I found out a lot of what I already liked was considered "/mu/-core" (Burial, flylo, Boris, Deafheaven, Mac DeMarco, etc.), so I don't feel too alienated. I'm also an obsessive Phish fan, but I'm used to everyone thinking they're awful so I stopped caring long ago.

Mainly listen to metal (Torche, Isis, Neurosis, pre-Watershed Opeth are particular favourites), but I grew up listening to a lot of ska (Streetlight Manifesto, Suicide Machines, Mad Caddies), prog (Flower Kings, Yes, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, Zappa) and 90s hip-hop (Gang Starr, Eric B and Rakim, Wu Tang), dated a girl in uni who got me into some indie/folk stuff that I didn't mind (Fleet Foxes, Wilco, DCFC), went through a bit of a jazz phase (Shorter/Weather Report, Return to Forever, Brubeck, Davis, Coltrane, BBNG) and have slowly started getting into more electronic stuff (Squarepusher, Pretty Lights, Blockhead, Bonobo).

Figured I could find some good suggestions for similar stuff here.

Thanks to the Lolicore fad of 2012, I found out about Goreshit who has become one of my favourite breakcore producers now. Still surprised he's unsigned, honestly. He's really matured since his lolicore releases too.

He doesn't seem to be focusing much on the lolicore sound anymore (a bit of a shame as I love Ureshi!!, Tomboyish Love For Daughter, My Love Feels All Wrong and Blue Girl On Sunday) but I really dig his more melancholic works too. As you've said, Semantic Compositions On Death And Dying is definitely fucking awesome, man. Did you know he's put the releases on his bandcamp up for free now?

Sung Tongs, because I never heard of AnCo before

>>
>>51643334
> Did you know he's put the releases on his bandcamp up for free now?

No. Fucking hype.

I wasn't a huge fan of the lolicore, but My Love Feels All Wrong was indeed great.

>>51643478
Glad you like it anon.
>>
>>51641022
Seconding this.
>>
>>51643689
I think he's also putting out a self-released CD. Again, I'm legit surprised he hasn't been signed yet. I'd have though a label like Planet.mu would be all over this dude.
>>
>>51643439
nah, tapes are dumb
I think they were on Funeral sounds? Which is a really good label though.
I did buy most of his stuff on bandcamp.
>>
>>51642870
Not the best one i've found here but fucking great album, underrated outside the /nbbmn/
>>
>>51643716
He's got a huge fanbase for an unsigned artist, I hope he gets picked up by someone.
>>
>>51643716
>>51643689
Agreed, dude is fucking amazing.

I'm not really surprised he's not signed though. He's really good, but explaining to a label that lolicore is/was a thing and that you were a big part of it is whole other story.

He should try touring with some semi-big names, since he's already semi-big himself.

>>
>>51643784
Me too, man. Again, it seems like something Planet.mu would have on their roster.

>>51643792
He has moved on since lolicore now though and seems more focused on breakcore, breakbeat hardcore and whatever fits inbetween. I think he does already tour but I dunno if he tours or supports other acts. I could see him doing well on a Venetian Snares tour.
>>
>>51643810
I eventually found it in the end. Listening to it now.
>>
>>51643813
Normally I would complain, but since the cover is best monogatari I'm willing to let it slide.

>>
>>51643195
Goreshit just released an album like 30 minutes ago too, dude.

MLSFAW HYPE
Those fucking CDs sold out soon as hell, though.
>>
>>51643949

>>
it's gotta be longseason
>>
>>51643923
I was struggling because I just searched the artist name heh. For some reason I initially didn't think to also search a website that it could've been uploaded to.

It's pretty damn good. A truly eerie atmospheric listening experience. Like transcendental black metal done right. It'd be cool if the guy put out another album but I kinda doubt that'll happen.
>>
>>51643949
You know that whenever Goreshit gets signed or blows the fuck up, that CD is going to be worth a lot. Each print had unique artwork too. Sounds so fucking cool, not surprised it sold out so quickly.

not according to the patriarchy. men think that the nude female figure is inherently sexual.
>>
>>51644464
He actually has talked about it so it might happen but it'll probably take years because so did the s/t
>>
>>51641211
oh no! 6 lines!
>>
>>51643369
He's not even that good. There's hundreds of mixtapes that sounds exactly like that. If you like it, that's fine, but don't be mistaken into thinking that he's different from any other bedroom producer rapper.
>>
>>51644867
Well I guess I'd rather he took his time with it and we got an amazing 30 minutes out of it rather than him spending a few days churning out hours or rubbish. As long as we get something from him, I can wait. I bet it'll be damn good.

The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower is pretty jazz-punky. They're just not fronted by a cute Asian woman so this may affect your enjoyment of it.
Mutyumu's second album features the pianist from Midori.
Still a sigure virgin? by Rin Toshite Shigure has lots of whacky crazy pianos.
Shinsei Kamattechan are often compared to them (unrightfully).
Wakusei Abnormal are often compared to them.
Shiina Ringo has similar vocal delivery to Mariko Gotoh imo
You can also listen to the rest of Midori's discography if you haven't.

>>51645939

Still bummed should have been cut to 5 tracks.
I think they're still the best emo band your gonna find still actively making music. The fact that they are a bunch of stoners in a garage in Arkansas is quite remarkable.

English lesson:

In the beginnings of the hip-hop group Odd Future, when Tyler was first releasing songs

>"I got turned on to them on here."
Some faggot posted them on /mu/

>"Fuck you /mu/"
Here, he proposes his disdain for /mu/ introducing him to Odd Future.
