do you obsess over me, btw? It's kind of funny.
Well what you think doesn't really matter. If you truly have a degree in music, then even that doesn't automatically give you authority on all genres and styles of music. Even you said OKC isn't the best rock release so going back to the whole RYM charts thing, wouldn't that mean you agree with me?
now you answer me, what pleasure do you get out of acting this way towards people here? do you do the same thing IRL? and if yes, how do you deal with the crippling loneliness when people "move on" as you put it, and no longer talk to you?
I just know how much you like to flirt.
That sounds like something my town wouldn't have but I'll pop into all the fancy tea places around town just in case.
>caring about the curve that much.
I first rated stuff I liked, then I rated stuff I already knew how I'll rate, and between all that I also rated few stuff, that I had no idea how I'll rate.
My point being, don't take rating and keeping the curve nice, so seriously.
>If you truly have a degree in music, then even that doesn't automatically give you authority on all genres and styles of music. Even you said OKC isn't the best rock release so going back to the whole RYM charts thing, wouldn't that mean you agree with me?
lol where do these people even come from
like, you would think they've played out this argument before and realized that it literally has one ending
that ending being *all* opinions being discredited and "hurr subjective" becoming the ultimate, immovable defense.
>I hope that the people who are wrong/being pretentious understand how they are wrong.
well you haven't shown any sign of understanding, so why would they?
I like how you are trying to pretend I'm somehow obsessed with you. you really think I'm the only person ever to disagree with or dislike you? d e l u s i o n a l
>will #avant-teen have a come back this year?
Avant-teen is dead, they are all uninteresting degenerates now anyway.
This guy should kill himself.
>go to some semi obscure shitty soundcloud tier track's page
>some guy rates it a 4
>oh nice someone who likes it as much as i do i wonder what else he listens to
>3000 other ratings
>theyre all the same /mu/core i see here everyday
