I can't speak for Ross, but Pusha was very self-aware when he wrote his verse, trying again and again to be as big of a douche as possible. He sets himself up as the perfect example of what the song is about, the young, rich and tasteless black rapper. His verse presents the rawest form of the money, sex and power topics in rap. Personally I love the verse because there is absolutely nothing glamorous about it, it's dark and depressing despite T rapping about being on top of the game. It's my second favorite section of Runaway

Pusha rewrote the verse 4 times just to get that point across, so it's not too far-fetched to believe that Kanye had a strong purpose for him. I love the the idea of him suddenly being shot into stardom and having more money and influence than he knows what to do with, so he spirals into a soulless, hedonistic lifestyle and that verse represents it perfectly. Kanye's verse is the self-aware part of him, admitting his faults.

Ross' verse feels a bit out-of-place in Devil, though. I just like it because of the delivery.

Runaway isn't explicitly about anything. I mean, if you take it literally, it's about a relationship. But really, it's more generally about Kanye's awareness of his asshole-ishness and his reputation in the media.
You could also simply interpret that, as in 808s, he is using autotune to convey a more emotional tone: but the "dark twisted" version of it here is beyond redemption. 808s felt like a phase: the depression conveyed in Runaway seems abyssal.

I mean MBDTF is pretty good but it's not THAT good. Everyone who rides this album's dick makes me cringe like a huge portion of Kanye's lyrics. The man is not a mastermind, he's a pretty good rapper.

The more I listen to Wolves the more I really like it.
The lyrics are really simple (not a bad thing because simple lyrics get a point across) which goes along with the simple beat and I think Vic/Sia were really good on it too
I'm excited to hear how the album sounds but I hope there's more from Ye and Paul like an EP or something because it doesn't seem like the type of stuff they're working on will fit within the album
