Let's have a good 'ole synth thread.
>>
What's that Lexicon rank effects unit MusicTrackJP swears by?

Also why is MusicTrackJP so based?
>>
>>52010897
should i coa the system 1?

why not?
>>
>>52010932
>why not
Polyphony
Rolan making you pay for things that should be free
Scatter wheel
No classic bender
Rolan stahp
Rolan plz
>>
>>52010932

No.
It's over priced for what it is, and in a year or two you'll be able to cope a second hand one because the rich people that bought them on release will saturate the market when they decide they're bored with them.

The same thing is happening now with the Minibrutes and Bass Station IIs, I got my Minibrute for $275 and have seen Bass Stations as low as $200.
>>
>>52010932

As a general rule, the new Roland digital stuff is pure shit, they're trying to buy time until they eventually release Odyssy reissue, if they ever do.

Fuck Roland.

Post YFW Arturia announces the Polybrute
>>
>>52010984
The TR8 is actually bretty good
The TB3 is also being used by a fuckton of good musicians

Korg is doing the oddy reissue

Also, you're a moron

>and I'm going to buy one to piss everyone off
>>
>>52011003

Go ahead and pay $600 for a digital monosynth, obviously you made up your mind before asking us.
>>
>>52011033
Again, you're proving yourself to be a gigantic idiot. I never claimed to be the guy who asked the question, nor is the system-1 monophonic.

Please stop posting, you're only making yourself look bad

>Arturia and Behringer dominate reinvigored analog market
>outsell shitty, overpriced, digital counterparts
>Korg, Yamaha, Roland forced to compete
>new race to induce cheap, analog synths
>mfw

The market gets what the market wants.
>>
>>52011046

Okay, but why are you being so defensive?
>>
>>52010897
Arturia is the Micheal Jordan of synthesizer companies right now.
>>
>>52011108

Arturia is going to save anime.
>>
>>52011086
I'm honestly glad that they're doing this. Uli Behringer himself said that the current market is overpriced. He also said that the Midas division will be behind it.
>>
>>52011136

There are like a hundred different models of digital synth out right now, they all sound the same, and they all cost like two grand.
>>
>>52011249
Okay. Not quite sure how an analog polysynth ties into that, but okay.
>>
>>52011249
That's called a bad synth
>>

>buying a midi cable to layer with a Volca Keys

yey
>>
>>52011000

>trips

Polybrute confirmed.
>>
>>52011000
I would be cool with that if they used slower envelopes, the superfast one on the microbrute would suck on a polysynth.
>>
>>52011249

> two grand

are you insane?
>>
>>52011801

The Minibrute has a switch that changes the envelope time, I'd imagine they'd put that in a hypothetical polyphonic synth.
>>
so my dad is pretty into his 80's synth music, and since christmas is coming i thought i might get him a synth.
digital synth software was just too much hassle for him and took him away from the keyboard, which is i think an improtant part of it for him.
do you guys have any suggestions on a relatively cheap synth, thats not too crazy complicated to use but still allows him the control over tone that he'd like?
any things to look for or avoid would also be much appreciated

>>52011859
Roland GAIA?

Most of the cheapish ones are kinda dicky. Also Roland suck.

i had a feeling that cheap may not really be an option, but i thought best to inquire nonetheless
thanks

Pull the trigger on an Ultranova?

y/n
>>
>>52011942
Moog bought keyboards almost up to guitar level in coolness and whatever

Roland brought them back to the noise you hear when a singer takes a pause
>>
>>52012063
The design on the ultranova is really early 00's

Apparently it's basically the same engine as the Mininova but I think less performance based, but it's a better MIDI controller.
>>
>>52012143
>less performance based

Kind of funny considering all their promo shit was promoting how great it is for performing.
>>
Are softsynths allowed? What are your favourite softsynths /mu/?
>>
good synth to get my feet wet.
budget is 500ish
>>
>>52012229
I might be wrong.

The mini has more stuff on the faceplate, is what my basis is.
>>
Not really a synth guy but i own a classic Korg Virus. I want to play with it but I havent had the chance. I also dont know how to control it. Anywhere I can look to learn?
>>
>>52012472
No you don't, because there's no such thing as a Korg Virus.
>>
>>52012542
Its a something virus, its just been in my basement. If this thread is still up ill post pictures when i get home
>>
>>52012559
Why would you buy an expensive synth and not use or sell it?
>>
>>52012569
inheritance bro, ive inherited many expensive unique instruments that i have no clue how to use. I also have no musically inclined friends so i cant share the love
>>
>>52012600
What other stuff have you inherited?
>>
>>52012610
The synth, Drone thingy i forget the proper name, this high end drum machine, accordion, 1950's Gibson hollow body, 1979 Gibson Sg, and a moog theremin. Im a guitar player, but the theremin and drone are fun to fuck around with
>>
>>52012386
Minibrute
>>
>>52010924
480L is the OG of reverb nigga.

But the Native Plug-Ins are great, too.
If you have the cash get the hardware stuff.

my LPD8 arrived yesterday
still happy about it
>>
The system 1 looks neat. Don't curr what autists of synth general say.
>>
Does anyone know if Roland and Akai are actually still producing the SP series and MPC's? I really wish someone would come out with some good cheap new samplers, most sp's and mpcs are so fucking overpriced
>>
>>52014820
>looks neat
I don't think you understand what sythesizers are about at all. I'll give you a hint, it's not looks.
>>
>>52014578
I got one too, but I didn't find it that useful actually.
Nice monotron tho.
>>
>>52015533
I don't think you understand that you're taking his wording too literally.
>>
>>52012386 Check out the Novation Bass Station II, I got one on ebay in perfect condition for $370
>>
>>52014820
I'm fond of it if only due to my love of the prospect of utilising FPGAs in hardware synthesizers. It won't be long until my dream FPGA powered multi timbre Physical modelling synthesizer is created by someone
>>
>>52011000
for the price of just buying a bunch of second hand mini and microbrute and daisy-chaining them together. now THAT would be tight
>>52011134
amazing post i love you
>>52011667
#based
i love the mininova to death
>>52012063
listen to other anon and cop the mininova instead. i'm a fanboy, but i also think the performance and funnily enough EXTRA features of the mininova make it a better purchase for a smaller price and smaller footprint
>>52014578
with that kind of format of controller you should have copped a beatstep. the LPD8 has some of the most shit build quality ever. nice feeling pads though. i fucking hate those mini pots
>>52011932
roland is fine and the GAIA is useful, despite being a noisy af synth. it has so many fucking voices that you have to be dumb to not see some fun in it. it can be bent to do interesting things
>>
>>52016226
and give it the log
>>
>tfw really regret not getting a Kingkorg when there was a blowout for 699
>>
>>52017186
>there was a blowout for 699
there was?
>>
>>52017011
>beatstep
This thing seemed so promising until I realised it'd be useless for percussion programming due to not being able to trigger multiple things on the same beat or whatever. Was hoping I could use it as something like a cheaper Spark.
>>
>>52017413
damn i missed THAT shitty detail
