bee thousand is an incredible album, one of the saddest i've ever heard actually. it's the perfect "get drunk and sing desperate tunes out loud and out of key and although the dopamine produced by the alcohol is making you happy you're dead inside" album.

sporadic lo-fi recordings of absolutely genius pop songs. drink a few beers and listen to it loud, idk

I've been listening to it loads recently. If you really do appreciate lo-fi, you'll be able to get past the shitty quality and realise that Bee Thousand is a goldmine.

Wait, what? The reason it's lo-fi is because it feels warm/nostalgic, etc. It's a production tactic that sacrifices quality/being able to discern certain elements of the mix in favour of general aural pleasure. Lo-fi softens all the edges and makes this sound more saccharine...

No one would ever release a lo-fi record if this wasn't the case. A record being poorly mixed is different than using analogue tape recorders to achieve a certain sound...
