post russian shit edition
Reminder that the only great Russian composer was Stravinsky, who got the fuck out of there and went to Paris.
The tiers go:
Literally shit opinion there besides tier 1
>in any tier besides shit
America has a better Classical tradition than those Anglo cunts, and Russia is infinitely better than both when you take into Account the Five, some Tchaikovsky, Scriabin and his disciples, Stravinsky, and Prokofiev.
4. Russia and other Slavshits
6. Spain and Latin America
7. Hungary and other Central Euro cunts
9999. Great Shitstain
Well Germany and France would definitely still be on top.
Italy would be Tier 4, Americas in Tier 3 because of Ives and Carter (yet in spite of Reich and Riley), Britain would be Tier 2.
I felt tempted to pan Britain but Tallis, Purcell, Elgar, Maxwell-Davies...there are too many truly great composers.
>America has a better Classical tradition than those Anglo cunts, and Russia is infinitely better than both when you take into Account the Five, some Tchaikovsky, Scriabin and his disciples, Stravinsky, and Prokofiev.
You seem lost my friend; you're looking for reddit.com
Daily reminder that Germans/Austrians made the worst music. Daily reminder that Wagner and Mahler were the natural conclusion of the ever-increasing bourgeois redneckism pouring out of Germany/Austria like fecal matter pours out of a clogged toilet.
I need some beginner pieces to learn on viola.
The kid who thinks Russia is worthwhile is avant teen, yeah.
mine are too basic to be worth mentioning
beethoven 3 or 4
Hindemith wrote some very easy viola sonatas you should check out
I like that one that operates on a continuum of choppity-choppity-circus tune prancing-waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaailWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.
but it's so much more emotional, has much more contrast
9 is a bunch of fast movements that are, let's admit it, really fucking long for their content
not saying it's bad, fucking love that shit.
dude even fucking Schoenberg and Boulez are emotional, it's not a dirty word.
are you young and impressionable or something? there's more to music than memes
agree to disagree :)
Schubert's radical anyways
>tfw just bought two albums on itunes because I couldn't find them on rutracker or slsk
Is there music for this depressing feeling, I feel like literally reddit: the person right now
>the credo movement in Stravinsky's Mass
When did you realize the Mass is better than Symphony of Psalms /classical/?
I wanted it instantly like a spoiled child, Now I feel cheapened
I just downloaded the Reuss recording which includes Les noces and the Cantata
I haven't been this effected by music since I first heard Scriabin's Op. 8, No. 5 or Debussy's Faun
They have some nice gems I couldn't find otherwise on Rutracker
(containing more than one piece/containing a selection of pieces)
>Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti (26 October 1685 – 23 July 1757)
>Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791)
nice try, scarlatti died before mozart even composed his first piece. Although, mozart was into scat play, was he into necrophilia as well? or was scarlatti also a pedo
to the point, one of my picks would be the opening of the 1st movement of Francaix's Octet
and the Forlane from Tombeau de Couperin
first experiment with fingerings, usually they're very simple anyway. play with different rhythms and touch. start slow making sure each note is of equal value and desired dynamic and work your way faster.
I do, i've been playing for about 11 years now (and i'll start conservatory this year)
Practice, practice and then practice more
You can try with differents rhytms, and with accents
Try putting accents each 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 notes
(my english is quite broken so, sorry if this sounds weird)
If Jorge Bolet can make it out of Cuba and Argerich out of Argentina you can make it out of Chile, right?
mfw people itc
(im schoenbie not fat alma)
this is my favorite of all time
this version or the slower version, either. this piece makes me want to create something
I don't know, Purcell is pretty good
unless you mean since the death of the English folk revival of Vaughan Williams, then yes America blows Britain out of the water
Reminder that Beethoven's Mass in C is much better than Memessa Solmemenis
Mostly whatever is from Cziffra
Trascendentals, Hungarian Rhapsodies, Concerts, almost everything or everything
Well, that would be
Rachmaninoff 2 and 3, Tchaicovsky 1, Liszt 1 and 2, Grieg
I guess that's from concertos
Chopin 1 at least is more like a sonata, just with a orchesta playing something in the background
This is a pretty bad analogy. Fecal matter does not pour out of a clogged toilet. In most cases, toilets are clogged due to toilet paper itself, and once it is clogged it may be difficult to get that flushed down, but it doesn't have the capacity to actually fill up the entire toilet bowl and then pour over onto the ground, feces and all. Even if we assume that the toilet is clogging on shit alone, then this would still be the case. It just simply isn't possible from a clogged toilet.
so /classical/ what do you think of Valery "Stalin did nothing wrong" Gergiev?
There's a restlessness about his conducting that I really don't like (I'm not talking about the gestures, I mean the music making). Nervousness might work for Shostakovich though...
Britain was GOAT during the 1450s / 1500s
Tallis, Byrd, Dunstable, Taverner, Fayrfax, etc.
US didn't even exist in those days lol.
Nowadays Britain is still well ahead. Ferneyhough, Finnissy, Birtwhistle, etc. What do the US have? John Adams? Philip Glass? Steve Reich?
Lets not forget the other great brits like Elgar, Britten, RVW, Delius, Finzi, Maxwell-Davies, etc.
pic related, pro arte quartet one, petersen quartet, and a few of the live ones with casals
Is Verdi really that great? It's about time I'd listen to some of his operas. I absolutely love the operas by Mozart, Wagner, Puccini & Strauss... buf so far Verdi's operas have mostly sounded like a collection of 'catchy' tunes basically.
please add vice.
>tfw can't find a torrent of a performance of Woodland Sketches by Edward MacDowell?
I also can't seem to find any torrents of Lizst's transcription of Requiem and Don Giovanni.
They are not on what.cd as far as I can tell. Where could I find something like this?
afaik theres 2 versions of don juan fantasy and 1 incomplete fantasy on figaro and don giovanni. so thats 2 fantasies on don giovanni. the don juan fantasy is famous so theres a lot of recordings of that. imo theyre "fun", showy pieces but not that great really.
for the requiem i believe he had 1 or 2 works based on themes, never heard em though
Good point. Should be Borodin = Rimsky. I don't personally care for Mussorgsky but I can tell you Shosty is complete shit. I would rather listen to a Wagner opera slowed down 800% than listen to any of his music.
Of all the quartets I've heard by him 8 was the one that resonated with me the most. It's decent, for Shostakovich. But why waste my time with his drivel when Bartok has far better Quartets?
Kek. How long would that even be?
You can over-analyze practically anything to have greater meaning than there was originally. Doesn't mean there is any.
An analysis can only be right or wrong. There's no such thing as "giving greater meaning" that isn't there, that would just be an incorrect analysis.
Also, that picture is really dumb, and you dumb for posting it.
>An analysis can only be right or wrong. There's no such thing as "giving greater meaning" that isn't there, that would just be an incorrect analysis.
>Also, that picture is really dumb, and you dumb for posting it.
Why? It's funny.
It's dumb, but you can laugh at dumb things. Don't worry, no one will judge you.
Yes there is you fucking idiot. Somebody sat there and went into depth about trying to find some deeper meaning in shitty niggardly meme rap when it's just some retard talking about eating pussy over a drum machine.
It's like reading a childrens book and trying to find some elaborate loquacious adult message in it.
I didn't call you any names, though. Well, unless you find someone calling you a friend offensive.
I just think you're taking yourself too seriously, which is a fairly mundane thing to say, but I suppose you were offended if you took it on the level of name calling, which, I imagine, is possibly due to your insecurity regarding this.
Uh, don't mind me though. I'm not trying to bully you or anything. I wouldn't want to hurt feelings.
>Somebody sat there and went into depth about trying to find some deeper meaning
Prove him wrong then
>shitty niggardly meme rap when it's just some retard talking about eating pussy over a drum machine.
>It's like reading a childrens book and trying to find some elaborate loquacious adult message in it.
Like there can't be deeper messages in children stories like the Wizard of Oz or Alice in Wonderland
So if he had his hand on his chin and looked in a state of reflection instead, then you could take it seriously?
>then you could take it seriously?
More seriously, at the very least. But regardless, the sculpture looks like it was done by a Middle School student. I made more complex stuff than that in High School. It's just a shitty job.
>le back to /pol/ meme
There is no hidden genius in his music. Someone presented him a beat and he "sung" what sounded correct or harmonically good over it. You can tie whatever fucking labels to the notes that you want but it doesn't make whatever he's saying any more important. I could tie words to each pixel on my screen and make your comment about something entirely different that what you originally intended but that doesn't make my over analyzation right.
As for the lyrics, if you can find meaning in that I would advise you to fucking kill yourself and leave /classical/ forever, as I don't want your pompous, faggotty attitude leaking into my musical discussions.
Also I used a few words in the incorrect context which was dumb of me.
TLDR; Young Thug is a nigger fuck off
I've only ever heard his 2nd symphony and his Piano Concerto. They were... alright but I don't know if I felt anymore than that. Reminds me of Bruckner and Mahler kind of.
There's a performance of his Piano Concerto on Marco polo, but it's shit. Sounds bad and doesn't sound all that well conceived either.
There's a performance of the full thing with Furtwangler himself conducting and Fischer playing on the keyboard, but the sound quality is just horrendous.
In my honest opinion, because of so much oversight by the catholic church baroque music didn't develop much in the way of cultural flavour. It probably would have sounded Teutonic anyway
Ravel for the Left Hand
No you fucking idiot. Its just like you want to listen to yourself talk. Who hasn't heard of Mozart? Furthermore, how is the category of Mozart much less intimidating then "classical music". Go stand in the corner and think about what you've done. Also listen to his second Quintet
Apparently Shostakovich was an Andrew Lloyd Webber fan. I don't even know what to think anymore.
>Dmitri Shostakovich attended this production in London just before his death. He regretted that he could not have composed something like it; he lauded especially a rock band underpinning full symphonic strings, brass and woodwind.
>I don't even know what to think anymore
post what you are listening to
I'm thinking about starting to learn, but i live in a shithole and even digital pianos cost retarded amounts(3000 bucks for a good and cheap one)
Should i go for an electronic keyboard with weighted tiles?
And should i get a professor or try full-on self-taught?
/classical/ I've been listening to the neoclassical bands Threnody Ensemble and Rachel's recently and have been really digging them. Where would I go from here if I wanted to find similar actual classical composers? What's the opinion on TE and Rachel's , if any?
>General folder. Renaissance up to 20th century/modern classical
>General folder #2. Mostly Romantic up to 20th century/modern, but also includes Bach and Mozart subfolders
>General folder #3. Mostly 20th century/modern with other assorted bits and pieces
>Debussy Folder: Recordings of Debussy's most important/famous works
>Opera folder: Construction in progress. Features recorded productions of various operas
There you go friend
I don't think that getting a really expensive piano off the bat would be a good idea, but getting weighted keys are a must. I have one of those weightless smart electric pianos and it's almost impossible to get any sort of dynamics out of it.
Also I highly recommended a teacher. Even if they are complete shit they will help you hammer out the basics of technique and music theory.
Where do you live? I think piano is just an expensive as fuck hobby in general, but I am only paying $100 for four lessons a month.
