You were lucky if more than 3 people knew the difference between jungle and trance back then, let alone try and get them to listen to singles, comps or mixes.
>>
>>50321618
>all albums
>no singles, EPs, or compilations
Really? I mean the album section itself is fine, but there should be at least two other sections twice as large for other releases

Daft Punk, Justice and Aphex Twin. That was it for the first 4 years of /mu/.
>>
>>50321702
Has anyone ever revised it?
>>
>>50321702
Then there was this.

>>50321745

You'll hate this one too.

Google mutronica blog, theres all the old charts for dance music when back in the day trying to educate the masses the difference between the genres, but /mu/ was all rockists back then, anything but albums was just not going to happen.
>>
Yes, but I like the neo-soul/funk band Jungle and not the electronic genre.

>>
>>50321898
I've heard a little bit of it and it was decent just really not my thing.

so what's the difference between jungle and drum n bass
>>
>>50322641
>jungle
morphing amens, always sampled with no sequencing. bass line is often completely independent of drum pattern. the chopping is more "sloppy" (i.e. syncopated) due to being done with magnetic tape. Lots of Rave/Hardcore, Reggae, Hip Hop, and Jazz influence.

>drum n bass
an attempt to mimic jungle with digital sequencing. often more looping breaks and a combination of sampled and synthesized sound. bass line almost always derived from drum pattern (digital sequencing, again). Stripped jungle of reggae influence.
Rather than putting delibrate focus on the bass and the breaks, dnb tunes often gave air time to synth textures and such. melody and composition were starting to become something people looked for. Went into darker, more distorted directions.
