HOLY SHIT, DEAK IS ABOUT TO DROP THE ALBUM OF THE YEAR.
Shots fucking FIRED at Animal Collective, this is a clear retaliation for being kicked out of the band.
Is Animal Collective fucked?
feels is their best album and deak was behind quite a bit of it I believe
hope everybody is ready. I'm a record company exec. Deakin is about to release the greatest piece of impressionist music in the past century. this dude is going to be the new Debussy. Deakbussy, if you will.
Here's a bunch of his songs from way back in 2011. I'm curious to see how much they have changed over the years.
I have sources close to the situation who tell me Deak was forced out because he made a power play to get 2-3 songs on the new album and the rest of the guys wouldn't go more than 1
I've heard it, and this is terribly uninteresting and bland. Not in any way comparable to revelation-feeling songs like Banshee Beat.
I will concede, I have jammed and still enjoy Wide Eyed.
yeah, but at least there's for opinions here. ever since sonic boom started posting there the place has become a ridiculous echo chamber.
people on that site get so pissy if you have a negative opinion (no matter how well it's stated) and go against what they think. everyone there is exactly the same.
Definitely not Sonic Boom's fault (he's made a few entertaining posts and leaked some great demos for PBVSGR), but I know what you mean.
I don't know if it's really the negative opinions that trigger people on that site, but I know that there's a lot of entitled babbies who think that they deserve Painting With right now and really just need to shut the fuck up.
Also, it is a fan forum so there's really nothing wrong with it being almost strictly positive attitudes.
Can we stop with the Deakin meme? He's really not relevant, even in the context of Animal Collective. Geologist plays a far greater role in the band and even he pales in comparison to Avey and Panda.
Like, I'm sure he's a chill dude but I'd rather fucking hang out with any of the other members tbqh. You are all just fucking memers
look, i like sonic boom (a lot actually - as a dude and as a musician), but he definitely would make some pretty passive aggressive posts when people would express disappointment with pbvsgr or his previous work on tomboy. i just think he's sensitive. and there were some posters who picked up on that and in a kind of kiss ass-y way would try to devalue the opinions of others who maybe weren't thrilled with the job he did, because they didn't want to "hurt his feelings." i'm glad he was there for tidbits before the album came out but his presence sometimes makes things awkward imo.
>it is a fan forum so there's really nothing wrong with it being almost strictly positive attitudes
i disagree and think that's silly. i can be a fan (i am) and not enjoy everything they do. having a site where everyone has the exact same opinions is the death of discussion and i think it almost stunts appreciation if you can't see things through someone else's perspective.
I'm a fan, listen and love lots of Animal Collective. But i'll readily say when I don't care for something after giving it a chance, and it won't always be the popular opinion and that's fine. I find the song Today's Supernatural to be embarrassingly bad, one of the worst things they've ever done, and I think Pulleys is a fantastic song. I'm sure CA would flame me for that TS comment. But on /mu/ even though Pulleys is mostly hated, there are still those who enjoy it and will agree.
yeah, and you know, dissenting opinions aren't inherently bad either. they can be enlightening and underscore and reinforce what you do enjoy about certain aspects of the music. for instance: i once saw someone write that they thought rosie oh was cheesy because it had an almost reggae-esque groove to the guitars and percussion. that was a lightbulb moment for me because i realized that's why I LOVE that track so much.
