God-tier ambient thread
>>51006190
I still need to hear that. I love his work with Eno so I need to get right to it
Here's a classic (in my opinion)
This. This album is amazing.
Is this ambient?
It's not in the "Soundcape"/Eno-esque school but it's often labeled as such, and it's god-tier.

>>51006312
I'd say Yanqui U.X.O by Godspeed is right when music stops being ambient. anything slower is fair game.
>>51006312
It's ambient techno, but I'm not going to be one of "those guys" and say it isn't ambient completely
Pete Namlook is ambient techno too and I consider him full-on ambient

I downloaded an ambient alum the other night and I can't remember the name of it. The artist's name was a name, and I think it was a field recording about glaciers

and go home anon you're drunk. Disintegration Loops is probably the most important piece of music recorded since Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring"
>>51008930
All the 9/11 talk bores me to death, but the fucking music. It's devastating and uplifting and it stirs something strong in me.
>>51009222
yea the 9/11 shit kinda can distract from the music but its forever inherently connected. Honestly, the coincidence between Disintegration Loops and 9/11 is like a Paul Thomas Anderson 'Magnolia' coincidence...its honeslty just too powerful a message. to quote Leyland Kirby, "It breaks my heart each time"
>>51008930
>Disintegration Loops is probably the most important piece of music recorded since Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring"
i actually don't know what to say, that's so wrong. it's very beautiful either way though, I felt really great finishing it, cleansed or something
>>51006679
Can recommend. Absolute top5 album for me
>>51006392
also getting this and saying thanks
Thanks
>>51010250
I said probably and its all a matter of opinion anyways. Regardless, I only said that for the mere factor of its irreplacable factor of 9/11/. Its a 'Magnolia' type of coincidence that leaves one to think that it cannot be just a mere coincidence. Either way, its truly a profound and emotionally gripping piece of music and statement

>>51010715
Havent listened to much but my top 5 are
1. SleepResearch_Facility - Deep Frieze
2. Carbon Based Lifeforms - Twenty Three
3. Irezumi - Endurance
4. A winged Victory for the Sullen S/T
5. 36 - Memories in Widescreen (probly not ambient like his others so subtract for any other 36 album) Its great though.
These are mostly bandcamp based, havent listened to many 'mainstream' ambient albums, but now I have some albums to work on thanks to this thread.
this is one of my three absolute 10/10, the other being The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand and Natural Snow Buildings - The Dance of the Moon and the Sun, which can also be somehow labeled as ambient.
Ravedeath tho

>they're posting albums that are well known and critically acclaimed in a thread about examples of the best in the genre! Why aren't you guys posting obscure stuff nobodies heard of that, of course that means it's good!
>>51015499
You are saying critically acclaimed = good while I'm not saying obscure = good. Learn how not to be a fucking retard before trying to reply to me with thos hot fallacies.
>>51015499
These are basic, entry-level albums.
is new age ambient?
>>51015481
care to share?

I have a very shitty connection, if you can wait, no problem.
>>51015380
there isn't a lot god-tier ambient
>>51015791
There is more music besides the 50 albums /mu/ likes to post over and over.

Sorry, that may have been a bit kneejerk reaction, I just hate the air of pretentiousness that comes from alot of people on /mu/ that I can't fucking stand, I just like music man.
>>51015844
It's just annoying to see a thread I might be interested in, and always the same albums over and over. I like music as well, and precisely because of that I'd like to find more stuff. What's the point if everytime there's an ambient thread, there's going to be Eno, Stars of the Lid and Basinski?
>>51015760
i'm still here, if you don't mind
>>51015962
It'll be done in about 20 mins.
Hey
Can someone recommend me more like this?

>tfw "We All Get It in the End"
>>51006190
I think this is a fantastic album.
:zoviet*france: - Shadow, Thief Of The Sun
I'm starting to really love this album. It's not too sugary like a lot of ambient music can be. It's dark but it's not terrifying; just enough to be really interesting. I also like Tin Of Drum and Fires Of The Borderlands by Rapoon. Any suggestions anyone?
ASC - Time Heals All
there is a new album too, haven't listened to it yet though
>>51015883
There are more albums listed here than just those three. Many albums in this thread that are great that you might not have listened to yet. Albums by Biosphere, Eno, SotL and Basinski will all be posted in every ambient thread, because they are good. Learn to start ignoring the things you already know about if you're here to discover new music.
