Turns out that Brian Eno was a big endorser of generative music. He made an album "Generative Music 1" but it was extremely limited in print.

I read a book about that. Sounds really cool. Wasn't able to find that album or anything like it then I forgot about it.

I've read Gareth Loy's Musimathics volumes and found it incredibly comprehensive.

A music professor at my school writes algorithmic music. I believe what he does is devises an algorithm and runs it through a computer program to generate the notes and then tweaks the result. But I'm not 100% positive on that.

The method of composition comes off as somewhat artificial for the obvious reason of involving a computer, but it can be interesting if you're in the mood for atonal music. I find it exhausting to listen to for extended periods of time.
