>Simple
>Pretty as fuck

What albums do you think have beautiful production and style /mu/?
>>
>>53124540
Albums like Pink Moon, The Glow Pt 2, All Hail West Texas and even 1990 are striking to me because of the way that they're as simple as can be: one guy with a guitar and very rarely some sparse accompaniment, and yet they're so powerful and beautifully emotional

good choice too
>>
>>53124687
All Hail West Texas has made me cry on more than one occasion. I rarely get really into an album but that has been one of the few to just reach a whole other lever. Same with Lost Wisdom. Especially since I just went through a rough breakup.
>>
>>53124823
I find myself getting more and more into emotional music now. Albums like american football's s/t and the world is not a cold dead place just have some beauty to them that I can't put my finger on. It just makes me want to cruise around town in a gentle rain while everyone is asleep and think about life. I never realized that music could affect me so much before discovering music like that.

>All Hail West Texas
my displaced african
>>
>>53124952
I do that all the time. Being up in Vermont and the wilderness, everytime I need to cool off or just be I just drive aimlessly and listen to an album or two. It's almost more relaxing than meditation
>>
>>53125245
shit yeah dawg. I live in upstate NY, nothing better than driving around in the mountains and listening to music
>>
>>53125245
suburban MA here, but in the summer I spend a lot of time up in northern NH. There's really nothing like driving through rural New England with only your thoughts

>>53125027
ayyy what up homie

>>53125368
I'm only in Vt for college. I'm originally suburban Mass too. Rural NE can't be beat. I love it.
>>
>>53125520
UVM? If so, I'm jealous. I would've loved to go there, but never applied because it's so expensive. Even if not UVM, all of Vermont is gorgeous
>>
>>53125245
My negro. Hanover New Hampshire here. Nothing better than just finding some road and touring the twin states to the tune of an awesome album. I honestly feel like I haven't really listened to an album until i've listened to it while driving.

>>
>>53125593
Nah, Lyndon State up in the NEK. It's not terrible, the area is fucking gorgeous though. I do love Burlington, and I have a few friends who live there. I actually got to see Mount Eerie there a few years back. Amazing show.
>>53125664
I'll be driving through Hanover tomorrow! I've gotta go to Greenfield, MA to renew my license. I usually just run albums on repeat until I know them so well. I love albums and driving.

>>53125695
Vermont's a really pretty place too, I have less foggy pics, but they're pretty close up. Here's top of Mt.Pisgah though

did you see em at higher ground? I live in plattsburgh, and the only reason I ever see good bands is higher ground
>pic related is whiteface mountain

while the rockies are beautiful and majestic in their own way, i don't think they compare at all to the absolute serenity of being alone in the silence of the woods in New England in the fall foliage

I like how this is pretty much a beauty of nature gen thread

peep some more adirondacks
>>
>>53125985
Nah, this was a smaller show back in 2012. It was at North End Studio A. It was like them playing in a place the size of a VFW if you've never been. Even met Phil there, he was selling merch and super nice. I love higher ground though. I saw NMH there in october and I'll be seeing St. Vincent in march. I'm so excited
>>
>>53126047
I mean, nature and beautiful albums do go together

i bet it's beautiful anon, im only jokin. I'm also partial to the southwestern states like utah and arizona. I am a big hiker and i've seen some amazing canyons and rock formations while being over 50 miles from another living person. I even did the hike where that guy had to hack his arm off to get out (blue john canyon)

i've never been to the northeast but i'd like to go sometime

shit bro, I literally have a tab open to the site as I contemplate if I should get tickets to St. Vincent
>>
>>53125862
Nice. I'll be sure to leave some vinyls strewn on the highway for you.

>>53126043
Shit man. I am. Dorm? Rauner here.

>>53126068
Oh dude, I saw NMH up at Higher Ground as well. Did you see those two girls get taken out for under aged drinking?
>>
>>53126111
I'd love to see the south west and hike/climb some of those beautiful big red plateaus and see the canyons. Hell I'd love to see the whole US. Montana is really pretty looking. You got yourself a fine state
>>
>>53126047
i love the fog.

imma post some pics of glacier natl park now. none of these are mine, because im in the process of trasnferring my several thousand photos to my new HD
>>
>>53126143
You should get those tickets. I've heard nothing but amazing things about her live. And everything I've seen on youtube looks awesome.
>>53126180
please do! I need new records. Seeing as I'll be seeing almost all of Rt. 91 for 2 hours both ways. And was that the September 10th show? If so I didn't see them but that's hilarious and I could see that happen with some of the people in that crowd that night
>>
>>53126275
>You should get those tickets
just bought 'em
>>
>>53126186
most states have some amazing scenery. When i moved from IL to MT i drove across north dakota listening exclusively to earth, gy!be and these guys >>53125505 and it was a transformative experience. we passed a huge field fire as sleep was climaxing. amazing stuff
>>
>>53126047
is that avalanche pass?
>>
>>53126335
>>
>>53126392
sure is anon, sure is
>>
>>53126395
last one. when i say these aren't mine, my other friend took them when he visited me from ND. poor guy had to deal with -40F winds this winter.
>>
>>531263275
That show is going to kick so much ass.

also for more fog and mountains. Pisgah again. It's beautiful in late november
>>
>>53126180
I am at North Mass. Currently hoping that this snow storm coming up closes out class on Tuesday. I will not have my work for Ec 82 done by then. What is your Blitz?

Seems like we should arrange a New England /mu/ meet up. Looks like there are quite a few of us.
>>
>>53126446
I think that is one of my favorite spots on earth, but maybe I haven't explored enough yet
>>
>>53126480

This album really has a very consistent vibe theme aesthetic etc etc. And its really good
>>
>>53126519
wrong one! I'm the one in the middle with the walking stick. That's a buddy of mine
>>
>>53126517
That's the first place I ever drank beer, and the first place I ever kissed a chick. You could do a hell of a lot worse as far as favorite spots go.
>>
Idk something about this album always gets me
Not even a mountain goats guy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lxSItjgY-w
>>
>>53126656
My favorite thing about that album is the scale. A lot of albums go for large and sweeping or close and personal, but tallahassee is like just removed enough to capture all of the emotions of the situation
>>
>>53126656
Tallahassee has always been a close second for me in the post 4-track era. Sunset Tree, as stereotypical of an answer this might be, always has edged it out just a tiny bit more.
>>
>>53126717
If we're going everything he's ever done post-super lofi stuff, tallahassee and sunset tree come in at a close tie for second to We Shall All Be Healed
>>
>>53126708
Yeah man you just described it perfectly
John is just full of these insightful one liners, Idk how he comes up with them, it's like he's lived all these lives.
>>
>>53126775
I could never really get into We Shall All Be Healed. I don't hate it, I love a couple of songs off of it. I just never got it as a whole for some reason

I won't give out my Blitz on 4chan, but if you're in Collis at like three to four tomorrow look for brown hair with white AKG 701s. I'm going tutoring some high school girl.
>>
>>53126808
>>53126837
I'm super excited for that new album too
>>
>>53127158
After reading Wolf in White Van, I couldn't be more excited for the next album. Like his writing stepped up about 15 notches with that book.
