Because Currents was incredibly overrated for one of the most mediocre records I've ever heard. The Australian psych scene has so many great acts like Pond, King Gizzard, GUM and The Babe Rainbow but Tame Impala is the only one that gets recognised. All the reviews I've read of recent Aus psych albums all draw comparisons to Tame Impala as if they're the bar for modern psych, which they are not. Also Kevin Parker came out and said there wasn't really an Australian psych scene, guy needs to get out more. But Lonerism and Inner Speaker are both great albums.

GUM is in Tame Impala. The lead of Pond was in Tame Impala but they still homies. King Gizzard kind of found The Babe Rainbow and signed them to their label. King Gizzard are homies with GUM.

The other night I saw Mac Demarco in Melbourne, The Babe Rainbow and GUM supported. Two of the main members of Gizzard were playing with Babe Rainbow and both the lead of Gizzard and GUM got on stage to jam with Mac and the band at the end. They're all in cahoots, and I'm sure Kevin is quite aware.

its amazing just sit down and listen to it intently dont skim over it. a couple cringy moments but on the whole it is very layered, magnificent, and at times beautiful. the outros to the tracks especially get me.

Can someone tell me why people enjoy Tame Impala? To me, it sounds like the most basic and boring music. It's incredibly predictable.

its a interesting "abstract concept". not perfect but a VERY impressive debut. lyrics, flow, beats; theyre all pretty solid imo. considering he produced, mixed, and mastered it himself i really think jonathan is the best, most original "new" artist in hip hop. sure there are albums like rocky's and vince's that are more polished and in some regards much better. more accessible is probably the best way to say it. but taken as a whole, this album is probably the most in innovative thing out of hip hop last year besides obviously TPAB. again, im not saying its perfect, but it is unique and worth a listen if you ask me.
