Bear in Heaven - Time is Over One Day Old
most underrated band of the 10's
Boring choice, but I love this fucking album.
Hail Mary Mallon - Bestiary
>Tfw /mu/ never discusses Anna Calvi.
The word pop shouldn't be anywhere near punk you shit. It defeats the entire point.
I guess, but DFA1979 is just about as pop punk as LCD Soundsystem, but that's just in my opinion.
Plus their new album wasn't even all that great anyways compared to their debut.
>muh pop punk isn't real punk
So fucking what? Go cry some more about how punk rock's "aesthetics" have been pretty much dead for the past 30 years.
With that being said, I'm not really a big fan of pop punk either (and most of the stuff that comes out of it nowadays is cringeworthy as fuck), but the Hotelier is probably the only band I'll say that I can really enjoy out of the whole genre.
Kinda up there with 100m100m for me.
I fucking love this.
i'm usually not big on having an aoty, but i think this one takes the cake this year.
I can't wait to listen to this. Gonna make an event of it.
I've still got a lot of stuff to catch up on but right now this takes it, I don't think It'll hold though.
The Coral - The Curse of Love
my aotysf was already posted
so here's another contender
Either this or pic related or O: Konstellaatio
Still need to listen to these
this by far
i'm surprised that this wasn't already posted.

no god why
at least you clarified. p cool
*noodly noodly noodly needly nuuuuu* fucking never.
still need to listen to these
You're an idiot
so are you
This is my album of the year, really liked it. IMO this year has been really bad compared to 2013
Because it's nowhere near as good as real AOTY candidates:

no love for the 2014 albini produced crescendocore postrock meets ethereal wave masterpiece?
this is good too
>this was labeled 'indie rock' when I downloaded it
i actually discovered it through RYM and the genres listed were pretty varied (as i mentioned before, post rock meets ethereal wave). i've never heard it discussed here either
didn't know that but he certainly worked on the album
anyways it's not *exactly* post rock. just listen to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-m1NxD_V3E and tell me that's the work of a shitty GYBE or sigur ros knockoff
Say what you want about Le Goofball (and I certainly think his antics are pretty stupid/immature, etc.) but people that write his music off because of that are really missing out. This is one of the best 'guitar' albums of the year. Listen to the subtlety of his playing. He ties every single lick with a pretty bow, lets the open strings ring out, bends and holds the notes. This guy is one of the best rhythm guitar players in indie music right now, and it's a real shame he's only really known for having bad teeth and wearing shitty clothes.
>Wash The Sins Not Only The Face
i've never listened to that. hell, i just discovered this band through this release. however, RYM seems to claim that A New Nature is a pretty great leap forward. again, i've never heard anything off Wash the sins but i'd expect it to be a bit different
>Don't really see anything that says "post rock" immediatly, but it does have some GY!BE-ish vibes
yeah i agree. it builds slowly (for a 4 minute pop song anyway), which is primarily why i referenced GYBE in the first place. but regardless, i'm glad you like it.
these are favorites as well:
Grouper - Ruins
Spoon - They Want My Soul
The New Pornographers - Brill Bruisers
The War on Drugs - Lost in the Dream
Flying Lotus - You're Dead!
Panopticon - Roads to the North
Fallujah - The Flesh Prevails
yet to listen to:
Mt Silver Zion - Fuck Off Get Free
A Winged Victory For The Sullen - Atomos
currently listening to:
Kairon; IRSE! - Ujubasajuba. and so far its great
i think these are some of the best this year, but it does feel like a thin year
rtj2 is weaker than the original, asher roth is a wack mc, wiz is doing his thing - but still not at the top of his game, atmosphere is so backpack my lumbar explodes every time i see his name, apathy is so mediocre that i can't be angry about it
i liked some of this stuff, but none of it stuck out to me.
i would add the father's brawl ep to your img. one the better releases this year imo
if you go off by # of listens then this is probably my AOTY
These were good, too.
