Elvin Jones and Jimmy Garrison- Illumination (1964)
>avant-garde, post-bop, free jazz
>John Coltrane’s longtime rhythm section released this album in 1964 with a sound that was a bit more free and unusual than what most of them would do in the future. The feel sticks mostly to a solid swing from Garrison and Jones, but the soloists (Sonny Simmons on alto and English horn, Charles Davis on bari, and Prince Lasha on clarinet and flute) take liberties and push things into the realm of free improv.
Michael Formanek- Small Places (2012)
>progressive mathematical composition, free improvisation
>Led by bassist Michael Formanek, this quartet performs tightly structured music based on interlocking patterns and then expanded upon with tight, synchronistic group improvisation that relates closely to the themes presented in the composed material.
Made this request last night and didn't get any responses.
Does anybody have any Oingo Boingo links? I checked the archive and there's nothing but Only a Lad.
Charlie Parker and Lennie Tristano- Complete Recordings (2006)
>This is a compilation of all the recordings that Bird and Tristano recorded together, including a couple amazing duet recordings. Unfortunately on some of the quintet and sextet recordings Tristano doesn’t get to solo but these recordings are still a treasure.

>released 13 January 2015
>Produced by Kieran Hebden
Arsenio Rodriguez- Quindembo/Afro Magic (1963)
>conjunto, Latin fusion
>Known for being more of a traditional conjunto tres player, Rodriguez mixes things up by adding saxophone to his ensemble and removing the trumpet and piano.
Orrin Evans- Easy Now (2005)
>post-bop, free jazz
>One of the most unique and versatile pianists around, Orrin Evans recorded this record in 2005 and it is one of his most free and adventurous. It was a tribute to his father who passed away that year, so there are several ballads dedicated to him, but the playing stays consistently exciting, adventurous and free.
Gerardo Nunez- Calima (1998)
>Nunez is a Spanish guitarist and one of the best in nuevo flamenco, which mixes traditional flamenco guitar with North American improvisational styles as well as Caribbean and Brazilian music influences.
Lionel Belmondo- European Standards (2012)
>third stream, post-bop
>This is a saxophone trio, playing fairly straightforward post-bop. The inspirations for the music, the “European Standards,” are interesting versions of popular compositions by the great European composers.
