making a garage / house / techno mix for a friend as a late christmas present, would love input for tracks to throw in there, especially ones with a real download somewhere
that's similar to zoloft right? i had a period where i used to take zoloft every day for like 20 days straight
yeah it's safe, but it's a borderline death wish if you're combining it with mdma and alcohol
bruv I was just asking if anyone had any tracks they thought would be good, I can make a mix on my own
it's late because we've been apart since before christmas and I wanna give him the CD in person
i ain't rolled in 6 months and i'm rolling tomorrow. how much md should i take for me not to get too fucked. i'm about 6 foot 10 stone. i usually take a bag to the club and never count it out, but i wanna be prepared tomorrow. going with a girl and don't wanna get too fucked.
>make friends with techno head
>know nothing about techno
>them: "hey anon you seem to be into cool stuff we should swap music!! share some crazy things, let me set up this dropbox"
>open it up
>me: "h-hey have you heard Fort Romeau before"
>no contact since
i hope /bleep/ is proud off me i went officially straight edge tonite.
it was hard but had no choice i was with a family member @ the club.
but really not sure how you guys do it, only reason i was able to handle it was because a few m8's were djing and backstage and i had access to the liquor compartment.
if i had to pay with my own money, and i had no other reason to abstain i would never hold out.
way to many people were offering MD tonight.
There's some party at this big club tonight and I noticed that the girl I made out with on new years eve, but was too drunk to care about getting her number is going too...
Should I try to make up for the mistake and go to the party?
i wish they would play this sort of stuff at festivals here. kind of getting sick of the edm stuff. this is way better. anyone got any other songs similar to this? or an essentials chart?
>My parents convinced me to go camping with them fffuuuuuck this sucks
Do you realise how ridiculous it is to complain about this? Lots of people have a single parent who doesn't give a shit about them and you're being an ingrate because yours 'convinced' you to let them take you to do something pretty cool.
prove you're not a wasteman
how many can you name
If you either mix it properly or record it onto tape and put it into your dishwasher it would actually sound quite nice.
The concept is very solid, the execution is extremely lacking.
tfw theres only one club in my city that plays "bleepy" tracks every weekend but everything else is not at all fixed and i cant go to that club because a good friend made a mess with the bouncers over a little incident and got hit and is now banned, and so my best friend and i as an act of solidarity decided we wouldnt go there anymore
its so painful especially since the three of us have been there ever since the day it opened and chaged the owners three fucking times in 4 years...
hold my hand /bleep/ ,i get it this isnt my diary but i just had to let it out
>my best friend and i as an act of solidarity decided we wouldnt go there anymore
if that guy was a good friend he'd tell you to go to the club without him. If he'd get pissy at you going without him, he's a cunt and a selfish prick
nah, theyre both chicks but she did insist on the two of us going without her but weve been together almost every weekend for as long as i can remember and it just wouldnt be it if only one of us was absent
sadly yes, as i said we really were regulars and they all know us well, the incident occurred on new years eve and we went there last night to see if we can get her in and we tried everything but no, stubborn motherfuckers wouldnt even listen
actually she got hit buy a bouncer, who is a massive guy and she is literally a skinny ~170cm girl (5'7"),she got in a fight with some other girl over a jacket but it was nothing serious
fucking cunts didnt have to hit her
thanks to whoever posted this a while back
why are what .cd users basically fucking retarded
maya jane garbage is closer to frank & tony's music than either frank or tony
Is drum and bass worth listening to? Or is it all gonna sounds similar because of how heavily samples are used? Like, is there any drum and bass where it's mixed with rock or jazz, complete with solos?
Movement in Detroit. Doesn't play the typical EDM shit (for the most part). Obviously more techno based, but there's some more minimal/house shit too. Blazing on the grassy knoll facing the river with some chill as fuck house in the background is fucking luxury. Make the trip.
Found it, listening to it now.
I understand that, but I'm curious to see what else can be done with it. I think it could be equally charming to see it mixed with live instruments.
regarding 99.1, it will sound a lot like a guy ritchie movie soundtrack more or less because you are missing thise defining elements as >>61607360 said. But it might be a nice place to start. Also maybe try some Japanese dnb or jungle as I usually find they put a really unique spin on any genre they touch.
experimental jungle/jungle mixed with traditional music genres does exist and is more popular than regular jungle in fact, simon reynolds even wrote an essay about it back in the 90's
I finished reading this essay and I can't help but be a little bemused. On the one hand, I can empathize with how frustrating it is for someone to appropriate something and then claim they did a better job than you did. He's claiming Squarepusher was rather rude about that. And there's always gonna be posers in any scene, so that makes sense. But is it really so bad to just want to try to be eclectic with your taste and take from things to make something new? That's what drum and bass did and there's legitimacy to that. Why is suddenly wrong for people to take what they like about drum and bass and try and mix that with their own influences? Is it wrong because it doesn't have a culture? I mean it has to start somewhere, audiences and people aren't built into new ideas. It has to grow, there has to be collaboration. Reynolds complains about that, but it must have taken time for people to get turned on to the idea of DnB, too. Drum and bass became something because people believed in it, so the same should be possible for an off-shoot of that. If he doesn't like Squarepusher (I have to see for myself, too) because he feels Squarepusher's not as good as other artists, that's fine. I just am put off by how toxic that essay comes across.
Back to the music, this 99.1 mix has gotten better and better as it has gone on. Half an hour in.
the general idea is that those people took the carefree genre of jungle and turned it into a pointless chinstroking and dickwaving contest
personally I don't mind early drill and bass artists like spusher, vibert & aphex but later guys like flashbulb and venetian snares are a bit... yeah.
both genres are mostly dead now though so w/e
I'm liking Disc 2 more than Disc 1. I still don't really have an idea of where to go from here. All of those artists combined to have each little segment feel different in this big overall mix was great, and I don't know if I could get that kind of variety from a single artist. Should I just listen to the other big mixes Movingshadow have done?
You really should yes. Moving Shadow 01.1 is my personal favorite but that's now going back to standard breaks and samples. Basically the newer the Moving Shadow compilation, the more varied the sound will be so you can definitely use that same mentality with some of the artists on that label. Also discogs will be your friend if this is where you are starting, they will label the EPs from Moving Shadow artists with more specific subgenres.
Alright. One more question - what would you call this sound? Because this one interested me with how it gradually went from being organic, crunchy and jazzy into something smoother and electronic.
Not sure what exactly you would call that but I would certainly place it very close to what squarepusher and μ-ziq put out
go back to pitchfork review circlejerks so you can keep all your music secret
hey look another shit bleep thread
who listening to bpm fest rn?
Which of these lads do you think went "to the club"?
>he sits down and blazes on the grassy knoll
faggot, dance the entire time. last year i didnt take shit besides beer and champagne i smuggled in and my nose started bleeding from exhaustion right before Ten Walls
good times, just dont walk 2 blocks north into the city because we almost got shot for being white
Because ironically enough just like a tripfag that you have such an issue with those kinds of djs are concerned with everyone knowing who they are and how cool they are, much like yourself I'm sure, rather than just pushing music they like which is what makes the dj scene cool in the first place.
my attitude here has nothing to do with obsession about my worth, it's more about keeping shitty people who don't belong here away
thanks for making my efforts senseless since we're both off topic and shitposting right now, signing off
for a mongolian rice and origami image board, its got discussion
I still fail to understand how someone coming to a knowledgable group of people for help on something they know nothing about is shitty but okay stay elitist in one of the least elitist forms of music shitbrain.
no point having a car here in the city, not sure about where u live but more than half my friends don't own a car. It's pointless unless you have kids or work outside the city area
I wouldn't mind driving some econobox but I'm 6'4
Yo /bleep/. First time posting in one of these generals. My brother came back from his rugby match today and started playing that Palms Tarx tune on YouTube all evening and I can't get it out of my head now. Do you guys have suggestions for anything similar.
Clueless virgins have already destroyed bleep to be fair
You have people literally talking about hip-hop, future, chief keef, and footwork on a daily basis because s/t heard they play hip hop in clubs or something
when more and people said they like s/t and that he is right, i knew /bleep/ was going downhills.
shit i even saw some people agree with adtbg, i can't tell if it is one person our more tbqh
Don't get it twisted s/t is an absolute waste but he's alri and can occasionally handle the bants. Certified USDA Grade A melon tho
Agbt is just a total faggot who gives female advice to first year uni students on an anonymous forum despite being 40 years old, unemployed, and single (and probably really ugly too lololol) who lives in an igloo with a Toyota Yaris parked outside that he's still paying off hahaha
So let me rephrase my question from yesterday, I'm gonna continue to post it everyday until we find a solution:
How do we cast out tripfags such as ADTBG and s/t? And yes I put them in the same bag
>HURR DURR GRIME GRIME LMFAO AMERICANS R FAT BAN NON-BRITS FROM /BLEEP/ WEW PHAM AMERILARDS BTFO LOLOL CLUBLESS VIRGINS
>NO OF COURSE WE AREN'T CANCER, THE ONLY CANCER IN BLEEP ARE THE 2 AMERICANS THAT POST THERE, WE HAVE QUALITY POSTS
Ok solve this one for me: how come grime discussion is allowed here but not hip hop? and I hate both tbqh, but please, explain that one to me
because grime derives from electronic music, what because someone raps over it it's not /bleep/ anymore?
It's like considering house with singing over it not house anymore, that's stupid
wow you truly are a massive retard
hip hop does not derive from electronic music you stupid fucking snow nigger, it has the same roots as techno and house but it does not derive from electronic music faggot
It's like saying humans evolved from apes baka you truly are dumb, also nobody likes you fuck off from /bleep/ please
>hip hop does not derive from electronic music you stupid fucking snow nigger
Wow what a fucking retardo, Hip Hop derives from electronic music you inbret yuropoor, early pioneers like Afrika Bambaataa were sampling Kraftwerk you fucking mong, in fact, early hip hop was indistinguishable from electro, and it was the niggers in NY who gave a lot of early techno its sound thanks to the 808
not only it was derived directly from yuropoor electronic music, its a lot older than grime too,
oh and even the grimefags here admit that grime today is shite yet its allowed here, but because you're a typical inbred anti american yuropoor you get triggered when it gets discussed here
oh and in case you had any more questions you massive moron
yes they were sampling Kraftwerk but it derives from disco
Afrika Bambaataa represents a very specific sound in hip hop though, and it's considered as hip hop/electro
and yes grime today is shite
doesn't change the fact that I'm right
yeah you massive moron but read the rest
>but rather a subgenre
So I'm still right
>yes they were sampling Kraftwerk but it derives from disco
you mean like house music? oh is house music not derived from "electronic music" now?
>Afrika Bambaataa represents a very specific sound in hip hop though, and it's considered as hip hop/electro
and he was hugely influential at that, and they were not even bothering chopping the samples, but literally sampling entire basslines
>Afrika Bambaataa represents a very specific sound in hip hop though, and it's considered as hip hop/electro
but somehow hip hop is not "electronic music" amirite
>So I'm still right
read pic related and prepare to be buttblasted you fucking mong
>using bleep gear
>sampling kraftwerk basslines
>N-NO ITS NOT BLEEP WHAAAAAAA
I don't care if you don't post in the chat, I'm just bored and want to listen to whatever you're listening to. Just put in the youtube link to whatever you're listening to at the moment, that's what I'm doing.
On the bus from scubas first residency at xoyo. Trevino was sick, scuba was a bit safe imo. BUT IVE GOT A MYSTERY LETTER FROM HIM
