ITT: We compare musicians to directors
I think that Nolan is most comparable to Radiohead. Both are pretty good at what they do, but they just make more "accessible" versions of the stuff that influenced them. For some reason, they are hailed as the second coming of artistic Jesus by people who don't know any better.
Kanye = Tarantino.
Both are noted assholes with an over inflated ego. Both have a major tendency to use samples. Both constantly get heavily praised no matter what they do (save for one or two exceptions)
great thread

Scorsese = Spoon
Each piece has the same tone and has many of the same elements but at the same time they're all so damn good.
Ingmar Bergman = Bob Dylan
Critically acclaimed and revered by many, particularly for his writing abilities, considered a legend and can generally be found in "greatest of all time" lists, prolific and consistently high quality output over the 60s
BONUS: They both released the work most popularly considered their "masterpiece" in '66 (Persona/BoB)

I agree with both of these
Skrillex = Michael Bay
Shitty content but "flashy". Also, "bro"core.

Martin Scorsese is Frank Zappa, everyone talks about how he's the best and anywhere you go you'll find dickriders, made a lot of movies/music, and even though he's made some really good shit, there's some really mediocre work along with some really pretentious shit too

Miles Davis = Kubrick
