Reminder that the only great Russian composer was Stravinsky, who got the fuck out of there and went to Paris.

The tiers go:

>Tier 1
Germany
France
>Tier 2
Italy
Britain
>Tier 3
Russia
Eastern Europe
>Tier 4
The Americas
>Tier 5
All others.
>>
>>61581372
How would the tiers change if it was just about music from 1900 onwards?
>>
>>61581372
Literally shit opinion there besides tier 1

also

>Britain
>in any tier besides shit

America has a better Classical tradition than those Anglo cunts, and Russia is infinitely better than both when you take into Account the Five, some Tchaikovsky, Scriabin and his disciples, Stravinsky, and Prokofiev.

1. Germany/Austria
2. France
3. Italy
4. Russia and other Slavshits
5. America
6. Spain and Latin America
7. Hungary and other Central Euro cunts
9999. Great Shitstain
>>
>>61581453
Tier 1 would have Italy and America in it
>>
>>61581453
Well Germany and France would definitely still be on top.
Italy would be Tier 4, Americas in Tier 3 because of Ives and Carter (yet in spite of Reich and Riley), Britain would be Tier 2.
>>61581467
I felt tempted to pan Britain but Tallis, Purcell, Elgar, Maxwell-Davies...there are too many truly great composers.
>America has a better Classical tradition than those Anglo cunts, and Russia is infinitely better than both when you take into Account the Five, some Tchaikovsky, Scriabin and his disciples, Stravinsky, and Prokofiev.

This is a pretty bad analogy. Fecal matter does not pour out of a clogged toilet. In most cases, toilets are clogged due to toilet paper itself, and once it is clogged it may be difficult to get that flushed down, but it doesn't have the capacity to actually fill up the entire toilet bowl and then pour over onto the ground, feces and all. Even if we assume that the toilet is clogging on shit alone, then this would still be the case. It just simply isn't possible from a clogged toilet.

afaik theres 2 versions of don juan fantasy and 1 incomplete fantasy on figaro and don giovanni. so thats 2 fantasies on don giovanni. the don juan fantasy is famous so theres a lot of recordings of that. imo theyre "fun", showy pieces but not that great really.

You can over-analyze practically anything to have greater meaning than there was originally. Doesn't mean there is any.

An analysis can only be right or wrong. There's no such thing as "giving greater meaning" that isn't there, that would just be an incorrect analysis.

There is no hidden genius in his music. Someone presented him a beat and he "sung" what sounded correct or harmonically good over it. You can tie whatever fucking labels to the notes that you want but it doesn't make whatever he's saying any more important. I could tie words to each pixel on my screen and make your comment about something entirely different that what you originally intended but that doesn't make my over analyzation right.

As for the lyrics, if you can find meaning in that I would advise you to fucking kill yourself and leave /classical/ forever, as I don't want your pompous, faggotty attitude leaking into my musical discussions.

Also I used a few words in the incorrect context which was dumb of me.

How's Furtwängler as a composer?
>>
>>61615733
I've only ever heard his 2nd symphony and his Piano Concerto. They were... alright but I don't know if I felt anymore than that. Reminds me of Bruckner and Mahler kind of.

There's a performance of his Piano Concerto on Marco polo, but it's shit. Sounds bad and doesn't sound all that well conceived either.

There's a performance of the full thing with Furtwangler himself conducting and Fischer playing on the keyboard, but the sound quality is just horrendous.

I don't think that getting a really expensive piano off the bat would be a good idea, but getting weighted keys are a must. I have one of those weightless smart electric pianos and it's almost impossible to get any sort of dynamics out of it.

Also I highly recommended a teacher. Even if they are complete shit they will help you hammer out the basics of technique and music theory.
