I think if I'm trying to make these beats I need to tone down a bit, strip back some of the instruments to make everything sparser.
I really like the production, and your voice flows nicely over the beat.
I liked the piano more than I liked the spoken word part, but I did enjoy how your voice rose in emotion and volume by the end of the track. I'm not a huge fan of spoken word in general, so I wish I could provide more feedback, but I can't think of anything besides maybe fixing your vocal mix, but that's a bit petty.

There's my newest track. I know it sounds kinda weird, but mastering is not my strong side. Hope you like it tho and give me some constructive critique. Still working on my style, and there's a long road ahead. Cheers!

Sorry if the transitions sound janky. I put heavy strings on my guitar but they're kinda awkward for long stretches, so I might ditch them.
Some feedback would be appreciated though, I'm not sure whether to keep working on this or just to drop it and move onto something else.
At this point, I'm convinced I'm the best rapper in Vegas.

Some new experimental stuff up as well.
Hi. I am a singer songwriter. I am learning production. I enjoy creating songs, and I hope that you enjoy listening to them. Feel free to leave an tips, pointers, or constructive criticism. All is appreciated.
*Please don't do any follow for follow type stuff. I won't follow you back. You should be following me because you like my music. After all, that's what soundcloud is for.
Thank you SO much for giving my shit a listen! I really dig some of the stuff on your [Red] EP. Have you heard of Kaki King? A lot of your effects chaining reminds me of some of her stuff
I have -always- loved this style of vocal sampling and you do a really good job of it in this track
Can you guys critique this hip hop instrumental I made? I came up with the idea a few days ago and wanted some feedback to what I should add and remove. This is a rough demo.
>pretty songs for sad people
I self sabotaged my vocals which are only used in one track, I most certainly didn't self sabotage everything else on my Soundcloud. I only made this one for the hell of it, it was shit to begin with. but thanks for the tip, kiddo.
You Love him for......what exactly?
NEW HIT SINGLE BY DOPE FIEND EMPIRE GET WITH IT OR GET LOST
I really like that echoey snare you got. The synth doesn't stand out too much though, and the other drums, which are center panned and arguably the most important, are also hard to hear. It sounds like you have the center drums and the synth right on top of each other. Maybe, you could keep the synth in the center, and pan some of the other drums slightly to the right and left. Otherwise, good song, It sounds pretty cool.
For me, the guitar tone is too brittle, but that might be what you were going for. I think you really need a band to back up the rest of the instrumentation, because you've got the concept, it's a cool idea. You just need other instruments and better recording technique toe really get the song pumping. Start getting used to heavy strings, because in the end, it's worth it.

Fair enough. Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking of getting people together for a band soon but I felt like I should line up a few concepts first, so everyone's on the same page once we get going.
As for the guitar tone, it doesn't sound as full as I intended it to be, so you're definitely right about the need to invest in a better set up/technique. Thanks again, though.
I like the meat on that lead guitar, and the layering of guitar parts around the minute mark lends the verse a bit of welcome depth.
For a minimal arrangement, it never feels empty. It's a good production.
The vocals are a little too whiney for my taste, and the faint echo isn't doing much for them, either.
Alternative is the only accurate description listed, and unfortunately that genre's not really my cup of tea. But it's a good craft so I support it.
Really top notch production quality. Doesn't sound the slightest bit amateur, keep doing what you do man.
There is a reason that these threads always get 404d. A very small percentage of the people who post also provide feedback. This isn't just a thread to shamelessly advertise your work. This should be a thread to expose your music to new audiences, and make progress as an artist. If you are going to post in this thread, please have the decency to provide feedback on at least one song. I think that is a reasonable enough agreement.
fuck you. either way, these threads are trash because no one gives feedback. and the reason there are multiple threads, is because people want to promote their shit multiple times, and make it so they are seen. So technically, the reason the threads 404 is because people don't give feedback and instead just want to adveritize. so fuck off and suck a dick you retard.
Feedback would be amazing!

Good stuff, the massive attack cover sounds great
You have a pretty unique style, I like Rolling a lot. Te piano reminds me a bit of Pyramid Song.
Fuck yeah, some of my favourite stuff I've heard on here. Definitely some Midwest Emo vibes.
Thanks so much man! Is your stuff posted here?

I'm not versed in vaporwave, but the vocals are just straight up off, I'm not sure if this is some strange fad for the aesthetic of vaporwave, but it isn't pleasant on the ears. However the instrumental is interesting.

I RAP AND STUFF CHECK IT OUT YO
The guitar's are a bit abrasive, seems a bit uninspired and generic, vocals are nice, it just feels like i've heard this before, I would definitely check you out live though.
>electronic, instrumental hip hop, fuzzy, scifi
>>61542883 (falling down)
i know i've already critiqued your song, but you deleted my comment, may as well restate it.
the song isn't all that great. the beat is okay, but it's a little cheap sounding. the vocals are drab and not very well mixed. the lyrics are cheesy, repetitive, and meaningless. granted, the song is more centered around atmosphere rather than lyrics, but even the atmosphere is just awkward and unsatisfying.
it's just another drop in the cloud rap bandwagon.
this is why we can't have nice things. you people have no idea how to give feedback without sounding like assholes. granted, this guy does make shitty music, and is definetly just trying to ride the cloudrap wave, we still can't be encouraging these responses.
>there be daemons here
If anyone would like help with production/recording, just ask. I have a very solid production background, working on many types of music/recordings.
Feedback is always welcome, and I will give feedback to anyone who asks me for it specifically. I will be listening to SC's at random otherwise.
this is my stuff. mostly home-made poppy tracks and some ambient/experimental tracks in there too. been doing this for a few years and not sure where to go with it. any comments or advice is appreciated :)
I only made that track for fun honestly, I thought it sounded okay so uploaded with some art i made to it :) I don't even really care about Vaporwave or Chillwave lol. But yeah, I did delete his comment just for that reason. Even though it was a d*ck move by me, And i'm really sorry for that! But yeah thank you for understanding.
Man, I am really digging the hell out of your stuff. I am really into post-rock and doom, and I feel you have elements of both. I apologise to everyone else, because I've been stuck listening to your stuff, so I haven't had the chance to give feedback to many others yet. I will take a break from your stuff soon... probably.
>if honest feedback/criticism makes me an asshole, then i guess i'm the new fuckin' hitler.
So I'm just going to assume, you are either in a really bad mood, or you are highly autistic and don't understand basic social conventions.
i just like cutting the bullshit and saying what i actually think instead of being a professional cock-sucker. even then, you're acting like all i give is negative feedback, which is completely false. and if you're going to base your opinion on me around one negative post, then who's the real autist?
you're both autistic for even continuing this stupid argument back to the /mu/sic faggots

decent 90's emulation, where you've been is really chill.
nice, haven't checked out a whole mix yet but what I'm hearing so far is tight. dark, gritty techno. are you using all digital gear?
surprisingly good, I like the production and you've got tight lyrics and flow. I feel as though your voice loses strength every now and then when the beat cuts, try relaxing or just spitting louder/more energetically. lose the doom picture and this could be a very solid project. Tone's Melody singing section is pretty cringy referencing anime and manga while being very off key though
LOL yeah Tone's Melody singing part was a friend who just wanted to hop on a track, it's definitely cringy as shit. These are just quick little things we threw together to get it out there. Thank you for the actual feedback bro I appreciate it big time! And cmon man it's DOOM all caps when u spell da name ;)
haha I admit I slipped up, blasting rhymes like dimes to make up for it now. No worries man, shit gets very spammy on these threads sometime, thought I'd do my part to beef it up. for real though, your shit sounds good. it just needs to be refined in some areas and made more 'yours'

that talking head cover was great
I think everyone involved in these are very talented and it totally nails what I expected from the description. Would-see-if-you-played-locally/10
that was great, the part after 3:45 really took me off guard, I was hooked.

not huge into vaporwave but I really dug the vocals
really chill, i could really vibe out to this. followed.
beat was great, really like the hi-hats.
really like how you use samples, really ties the beat together well. really chill.
i'll start by saying I'm not a huge blues guy
I think this is a bit generic, and it gets a bit boring for me throughout. I'm guessing this is a demo so that's why the vocals aren't so prominent but I'd really like to hear those pushed up. When I do listen to bluesy stuff I like hearing honest emotion and some actual soul backed to it. this sounds robotic and a bit try-hard even the solos. even if you do not have the technical ability, just loosen up, have fun and see where that goes
please take this with a grain of salt, and don't take this as an attack
https://soundcloud.com/musicmoma/tracks Just got a new laptop so now pic for Moma yet, but here's some other stuff
Thanks for checking me out!
As you probably thought I am not huge into your kind of music either but I enjoyed One Wrong Move. I like the beat and I love when artists just do whatever they like. And I can feel that you enjoyed making that track. Pretty wild. Keep doing what you're doing!
I actually play with a full band live, just not often since I'm not really about that. A lot of the stuff I upload is old stuff, Moma is essentially the corpse of an old band that was around Philly during the Marietta/ModernBaseball emo revival.
for the robotic parts, I guess that ties in with the lacking soul/generic part I mentioned earlier. like, it's in time and that's good of course, but it sounds very rigid (and this is a personal preference) and clean, similar to one of those blues play alongs you find on youtube. yeah they're fun to jam along to but you can tell there's nothing behind it
like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1Gn7-NRSzQ
as for the solos, and I'm kind of speaking from my own personal experience they just sound like they're trying to impersonate a riff they kinda heard SRV or Duane played. they're cool and they sound good, but they've been done to death by the masters and everyone else that followed it that you need some personal flare or touches to them so it's not so... samesy and well, generic
I hope this makes sense, it's like 2am here and idk why i'm not sleeping
>Aiming for shoegaze sound when I get the equipment
I made this a few months back with my friend, just a half developed song to get the ideas I had down.
I wrote this earlier today. Recorded with my iphone so thats that.

I see what you mean. This is, after all, one of our most refined tracks. I'm really enjoying your feedback. If you can, what do you think of this one?: https://soundcloud.com/alvaro-moretta/spoonful-ramblin-on-my-mind?in=alvaro-moretta/sets/spoonful-official-playlist
Here's my new Alternative R&B track called "Worth It". It has some Toronto vibes, over "trappier" production than what I've previously done. I appreciate you guys taking the time to listen!
This has gotten a pretty good response, hopefully some of you like it too.
I return all feedback!
I like this one, it's pretty solid. even if it's just some twelve bar blues, it stands out much more to me than the first one you linked... it just feels more natural
are these just live demos? the production is alright, I think it would just be better to have the focus on each section (either the vox, guit solo or keys soli) stand out when they're shining. but nonetheless, good track buddy
Not the guy you've been talking to, but I think I'm going to mix that last track for you in my spare time tomorrow because I really enjoyed it personally just so that you can see the difference a good mix makes.
I just commented on the track about how it's a great song but better mixing would improve it a lot. The stuff on my Soundcloud is just normie shit I've done - I'm more of a blues fan than anything, so if you look at mine you won't be too interested.
sorry, that wasn't very clear
when the vocals are up, they should be a bit more up in the mix so it's not so blended... when the guitar is soloing it should be a bit more clear above the instruments, same with the piano being more upfront during it's solo y'know? i'm still learning production as well so I'm kind of in the same boat as you haha
this is me
i'll take any critiques you throw my way! i'm fixing these at the moment to re-release them with vocals so anything helps.
Checked out "Me? Worried? Absolutely!" I like the sounds of it. The advice I can give is that I recommend you use some reverb on the tracks to create a nice sense of space. I've been experimenting with it it's pretty nice as long as long as it's not overdone. What DAW do you you use? I'm using Cubase atm.
thanks! means a lot.
yeah I'm in a constant fight with the amount of reverb I'm using, I need to find a nice balance to space everything thing out for sure - thanks. I'm using Logic X. I got used to Garageband from doing a project and school with it and it just kind of stuck. Loving it though! How are you liking Cubase?
FL Studio primarily.
It looks like Cubase has a batch export feature where you could export each track as a wav file. You could then archive them and send me the zip or whatever.
I've spent a ridiculous amount of time with it, working with everything ranging from blues, acoustic pop, hip-hop, noise, edm, to metal. It's just what I'm accustomed to - I'm sure Logic or other DAWs are just as good.
Definitely not a problem. I'll hit you up tomorrow night (it's 2am here), probably on Soundcloud, with a link to the mix. I think, if nothing else, it will inspire you to learn mixing and mastering more because it makes a massive difference.
Just starting out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
