Are there any videogame soundtracks /mu/ considers worth listening?
This one and pic related. Solar Fields did it
There are a lot of video games with great music, but not a lot of great video game soundtracks if that makes sense.
Not many soundtracks that you could listen to on their own from start to finish on top of my head.
Fallout 2, Grim Fandango, Unreal Tournament and the Tropico soundtracks

The Sims: Makin' Magic
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (dat orchestral writing)
Super Metroid and Warcraft II for retro
Metroid Prime for modern synth and production goodness
Oblivion and Morrowind had great scores, I'd happily listen to the Oblivion exploration soundtrack on its own.
Mah Nigga! came in to post this
>dat enchanted woods
Not to worry, the vidya jazz funk disco brigade has arrived!

Some of Yamaoka's best work, right here. Better than the SH3 soundtrack for sure.
This game was the shit, soundtrack fit perfectly and is a great listen by itself. Want similar albums.
>that autobahn remix
So good. AC definitely has the best soundtracks out there.
My favorite from the series might be this one.
Sunrise is my favorite album though.
Easily better than both of the previous two games' soundtracks, and with a badass cover to boot.
The Bastion soundtrack is phenomenal. I played Transistor a few weeks ago and it was also phenomenal, Supergiant are on some next level shit.
Anyway, has anyone played Stubbs the Zombie? The game itself is pretty rad (though kind of clunky to control) but the soundtrack is the best thing about it IMO. It's all covers of songs from the 50s by indie bands.
i posted this in an earlier thread but
Nier, Chrono Cross, Shadow Hearts 1, Katamari Damacy, Kingdom Hearts, Okami, Darius Gaiden, DKC2, Shadow of the Colossus, Guilty Gear XX, Mighty Switch Force, Dustforce, Baten Kaitos, and most of the Touhou games
Wow, no mention of Streets of Rage 2?
Also, Batman and Robin on Genesis had some good shit. Featuring Jesper Kyd before he went on to make movie-type video game music that appears in "1 hour epic music" playlists.
If you can look past the length, then be ready for a sprawling epic of 60's spy-action soundtrack pieces mixed with breakbeat and ambient techno, all while keeping emotion at the forefront. Perfection by vidya standards.
Also, my personal favs:
Super Mario Galaxy 1&2
Sonic Adventure 2
Mario Kart 64
Shadow of The Colossus
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
GTA San Andreas/IV/V
Star Fox 64
Diddy Kong Racing
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Final Fantasy X-2
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Mario Kart 8
Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire
Road Rash 3: Tour De Force
Streets of Rage
Super Castlevania IV
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Monkey Ball
Super Monkey Ball 2
>Diddy Kong Racing
>Donkey Kong Country 2
Rare stuff from the 90's either had really great music, or just makes me nostalgic. Hearing any of the music from those games brings the biggest smile to my face.
The problem is autistic subhuman /v/ faggots overrate these to the point they consider these to be better than real music
No, you retard, you don't like the soundtrack, you like a few select songs from the soundtrack, that's not the same thing as saying the whole thing is good
Any album that only has two or three good songs out of twenty or thirty would be trash
