Hey /mu/, any sound designers/programmers here? I got quite a specific question as to what algorithm/technique is used to achieve this sort of tone here:

I guess it's sort of a vocal sample with what appears to be a max/msp patch applied, but what is this processing algorithm? Never heard it in any more "accessible" records though. Is it some sort of spectral transformation?

reverb
gooks generally don't have any technically advanced synthwork in their electronic at all

?
do you even produce?
glitch =/= advanced synth programming, but composition. i can make a fucking click or a pop in audacity right now.
most japanese glitch is weak as shit anyhow. at least post good artists like ametsub or ikeda.

>do you even produce?
do you even max?
what do you mean by "synth programming"? No one programs fucking synth in software like max, it's basically quite abstract programming environment based on using patches and audio processing. All I wanted to know is what sort of patch Sawako would use in that track cause I liked the sound, I think it's beautiful and rare.

you asked what 'processing algorithm' he used, and i'm fucking telling you it is reverb. what cause do you have to think otherwise, other than assuming he's too cool for a basic effect and being an obtuse idiot like max/msp or pure data are required or widely used software in electronic music?
and certainly not for something as basic as reverb. you can do everything in the op track with regular vsts, probably the native ones to any decent DAW. even if he did use max/msp for that track you won't find any patches here, almost nobody on the board bothers with max or its derivatives.

>reverb
I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't sure it's not reverb. Believe it or not I know what a reverb deck/plugin does and how it affects the sound.
>he's too cool for a basic effect
It's not the case with her. I know for a fact she used max and produced almost everything with it. This specific sound (processed voice) just gives a feel it was kind of compressed with an mp3 codec or something else to give that "lossy" artifacts and tone. I really hope someone should be using max over here though.

if you are really interested in doing some interesting spectral transforms, check out the composers desktop project
it is all free and open source now
you can get some insane sounds

hey /prod/ somebody tell me what the fuck to do with this track

Just playing on a cheap $10 Casiotone.

Did I over do it? Should I EQ a bit more? I'm trying to go for a lo-fi aesthetic.
