2014s been kind to us
definitely...The Powers That B, CLPPNG, Lese, So It Goes...all good
Pinata is definitely best hip hop AOTY though...its in my top 5 albums of the year ATM, i really love it. not much else has really stood out, although I have high hopes for Kendrick, and Vince Staples new EP isnt horrible
I would hardly call NOTM hip hop. Just because it has rapping in it doesnt mean it's hip hop. I'd probably call the first half of big dipper hip hop, but not much else.
CLPPNG was really good but had some major downfall, specifically some of the features and the aborition of a song titled "Tonight".
New RTJ will undoubtedly be great, but i don't think it will really go out and do too much unique or anything. Kanye and kendrik are certainly something to look out for. Who knows, kendricks or yeezys new shit might be the best hip hop of the year. But most likely it won't, i still give my hip hop AOTY to >>50656489
I wouldn't call it a perfect album but, i can't really find any complaints about it at the same time. Incredibly unique, creative, and attention grabbing.
I don't see how it being a joke or not is changing anything. I can get the idea of a joke song, but in the middle of an album that's already being serious? Just as bad as just having a regularly shit song.
And just because it's ironically shit doesn't mean it's not still shit. At the end of the day it's a bad song regardless
>but in the middle of an album that's already being serious
the album doesn't get serious until exactly after that track
the A side is them flexing their humouress, playful side
the B side is the introspective polticial and novelistic talent daveed can show off
>not ultimate bitch mixtape
Pretty sad when this has been my favorite album so far this year.
I liked the water[s] mixtape though
I still say it was a genuine attempt. Clipping has always fallen pretty short lyrically. Granted theres some songs with some great lyrics but the rest is shit like
>ALL PURPLE EVERYTHING WHO GOT GRAPES
>REAL G SHIT MEAN DONT SAY NUTHIN
and that's from the same song. And i fucking love bout that.
No love for new Mac? I'm normally a garage punk/jazz guy but this was by far my favourite release of 2014 so far
Nah. Best hiphop of 2014 has to go to something from the New Atlanta movement happening right now. You are straight up missing out if you aren't at least paying attention.
I've been enjoying this recently, it's really...I dunno, minimal and garage-y. Just two dudes in atlanta yelling at you.
People shit on Ross, but Devil is a Lie and Sanctified are excellent tracks. Probably top 10-20 tracks this year.
I think I'm the only dude who actually liked stupid party mac miller. He didn't take himself seriously, and that was cool. Now he's just white Ab-Soul.
