Pre-prison Burzum was nihliistic as fuck, just look at the lyrics to Det Som Engang Var or Erblicket Die Tochter Des Firmament. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wry9G6rcdQw& Lyrics: http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/burzum/hvislysettaross.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48Z2h1pNytg Lyrics: http://www.stlyrics.com/songs/b/burzum10525/erblicketdietochterdesfirmaments828399.html
Isn't most music nihilistic. I mean, existentialism, to me, is a means to address nihilism. Most music is a result of the maker trying to create meaning in a meaningless universe. You don't have to listen to fucking black metal for nihilistic art, something as introspective as, say, Bright Eyes can be nihilistic because Oberst's lyrics focus inwards on the only thing he knows to be true- his feelings.
I was raised by nihilists and am one myself, and my family's never listened to special music. Tho, I do think that some noise, due to how selfish it is, espouses the philosophy p well. Screaming about anal shit rape over a bunch of guitar pedals just seems like silly bandwaggoning tho.
>>53283178 (Guy how posted Celeste songs here.) THat's quite interesting. I am pretty nihilistic myself (I used to read a lot of Emil Cioran but I've overcome this attitude - not to say "these ideas" since nihilism isn"t a philosophical system). Yet I consider music to be my main reason to live and never in my life am I given the opportunity to fell an impression of fulfilment and authenticity as strong as in musical experience. For me music is the absolut negation of all nihilistic feeling that assault me from time to time, it gives me the impression that everything has a true meaning and a role to play in the universe (which is intellectually absurd). Once again, see Cioran's ideas about music.
I would say that there is no nihilistic music, I mean: nihilism is not an idea or a set of ideas but rather a feeling. There sure is music that delivers nihilistic messages, but there is no music that feels (underline "feels") nihilistic. It can be gloomy, depressing, morbid, but in no way can it give you the impression that everything is deprived of meaning.
Aside from the fact that you type l8ke an idiot, how is most art not nihilistic? I don't think projecting your own meaning onto the universe is at odds with nihilism because we're human and it's perfectly normal to try to create reason in an existence which is literally nothing but mechanical cause and effect going back to the Big Bang and more. A guy wearing corpse paint and screaming about nothingness is still creating meaning in the universe for himself. The only sense I can make of this world is whatever I find in myself, and I like Ace of Bass.
>>53283856 That's just not the definition of nihilism, it as nothing to do with muh lack of meaning I have to fill. Existentialism (since you refered to it) is high school attention whore nihilism, true nihilism is a feeling, and I'm just saying that listening to music can't recreate that feeling.
