Greatest hip-hop albums of all time; the only hip-hop albums that I can truly give a 10/10.
May ot be everyones cup of tea, but Danger Doom is 10/10 imo.
This is the best Wu Tang affiliated album of all time and a personal 10/10
Only faggots insult death grips on this board. Death grips are a pretty good band, and Money Store is a great album. The only people who post "le meme grips xddd" are the ones who haven't actually heard their discography.
Obviosuly Good Kid, M.A.A.D City is one of the best hip-hop albums.
For all the good things about that record there is also a lot of bad. It's like a 7/10 but in a very different way than Doris was a 7/10. Earl is like a bunch of 10's and 5's. Doris is all 6's and 7's.
Earl is like 6/10, that's when he was trying to copy Tyler and shit. Doris in my opinion is at least 8/10. I think his next album will be godsend, it's a time where is his style has matured and his rhymes have gotten even more complex.
I'm comfortable giving this a 10
Hive, Centurion, and Whoa are not 6s or 7s
the money store is shit, fuck you.
GP was when they really started being good.
NLDW has improved production, GP has improved lyricism and NOTM was both at the same time, noice.
TMS and exmil are their worst albums.
this right here
Prince among thieves
...these are all really great albums that No one knows about
It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
Fear of a Black Planet
Moment of Truth
The Main Ingredient
Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers
AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted
The Low End Theory
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...
Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde
93 til Infinity
Things Fall Apart
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person on /mu/ who thinks pic related is GOAT. Please tell me I'm not alone.
>I can easily just listen to this whole album in one sitting
Friendly reminder that if listening to a whole album is any sort of accomplishment for you, you should get the fuck off this board.
Not talking about the sex and da epik drugs like exmil and tms.
It's more paranoid and about alchemy lots of lyrics with more than one meaning, far more cryptic than the shit on exmil.
Seriously the lyrics on exmil were ass, at least tms had some weirdness.
The most obvious would be beware on exmilitary where mc ride smokes a joint and fucks a bitch.
So deep lyrics.
Compare that to birds or two heavens on gp, quite a lot of the songs on gp are about shit going on in real life plus paranoia from drugs.
I don't disagree but I would exclude Illmatic. Just my personal opinion
These are pretty on par as well
and while I do like these, they just don't cut it for me.
main source breaking atoms
brand nubian one for all
eric b and rakim
pete rock and cl smooth
a bunch of stuff that's already been mentioned ITT
great list, i think you need ghostface's solo debut on there though
big daddy kane - long live the kane
boogie down productions - criminal minded
I hover above you
Life pulled out your mouth
I become you
Opening of the mouth
Jellyfish in cold sweat deep end
Hollow shell twitch disconnection
Hijacked no questions asked
Stretch you on like latex mask
My sigils your epitaph
this verse might be one of the best in the history of hip hop.
Madvillainy isn't even DOOM's best album... I think MM... FOOD is way better.
Wu Tang Clan: Enter the Wu-Tang
Cannibal Ox: The Cold Vein
Cypress Hill: Cypress Hill
Mos Def: Black on Both Sides
A Tribe Called Quest: The Low End Theory
Aesop Rock: Float
GZA/Genius: Liquid Swords
El-P: Fantastic Damage
Company Flow: Funcrusher Plus
Are some of my favourites.
Earl and Doris are both just as good. 7/10.
Doris can be more depressing, but we get to listen to Earl's psyche than on EARL. EARL maybe 2edgy4U, but it the whole album is pretty uplifting with it's production, clever word play, and his flow from a young age.
Why put The Money Store when this is arguably better?
Why?To only be contarian? In ten years,People will look back at it as fondly as people do illmatic.Everything about that album is exceptional. The way the story is told,The lyrics,The emotion in Kendrick's voice,It just all comes together and it's one of the few albums were I know every word in every song because I've played it so much
But it's really great.Super grear,Greater than any other great album ever in the great world
Come on nigga,WHY do you refute my claim,Bullet points or something.
And yeah,I do.It's an amazing album with no bad tracks on it.Even if the illmatic comparison isn't too held together,I would put it on the same level as mbdtf
Not sure if I like Nia or Blazing Arrow more. Right now I think Arrow is slightly better. But they're both amazing albums.
Fucking classic in my opinion
w/e you're right and they're wrong. too stupid to realize the layers in the album.
>mfw they probably don't realize it starts in medias res and the sherane theme at the beginning of the album and the end of poetic justice signals that we're back to events that happen right after the beginning of the album and everything before that was in the past.
How can this be not posted yet?
Blue Carpet Treatment was alright. Doggfather was not bad either.
most of his albums have a couple of good tracks and imo No Limit Top Dogg is a p great album... not Doggystyle level but its not shit..
Oh yeah, if you like D'Angelo, you'll like Lauryn Hill
People get confused what exact genre is Gorillaz, but I just put it as Alternative. I liked their debut better
Well ya gotta hand it to Jay, he still forces himself to stay current for over 20 years. In the early 2000's the best thing he put out was Blueprint and Black Album. In the early 2010's it was only Watch The Throne
Not necessarily a 10, but one of the best hip-hop albums ever made
i listened to death grips once man i better stick to the usual YU HEARD!! -C murder
Deep Puddle Dynamics - The Taste of Rain... Why Kneel?
OutKast - Aquemini
Hymie's Basement - Hymie's Basement (I'm not even sure if you can call this hip-hop, but fuck it)
Both of cLOUDDEAD's albums
Busdriver - Fear of a Black Tangent (I really like Perfect Hair, Temporary Forever and Cosmic Cleavage, too)
Open Mike Eagle - Rappers Will Die of Natural Causes (Dark Comedy and Unapologetic Art Rap aren't that much worse)
Serengeti has at least a couple.
I think Midnight Marauders is better than Low End Theory
>>53008882 (cept Money Store)
these do it for me:
Enter the Wu-Tang
Black on both sides
Moment of Truth
Soundpieces: Da Antidote
I can't fucking believe no one has posted this yet, easily one of the greatest albums since 2000.
Labor Days is amazing... but I've always preferred None Shall Pass.
