what the fuck is this?
I overheard a couple jocks discussing the lyrical content of this song and it was somehow more mature and thoughtful than the entirety of that maxed out thread about this yesterday.
These are the same jocks that judge each other by how much they can crush a beer can with their erect dick by the way.
>>53499889
yeezus, an album that normies hate.
You're talking about making music right? Because yes, that's absolutely true. What of it?
i still have this theory that the second verse is directed to gangbangers, growing up in the hood where you get told you either end up dead or in prison and the fact that the gangbangers hate on him being successful and shitting on gangbanging. makes sense in my head and it's not kendrick's style to make 2 verses so similar with the same point of view in the same song.
>>53499812
Because Kendrick does it in a more technical, nuanced, thought provoking and professional manner
>>53500941
Yeah, I feel like Kanye just rants mindlessly with no train of though.
At least Kendricks lyrics at least give you a comprehensive POV.
>>53500082
the fuck are you even talking about? that kendrick song is actually good
Kendrick literally jacked the dark dancehall chorus straight from Yeezus.
>>53500941
>nuanced
It's blunt and borderline preachy conscious rap. It's easier to follow and narrower but not nearly as sophisticated as Kanye's verses on Yeezus.
>>53501315
Do you even know what preachy is?
I bet you think a doctor telling you to eat healthier foods is preaching...
>>53501315
Go sucks kanye's dick or something fanboy

Sentience is broad, fam. They may see value in the practice of crushing cans with their erect dicks that you don't, but that doesn't discount them as people or as thinkers!
>>53500941
Seconding this, Kendrick is a much better rapper than Kanye (or just about anyone popular right now, Killer Mike might be the only comparable guy I can think of), and is also much less of an asshole in the public sphere so the reaction is obviously going to be better. Mr. Lamar is writing at his densest here, as well, and as such the message in the song is actually pretty complicated.

>Kendrick literally jacked the dark dancehall chorus straight from Yeezus.

>Kendrick literally jacked the dark dancehall chorus straight from Yeezus.
I don't really know enough about dark dancehall's presence in rap music to agree or disagree with you here, but it wouldn't surprise me if he got the idea from Kanye. While Kendrick is far and away the better lyricist and rapper of the two, Kanye is definitely the better producer and arranger.
>>53499812
theres actual lyrical substance to the track, unlike anything on yeezus
this is coming from someone who doesn't even like either of the artists

It's still a terrible album and he's a terrible person.
Kanye gets a lot of hate not cause he's shit because he's overrated as fuck and people really believe he's a genius because his marketing team made them beleive that
Kanyes an above average rapper, yeah he's made some decent music an he's talented in comparison to his peers
He's not superman, he doesn't have magical powers, he wasn't born with some special secret ingredient. He's just a decent rapper and producer
It's the ones who suck his cock because he tells them he's a genius that attract the hate cause literally anyone with mental capibalities too think about things from a logical stand point can see straight through this bull shit

>>53502503
it's like when people thought lil wayne was the best rapper alive 10 years ago, it's so easy to brainwash young hip hop fans
I'm white and I find the song offensive
>>53502747
its a "white people who think their limited knowledge of hip hop makes them cool" thing
>>53502747
You're white as fuck, stop acting like you're "down with the brothas"
>>53499812
Ok cucklet, heres the difference. Kendrick is trying to bring issues to light about hypocrisy on both sides of racial issues. He's addressing viewpoints to a wide audience including many young developing minds. His music induces critical thinking about society and systems of oppression. His goal is to change the lives of kids for the better and to endorse educating oneself.
Kanye was expressing anger at the system of oppression that he feels is holding him back. He's not necessarily voicing the peoples opinions but his own grudges.
>people thought lil wayne was the best rapper alive 10 years ago
But he was though, if not at least of them.
Early Wayne was amazing, the drugs obviously ruined him. Same with Eminem.
>"it's tricks the listener into thinking it's pro-black!"
Anyone who says any variation of this is part of the problem. How the fuck is constructive criticism anti-black?
Is it remotely possible that one can criticize white opression and black ignorance at the same time without being forced to a side?
>>53503619
Not even close. He had a good mind for whacky metaphors and fun wordplay, but that was it. When the drugs fried his head he lost anything that made him even slightly interesting.
>>53503619
Except Eminem's best music came when he was the most fucked up
>>53503721
It wasn't the drugs that made Eminem's early music good, kiddo.
>>53503721
so the reason his music became horrible was not due to him going clean?
>>53504077
it was due to him losing his edge, people weren't shocked or offended anymore, so he just went pop. he was incapable of doing something good that didn't rely on edginess.

It is pretty amazing. Again, thanks to Kendrick for leaking this album to most everybody who has been on Interscope and not expecting any consequences for it.

>>53504566
>>53506362
Btw, does "Awaken" mean anything to you?
>>53506625
Yep. It's some fake album cover/tracklist made a couple of months ago. They squashed the rumor like a week afterwards. Though I didn't really know for sure until the listening party last week.
>>53506775
Alright, I was just interested seeing how King Kunta and Black Mamba appear on both tracklists.
Jesus Christ, Black culture is so fucking corny.
If white people were doing this we'd be calling out how fucking lame it is. But since it's black people "LE CULTURED AND ARTISTIC :^)"
>>53506976
Dunno. From what I know King Kunta and Black Mamba were both planned singles that were cancelled. Chances are someone picked up on those tracks and they threw them on their tracklist
>>53501534
You do know that /pol/ is back to normal right? Every time you blame /pol/ for something you look both uninformed and look like a biggot towards other political biases
