Sinners, tonight we have decided upon our new microgenre. Godhaze.
We already know that Godhaze will be inspired by noise, industrial, classical, and traditional religious music. Instruments used will be MIDI choir vocals as well as throat singing, chanting, and speaking in tongues. There will also be distorted organs and harps, and big booming drums and cymbals. Anything associated with any religion can be used.
There is still a lot we need to decide. Get in here to help sculpt this genre. What will the aesthetic be like? What will the message be, if any? I am working on a demo track now, I encourage others to do the same.
I think the message should be about transcending our human bodies to become one with ancient gods
Also let's actually make some music for this genre and not just slow down grunge tracks or muzak
take your umbertbro ecojams shit away, godhaze is patrician
but anon reddit only recognizes 4 genres
>indie (anything that isnt classic rock)
I love the inclusiveness of 4chan. where else can i go for vapor-mist-steam-wave

I'm glad I was sitting down because I don't think I can handle this. This sounds...good. Don't fuck this up godhazers.
Would this be a good example for godhaze?
This sounds very interesting. I might be interested in participating. What if samples are used unobtrusively and are changed significantly, but the core music is still non sample based?
I says the comedy is that it's serious.
this is a strange enough new play on words
I say the tragedy is how you're gonna spend
the rest of your nights with the light on
So shine the light on all of your friends
well, it all amounts to nothing in the end.
umeberto ecojams rightfully won the poll, but the fine folks of /mu/ just weren't ready for sick jams inspired by such great books as "Name Of The Rose" and "Foucault's Pendulum."
stop forcing microgenres
vaporwave happened because of people like daniel lopatin and vektroid doing their thing and then having tons of copycats. this sounds contrived and fucking stupid.
No critique of religion or critique of capitalism or nietzche oceangrunge shit. This will be epic and transcendental and as we create our Godhaze, we will all become one with the spirit of God, the highest power of the universe
Our religion is godhaze, we don't refer to any other
Everyone, I think trying to choose a specific religion or even specific image of god will result in more argument.
Godhaze is about our perception of God and how are beliefs are created based on our culture's image of God. This is not about a God, it is about all Gods and the effects they have on us
Also, I think you'll like the track I'm working on now
No he's right, after vaporwave managed to happen through Floral Shoppe and the other tenets coming together and inspiring copycats, every asshole with an idea for a microgenre wanted to jump into the fray. See: Oceangrunge, sportswave, seapunk, and this.
i don't give two hecks my point is it's another stupid genre like aliencore that is going to barely wheeze on by.
musicians can experiment without stupid labels on them
fuck off poseidon
I like the "transcendence" aspect of godhaze. Godhaze ought to be the kind of music that can make you feel as though you are one with the divine (whatever that might be). Another term could well be "trancendental grungewave".
Then, we could invert it and create is dissociative and satanic twin, blackhaze.
I appreciate that others have been uploading but this is what my vision has been. I'll been listening to other's now.
VOTE FOR THE PROTOTYPE
I like it
Not quite as orchestral as I would have liked but I think you did a decent job of capturing the transcendental feeling that this genre should have
A very good first attempt
Oceangrunge is basically where the past of the 1990s alternative scene collides with the contemporary post-internet currents.
It's what happens when you reverberate grunge until it sounds like the ocean. Add sorrowful whalesong to taste.
It's as if the seapunks got bitter and turned to hard drugs.
Lotus Flowers is the only one that will actually catch on as a genre that people will make. Twistpillar is the wrong direction for this. I'm going to work on something like Lotus Flowers but with a greek orthodox influence instead of hinduism.
I'm going to be rockist for a second and say that we need "real instruments".
Pull out your Tibetan singing bowls, your chimes, your hand hand bells, and your church organs.
But Sea of Dogs does and he invented the genre.
Oceangrunge is still a nebulous term so we need more people working together to narrow the sound.
Right now, it is a weird intersection of three currents: drone/shoegaze, ambient/vaporwave, and rock/metal.
no i understand i just thought it was coming from the post-internet realm of things, "which is the type of music i produce", so the direction its going in is something i dont really see myself doing but i still support it
I think the album art should be more minimalist, more like swans covers.
We're going with Lotus Flowers, the people have spoken. And Lotus Flowers isn't sample-based like vaporwave, it's just droning hazy shit with a sampled chant over it. Twistpillar's isn't something that can become a meme because almost nobody would take time to make it. It would be deader than oceangrunge
I like this idea
for visual aesthetic, the reason I used >>51796307 is because I think it would be nice to focus on original imagery (not stock art, no irony) with themes of transcendence, delirium, euphoria (inb4 memes), and enlightenment (also inb4 memes)
