why does fantano ride their dicks so hard?
>>
>>52673319
He likes them?
>>
>>52673319
because fantano doesnt really like hip hop at all in the first place so when a group does something thats outside of the box he likes them like clipping for example they have noise into hip hop. no 1 has done that b4 amiright??
>>52673342
9/10
>>
>>52673319
Because it is a good hip hop album and Run The Jewels a shit.
>>
>Relatively common hip-hop tropes combined with irritating noise
>Good

>Ignorant, cringeworthy lyrics
>They're intentionally bad so it's okay

I'll admit the guy's a talented MC, but they don't do anything interesting with it.
>>
bc fantano is a raging homo
>>
>>52673365
I never really liked hip hop growing up so I totally feel like this applies to me. I had only listened to enough to have an idea on what cliched hip hop was, so unorthodox hip hop is how i got into it.
>>
>>52674607
what hip hop do u like anon? im kinda the same way but i appreciate the OGs
>>
>>52673365
I'm kind of the same though. Hip-Hop is largely stagnant and uninspiring. Name one Hip-Hop album with a serious demeanor outside of "the urban struggle" AND CHALLENGING composition.
You probably can't name one.
>>

Pop music
>>
>>52674964
That's a loaded question. I could reply close to anything and it'll be turned against me.

I just want somebody to provide some serious, challenging Hip-Hop. But they can't.
>>
>>52675000
Challenging hip hop? What do you mean? Have you ever listened to the new run the jewels album by the way?

Hip-Hop in shifting time signatures, with sophisticated, rich harmonies, with broadly sweeping language addressing a variety of topics.

>>

>with sophisticated, rich harmonies
Not at all.
>with broadly sweeping language addressing a variety of topics.
Looks like somebody has never read real poetry
>>
>>52675088
I think you're thinking "challenging" hip hop too specifically, and what you really mean is just your hip hop taste. I don't really see rich harmonies being challenging but alright.
I only truly listen to rap, I have some hip hop albums but i'm prettu sure you wouldn't like them. Hip hop was loved back then because of the meanings it had. People related to it because of how they lived, so it's alright man. Just move on.
>>
>>52675148
All I'm asking for is Hip-Hop which can utilize two out of three of these items.
>>
>>52674666
You can't seriously be implying that there aren't? You're saying all this and you're admittedly ignorant of hip-hop.

Anyway, like 4 Kanye albums fit into your arbitrary criteria.
>>
>>52675088
Name one popular music genre that does that.

If you can't relate to hip-hop, just say so. If you want what you asked for try Milo and Busdriver.
>>
>>52675199
Into this criteria? >>52675088
definitely not
>>
>>52675194

He comes close but he's not the perfect match.
>>
>>52675211
You didn't say that originally and that wasn't the post I responded to so, no. But obviously, what you're looking for is not in hip-hop.

You can go back to your ultra-sophisticated death metal in the meantime and continue to refer to everything that approaches THAT arbitrary quality criteria as "memerap".

How about you. Your dismal of entire large section of music is so ridiculously narrow-minded that it doesn't even seem like you're a fan of music at all. Or at least, you can't form an opinion outside of the most pompous of /mu/ niches.

>>52675430
Hip hop isn't music, and certainly isn't a large section.
>>
>>52675331
>>52675336
Just because the urban struggle is a common theme doesn't make it boring. It's much more interesting and real than most of the topics other music touches on, and is actually relatable, but I can see how someone who can't really identify with urban life could get bored of it.
>>
>>52675430
It's not like I DON'T listen to music that doesn't incorporate this. But sectors of Rock do this. Sectors of Pop do this. Sectors of Electronic music do this.

But Hip-Hop can't do this without sounding goofy. As if it were a joke.

>>
>>52675720
What do you mean by harmonically rich? Genuinely curious. I'm not the anon you're replying to btw. This is coming from a moderate Atmosphere fan. A fan of a couple of albums but even that was five years ago.
>>
>>52675713
Talking about mental illness, the negative aspects of drug use and fame, the anxiety of being around people, the questioning of religion and beliefs and suicide are not "shallow lyrically" in any universe.

You haven't heard 90% of those albums, so I can't really expect a valid rebuttal here.
>>
>>52675720
>It's just goofy though.
>Listened to it. It's just not very progressive to my ears.
>No.

Great critique.
>>
>>52675784
In ref to Atmosphere I can't quite say since the last time I listened to a song by him was like 2 years ago in a friends car.
I just don't remember it blowing me away.
>>
>>52675849
What do you want? A fucking paragraph?

All Hip-Hop that seems to try to progress beyond the simple framework of popular music feels like it HAS to be goofy. Imagine if every Prog and Experimental Rock band sounded like Captain Beefheart. It'd be fucking annoying. Or if every avantgarde composer sounded like Charles Ives.

BTI doesn't have anything musically extraordinary to my ears as I recall it. I guess I'll relisten soon.

RTJ has none of the desired qualities so of course its a no.
>>
>>52675789
>mental illness
Something none of them have.
>the negative aspects of drug use and fame
Very shallow, "hurr i did junk now im kleen" isn't deep.
>the anxiety of being around people
VERY shallow, nobody cares about your whiny teenage shit.
>the questioning of religion and beliefs
Dumb 12-year-old crap.
>and suicide
The most shallow.
>MUH GF LEFF ME ;((((((
Pathetic.
>are not "shallow lyrically" in any universe.
Maybe to a raindrop in the Sahara, but to anybody else, yes.
>>52675789
>You haven't heard 90% of those albums,
Heard most by the time I was 14, the rest didn't exist at the time.
Go practice your debate skills on HHH.
>>
>>52675900
My issue is that you're asking for something, getting answers and barely articulated why they don't work for you. Actually, you even admitted that some of the answers did work for you.

What do you want?
>>
>>52674874
>TWRK SUM GIRL
you realize that song is about radical feminism right?

>Twerk somethin' girl, twerk somethin' girl, twerk somethin' girl
>Cut somethin' girl, cut somethin' girl, cut somethin' girl
>Kill somethin' girl, kill somethin' girl, kill somethin' girl
>Eat somethin' girl, eat somethin' girl, eat somethin' girl

it's also about murder and cannibalism...song is like a peter jackson slasher flick.
>>
>>52675907

>>
>>52673319

>>
>>52675907

Even the greatest art song is poor lyrically.

>>52676068

I don't think Milo's music works without some sort of a goofy vibe. I like Toothpaste suburb as well as Things that Happen at Day/Night. However, I don't think Milo's as deep as he thinks he is. He has some clever lines and references, but the humor makes him a lot more likeable between his best parts, otherwise he would come off as just whiney and scatter-brained

>>52674874
I thinks it's pretty obvious you aren't supposed to take the lyrics of the album literally. Listen to the intro, taking off, inside out, ends and it's pretty clear it's introspective an commentary. Not that it will make you like it if you don't. It's just astonishing that the album went over peoples heads when it's not even a super deep album. I hope people aren't like pitchfork and think the album is literally about Daveed being a drug dealer.
