LP9 better be good and not a boring bleep bloop fest.

Not saying that Thom's bleep bloop stuff was necessarily bad, it's just that I'm getting sick of it.
>>
>>61570744
I agree. In Rainbows was beautiful in my opinion but I didn't get the point of The King of Limbs. I prefer their more psych/art style stuff.
>>
>>61570744
but without bleep bloops they wouldnt had made TKOL from the basement

I just know that LP9 is going to be good no matter what. they haven't released a bad album since Pablo and we just heard Specter so we know they still got it
>>
>>61570713
Get rid of the "probably" and I wholeheartedly agree

they were only good before 1995
>>
I really like their music but I almost never feel inclined to listen to them. If other people put them on, I enjoy. In Rainbows is very good
>>
>New Radiohead album
>Soft Piano track with horn/string crescendo outro
>Thom singing Ooooooooooh Ooooooooh for the chorus
>>
>>61570777
>but without bleep bloops they wouldnt had made TKOL from the basement
This.

I'd even go further and say that the basement version of "Bloom" is their greatest live performance ever.

Hail to the Thief was pretty bad 2bh
>>
>>61570807
Ive turned several of my friends into Radiohead and I always start by showing them that Bloom performance
>>
>>61570784
I enjoy Pablo Honey, but I won't deny its really just a cliche 90's album. The Bends though is one of my all time favorites. I honestly love all of their albums.
>>
>>61570851
I showed my drummer bro that live performance and he hated it
>>

your drummer bro is top pleb

if you say so friend
>>
>>61570875
Bro The bends wasn't particularly good either, not saying it was a bad album but it wasn't great. It really shows how reliant OK Computer is on It's production.
>>
>>61571175
>a wolf at the door
fk that song is so good.

is he the mastermind behind it all?
>>
>>61571227
you can't delegitimize albums because they have good production. in that case St Pepper and Pet Sounds arent as good because they rely heavily on its production. an album is songwriting + execution + production + many other things
>>
>>61571275
he's pretty good at playing guitar but Id say thats them being good is more due to them having a lot of chemistry
>>
>>61570713
I think you mean 30 years

they formed in 85
>>
>>61571275
I wouldn't say he's the mastermind, but I won't deny he has an absolutely brilliant guitar style that cannot be matched. Defiantly one of the bests and very underrated.
>>
>>61571275
Yes, I have always thought this to be true. Seems pretty obvious really. Not to say that the other members aren't talented.

My breakdown of the importance of each member is as follows:

Johnny Greenwood: 50%
Thom Yorke: 18%
Phillip Selway: 12%
Colin Greenwood: 10%
Ed O'Brien: 5%

The only reason why Colin Greenwood gets 5% more than Ed O'Brien is because he apparently helps with sampling (but we all know good and well that Johnny boy is the driving force on the electronic front)
>>
close third behind animal collective and boards of canada in my honest opinion
>>
>>61571439
Derp, I meant 55% for Johnny, my bad.

>inb4 autism
>>
>>61571439
nigel godrich deserves a hefty percentage imo
>>
>>61571459
Holy shit, how could I forget!

Revised:

Johnny Greenwood 35%
Nigel Godrich: 20%
Thom Yorke: 18%
Phillip Selway: 12%
Colin Greenwood: 10%
Ed O'Brien: 5%

Thoughts?
>>
>>61571432
nah man their first album of any merit came out in 1995

>>61571439
You didn't mention Nigel Godrich, so I'll assume you have no idea what you're on about

>>61571275
No
>>
>>61571298
I never said that OK Computer was bad because of It relies on production.
>>
>>61571439
I'd say thom yorke has a bigger input in general but yea Jonny is classically trained and a film composer, I think he must have a huge influence in how the songs are structured, etc.

>>
>>61571441
animal collective do have songs where you can see brilliance but holy shit do they fail half of the time. the psychedelic/experimental tag is the best card they could pull out because they are allowed to make noisy and annoying tracks and people will give them a pass. besides, they are tremendously overrated by pitchfork.
>>
Never listened to this band, what should be my first album?
>>
>>61571545
just start with The Bends and make your way through chronologically
>>
>>61571545
OK Computer

>>61571483
Shit.

Godrich does a lot for Radiohead obviously, but not to the extent where he should be considered a bigger contributor than the band's PRIMARY SONGWRITER

You're fucking high. The band have said, Thom writes the backbones for most of the songs and dictates the overall direction for the records. He's the US in their UN. Greenwood works around him, not on top of him.
>>
>>61572413
Thom by far contributes the most. Ever listened to eraser? It really shows that he is the genius behind radiohead
