Good evening and happy Saturday, December 6th, fellow /mu/tants! With only 4 more days until Christmas, I thought I would share some wonderful, strange, and overall neat music with you all.
I've taken lots of precautions to make sure most of this will be stuff you've never heard before, along with a few albums you might know about. So if you're in the mood for something completely new and something you won't ever see talked about on /mu/ again, stop on in! I've got 11 shares uploading right now, so while we wait, I will share some stuff from the sharethread I did last year!
Arboga Teenage Riot - Ugly Crew Demos
>two Swedish teenage girls doing death metal growls and violent screams over lofi hardcore techno beats and spice girls samples. This is outsider music at it's best, and I highly recommend you check this one out. It's abrasive as hell and kinda frightening, but it's an entertaining (albeit short) listen
stay tuned, I've got about 13 more shares on the way!
The Motion Sickness Of Time Travel - Ballade For A Harvest Moon
>An absolutely stellar 50 minute long piece of ambient drone, and the first in a twelve part series of albums dedicated to the full moons of 12 consecutive months. This album creates enrapturing soundscapes that really draw you in, and it's fallcore as fuck. Great music to drink a hot cup of tea near your christmas tree to
Motion Sickness Of Time Travel - They Came Up From The Hills and Down From The Sound
>MSOTT's first album, released back in 2011. Still wonderful ambient, forestcore droning but this time with a little bit of pop accessibility. A great start to a great musician's career.
Alan Gesso - Abraxas (2014)
>Part scifi futurescapes, part underwater lounge, part interstellar void, and desolate factory, this album is a great piece of psychedelic ambient sounds. It has almost a "retro future" feel to it, like it could be the soundtrack to a scifi movie from days long ago.
Gunner Moller Pederson - Glass Music (1994)
>An ambient album made entirely of sounds sampled from glass and glassware. Wine glass ringing, glass blowing, etc. Glasscore. Glass, the album. Pretty interesting stuff. Hauntingly beautiful
heat sureens - life as a meditation on death
>a mixture of choir style oohs and ambient vocals, field recordings, bells ringing and water noises. This album sounds the same way cold air smells. Music you would expect to play in a derelict cathedral
Piles and Piles - Premonitions Say
>mathrock + shoegaze - "mathgaze"
>dream pop-ish, nice harmonies and layered lush guitars
>new album coming out soon
I Am A Lake Of Burning Orchids - Summer In My Veins
>Harsh noise and depressing synth tunes blended together in a hauntingly beautiful way. There's not much else to say about this one except that if you are a fan of noise at all, you should definitely check it out. It's really good, and a personal favorite of mine.
I Am Just A Pupil - Heartful
>peaceful, fun, happy ambient with pianos and nature recordings. Very calming after a long day and a pleasure to listen to. Very soundtrack-y. Great to put on early in the morning
Les Halles - Invisible City
>Native American flute and peaceful, meditative percussion flesh out this record. uplifting if not downright joyful. This is what new age music would sound like if new age didn't suck
whoops, forgot the art for this one. Also, it's called Invisible Cities, not Invisible City.
Pardon The Interruption - Chael P. Sonnen, American Hero
>The Floral Shoppe of the now dead genre sportswave. field recordings of brazilian rainforests, and ambient minimalist pianos juxtaposed with the greatest trash talker in the history of sports. Chael Sonnen says some really funny shit on this album and its very interesting to listen to this bold bragging against the backdrop of peaceful piano and rainforests
ROW - Strachan
>guitar based ambiance with field recordings and minimalism thrown in for good measure. Relaxing and meditative, a great album to unwind to after a long hard day being a NEET :^)
fuck, forgot the pic again. I was doing so good...
Rafi Bookstaber - Still Way
>Strange, bluesy guitar riffs and backing ambiance. Almost like a very minimalist take on post rock. Kinda depressing but a cool album nonetheless.
Sea Oleena - Sleeplessness
>enchanting and ambient dream pop with cute female vocals and interesting lyrics. What more could you ask for? One of my favorite dream pop albums of all time.
Three more to go folks, and I'll be done for the night. I just ordered some pizza hut and I'm gonna ball out and decorate my christmas tree
Unicity - Self-Titled
>Proggy ambient scifi sounds, with sheer, almost glacial backdrops and bouncing synth. The first time I listened to this I instantly felt a bizarre mixture of nostalgia and deja vu. I recommend checking this out.
Hey, you're welcome! Thanks for checking out. My time as an ambassador to /mu/ has shown me that a lot of you guys discuss the same albums over and over again, and I hope that my sharethreads stimulate some musical exploration or turn someone on to an artist or genre they've never explored before
Victor Florence - Head Full and Heart Full, Making Ready
>lofi bedroom folk spliced with voicemails from his dying friend (or possibly sister). The single most depressing 12 minutes of your life. this album WILL fuck you up.
While I wait for my last share to upload, I just want to thank you all for checking this music out. Also, if anyone wants, I can repost my shares from last years thread. Those include some downtempo, folk, and James Iha's second solo album, which is more Smashing Pumpkins than anything Corgan has done since 2000
Okay, here they come!
Keijo and Jarmo - Talkin Bout Death Past Gone
>Two Finnish guys playing depressing country folk music, in english. music to become an alcoholic to
Noppora Bo - Dream Fever
>Dark and kinda harsh IDM, voidy, strange tunes for sure
Bjorn Torske - Kokning
>Electronica, Norway - The Album
James Iha - Look To The Sky
>like the smashing pumpkins but better
okay everyone, last one for the evening! thank you all for coming. I hope people enjoy this stuff. I'll be hanging around to discuss any of these albums if you guys want!
X.Y.R. - Arktika
>wintercore electronic album, perfect for snowy nights outdoors, very neat music
forgot the fucking pic
Absolutely, would be nice. I'll share some stuff too.
To keep with the winter theme, here's some dark wintry sad pop. One of my favourite albums, thoroughly recommended.
thanks for contributing!
eheheh, I hope you enjoy the stuff
when anyone in this thread gets around to listening to this stuff, and wants to discuss it with someone, you can add me on skype at communicantbias!
Some very under-appreciated trip hop from the 90s.
Fuck, realised I wasn't giving titles.
Saltillo - Monocyte
Fantastic and very interesting trip hop with Shakespeare, violins and heavy drums. Somehow it works.
Yazoo - Upstairs at Eric's
Very pleasant but sad 80s electropop.
La Femme - Psycho Tropical Berlin
Strange and upbeat French pop. You might've heard it on the recent Renault Captur advert.
little teeth - child bearing man
>freak folk, avant-garde, what happens when three classically trained vocalists make weird-ass music, beware of lesbian screeching
The Cassandra Effect - The Cassandra Effect
A concept EP about the end of the world/galaxy/universe. Brooding and great.
That's me for now, goodnight all.
this album is fucking tops
do you have any more freak folk shares or recs?
the only freak folk I know is like, Natalie Rose whatshername, Sung Tongs, and some finnish bands
not much. meme - chitotetochi, holy haunted head - a kali yuga opera, creature speak - for your own sake, and children eating birds - of hospitals, are the first that come to mind, but most of those aren't that "freaky". i could upload them anyway to see if you'd like them.
Creature Speak - For your Own Sake & Howler EP
>folk, cool as fuck, female vocals, smooth, beautiful cello playing
Holy Haunted Head - A Kali Yuga Opera
>freak folk, ghost folk, campfire songs emanating from a forest in the land of the dead
Meme - Chitotetochi
>freak folk, japanese, avant-folk, female vocalists, eerie
Simon Finn - Pass the Distance
>freak folk, lo-fi, very moving
拝借 - かえる目
>freak folk, japanese, avant-folk, cool stuff
children eating birds - of hospitals
>freak folk, avant-folk, drone, jordaan mason side project, very very cool
COMIKET 86 RELEASES
>TONS OF WEEBSHIT
YOU NAME IT
GET IT HERE
But there are no Shakespeare samples in this one, anon. That's in Ganglion. And there's like 3 or 4, tops, and there are other samples in there, too.
Monocyte is a soundtrack to the comic (that Menton illustrated) of the same same.
Both are great albums, though.
I have it on preorder, CD and vinyl. Sucks that it got delayed.
It's verbatim from the comic, but I'm not really sure who's actually speaking in the sample--it's probably Menton.
there was in the beginning. back when le pink grill was a new thing, there was an a
also I feel like I should take this time to remind you all that [s4s] is property of gippo dudee and to kindly fuck off
