Aldemaro Romeo- Dinner in Caracas (1955)
>Venezuelan folk, traditional, classical
>These are orchestral arrangements of traditional Venezuelan folk tunes from various genres like joropo, waltz, bambuco, and merengue (very different than Dominican merengue). The merengue might be the most interesting of Venezuela's folk dances because it is in a mutated version of 5/8, that doesn't have a correct way to be notated.

Kenny Wheeler- The Long Waiting (2012)
>big band, modern jazz
>Legendary trumpeter Kenny Wheeler just passed away this past September at 84 years old. This recording was one of the last big projects he did. It’s an original work for big band, with extremely well written and orchestrated parts. What really makes the music interesting is the wordless vocal part (sung by Diane Turturo) which acts almost as just another instrument in the big band.

David Axelrod- Heavy Axe (1974)
>soul, funk, jazz
>This is a great blend of funky, jazzy soul. Axelrod includes some of his own interesting pieces but also does some great covers of tunes like “You’re So Vain” and “Cast Your Fate to the Wind.”
