It's been a terrible year for Grime MCs. The good ones have become shit, the new guys are pretty bad, nothing going the right way. Ghetts (abd whatever bellend produced the track) somehow manages to make the GOAT MC bars sound shit.

bleep general is for music that gets played in clubs and sold in hardwax and shit, house, techno, UK bass, jungle etc etc

bloop general is for the home listening side of things... ambient, 'electronica', folktronica, IDM etc.

I think you could have really expanded upon and weirded out the sidechain thing by repeating it longer. When the beat came in (0:14) on an even measure it was like the sidechain had the role of every mediocre sidechaining house song. The only that set it out at that point was that it was lofi. Try to stretch out these little individual sections longer, build up more tension. When they are short and they change up on even measures (like every 8 or 16 bars) it just makes it too... normal.
>>
>>51934962
not him but i never understood what sidechaining is, care to explain?

>>51934962
>I think you could have really expanded upon and weirded out the sidechain thing by repeating it longer.
what do mean exactly, by expanding the phase from 0:00-0:14 when it's just the pad and kick and playing with the pad a bit more? but yeah you're totally right, i'll weird it out and play with starting things on odd measures

was it shit altogether or should I keep working on it you think?

this isn't me btw >>51935029

>>51935021
sidechaining is the compression of a pad or constant sound that creates a dubbing effect with usually the kick or bass

see on the left that i have set the pad to sidechain to the kick

comes with ableton m8
>>
>>51935057
Well, now that i think about it, you are your own artist and you are gonna hear different things in music than I do. I just heard a certain thing in that beginning phrase, it was kinda entrancing. And I thought it would be cool to really drone that out, but thats a whole different direction for your song.
On second listen, I hear what you are doing and it really is fine. Though I think just something needs to really be emphasized and/or stretched out or just more funk in the whole thing.

Nah nah, i was about to say, its pretty cool overall. Sorry i tend to focus on the negative things most of the time.
>>
>>51935194
should i pirate ableton or is it worth it to but it for the support?
>>
>>51935202
And I don't think you need to keep working on it unless you really know what you're going to do with it. Just keep pumpin em out.
>>
>>51935202
>>51935239
I agree though, it was a lazy way to start the song, the pad itself is a cool sound and I can already imagine after maybe 1-2 minutes of that and maybe something else it would really add suspense to the bass sound that comes in at 0:14

Thanks tho, I know where to go with it, I just made it like half an hour ago I just needed a break.
You're the shit.

>>51935219
I pirated mine and it works gr8
if you're rich and you can buy it, definitely do because it's such a quality DAW and they deserve the money, i know nothing about the support

happy tune making bruv
>>
>>51935328
no u da shit

>>51935057
Also, I realize now that the song is only 2 something minutes long. I don't know if you just mouse click composed this song or what, but what really works with this music is just jamming. Especially if you have hardware or midi controllers. Even clicking on clips in session view if you dont have a controller. Just set up your sounds and start jamming. The point is to get away from that timeline view(which leads to a certain sort of thinking with me personally) and from the computer screen ultimately. Then you can really get into the music and build up suspense over longer periods of time.

>>
>>51935881
Well I haven't used FL but Ableton is a superb program.

Session view is the big thing, I think.
Hot swap is really great. You can probably do file replacement in other daws but hot swap brings up the browser window and its just extremely simple. Everything is integrated into the same window.
Midi mapping and keyboard mapping is very easy.
ummm. I know there are other things but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
Even all the basic functions of a DAW and just software alone are organized very well in Ableton.
There are also some things Ableton doesnt do that I wish it would. No voice groups in Drum rack what the fuck.
