Hey /mu/! So me and some people were working on a sleepytime essentials chart last night. I figured we could continue tonight. I was going to wait until later but I'm started to get tired so we might as well take a look now.
Added some more room on the cart, I think 36 is a good number to sit at.
Discuss! What should we add, what should we remove?
>>49707844
Low - I Could Live In Hope
You should be ashamed of yourself! What kind of pleb does not have warm, comfy dreams to Eliane Radigue!
Cattle! Asses!
so none of eno's ambient works are on there yet why?
also mort garson - plantasia
>>49707890
'Cuz nobody suggested it yet. I do agree though, Eno should be on here. What album do you think would be best?
Also, added Plantasia
>>49707865
added
love the idea for this as a chart
Gas - Pop
Windy & Carl - Depths
Kyle Bobby Dunn - The Infinite Sadness
also remove radiohead
>>49707935
add radigue while you're at that
as far as eno goes, discreet music, music for airports, or apollo would probs be best. its your chart,
Here's a chart I made a year back. Infinite Body would make a good sleepytime album
this
>>49708017
seconded
add some steve roach as well
>>49707967
Yeah there was some arguing about that yesterday, imma take it off.
>>49707971
I'll add Music for Airports, if anybody else feels a different one would be better speak up!
>>49707983
Oh shit I totally need to add A Winged Victory. Also, do you feel like Lambent Material would be the best Eluvium album to include here?
Also I think instead of closely tending to this chart I'm just going to let it keep growing. I kind of envisioned it as a place for somebody to go and find something to sleep to, we don't necessarily need the 36 "best" sleeping albums
>>49707844
You cannot listen to Sings Reign Rebuilder while sleeping. You will be pure nightmare.
Here's mine.
This needs to be added. I don't think there's a question about it.

>>49708124
>3 swans albums
this is a terrible plan.
>>49708102
Yeah there was discussion about that last night. How does everybody else feel about it?
>>49708017
Shit man you could fall asleep listening to this and wake up with it still going. Do you know where I could find a dl link? added.
>>49708049
Suggestions?
>>49708124
You're a sick fuck
>>49708168
have you heard of jokes
>>49708168
I find them soothing in a way that's hard to describe.
>>49708186
>trying to be funny
>3014
Nope. Comedy is dead, there are only memes here.
>>49708201
No one gives a shit lad. You'll look back on this once you've grown up and be embarrassed for yourself. Personally I feel sorry for you. At least you've made this mistake anonymously online so it won't have any consequences for you. I just hope realise how dumb this is some day and take it back.
>>49708186
>>49708194
>>49708201
>>49708218
Stop fighting!
Updated the format since this chart is probably going to end up being pretty big.
>>49708186
>>49708201
>>49708218
>>49708245
Guys, I'm being serious here.
>>49708194
>>49708172
>roach
rich and roach - strata
and
roach - structures from silence
Selected Ambient Works Volume II
>>49708172
Seems nobody else is commenting on Sings Reign, but seriously, listen to this shit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sr6YHNTTV68
Needs some jazz. How about Miles Davis - In a Silent Way?
>>49708458
trumpets arent really the best thing for sleep
>>49708458
Maybe something like Kind of Blue or Head Hunters
>>49708345
seconding
>>49708124
I like this.I fall asleep to SFTB all the time
>>49708500
Miles is one of the sleepiest trumpet players though.
>>49708523
those aren't ambient enough
I'd also nominate pic related...and
>>49708345
>>49708528
thirding
>>49708546
this one
How about some Slowdive? I've fallen asleep to Souvlaki and Pygmalion often.
Also I'm so glad Familiars is finally getting some love good job OP
Mac DeMarco really makes me want to sleep. Salad Days the most so I guess. Not kidding or trying to insult Mac.
>>49708562
>>49708528
>>49708345
Added
>>49708414
Yeah I do agree, removed
>>49708587
>>49708581
haha pygmind
ADD THIS
>>49708277
this is fucking good but also definitely sleepable
Here is my list
C'mon.
>>49708699
>black saint
uh...anon
>>49708723
what?
>>49707935
anyone got love for this?
>>49708745
that's a little too lively for sleepytime
>>49708758
THIS
>>49708723
>>49708699
yea how the fuck do you sleep to that
>>49708759
I usually have a very good night's sleep whenever it quietly plays in the background.
>>49708769
If I am tired I can fall asleep to anything. I tend to do a lot of work throughout the day so I fall asleep to all them easily.
>>49708699
deathconsciousness is a little abrasive for sleep tiem
>>49708277
Put Amnesiac on there, and maybe pink moon as well
>>49708277
>>49708790
>good night's sleep
how is you slumber not troubled with mingus' internal mental conflicts and the state of US race relations blaring through your brain
>>49708124
i love falling asleep to campfire songs, such a soothing album
Very relaxing
>>49708277
honestly we should just have everything SOTL related
>>49708882
I am too occupied by my personal internal mental conflicts
>>49708798
I don't know where the hell you're getting Amnesiac, but I would back Pink Moon. I'm kind of opposed to it, because charts like these don't need to be just ANOTHER platform for people to discover /mu/core, but I think it really fits in this one. Although, actually, I would say a similar, better fitting album would be Just Another Diamond Day.
>>49708978
fair enough, sorry about that man. you ever read the black saint liner notes? mingus was an interesting fellow
>>49708723
Of all the fucking albums on that list you pick Black Saint and the Sinner Lady as the one that confuses you
>>49709040
It's alright, what can you do.
I remember the psychologist's notes, pretty interesting. Gotta reread the Mingus writing though.
>>49709067
it's the most obviously confusing
I napped to this last week
drooled everywhere it was awesome
>>49709067
its the strangest choice, especially since it has a ton of alarming moments, and is extremely dramatic
>>49709125
>>49709315
I mean yeah but does that honestly surprise you more than fucking loveless and enemies list
>>49709405
>loveless
doesn't shift around a lot, and I've always thought of it as dreamy anyways
>enemies list
dont see that on the chart
codeine - frigid stars lp
that said, I've fallen asleep to swans on more than one occasion
>>49709405
>Loveless
Works like a blanket. By Loomer I am asleep.
>Enemies List
Never notice anything abrassive except for that one time when the volume spike on No One Is Ever Going To Want Me woke me up from an hour nap but that's no biggie.
Mind that I slept through a couple fire alarms back in my college days. I'm a pretty deep sleeper.
>>49709456
>dont see that on the chart
I'm talking about Deathconsciousness and Giles Corey. I should have been more specific.
Finish this please!
Where is Bon Iver???
What a pleb!!!
>>49709566
oh yea about the same thing for loveless, mostly consistent wall production. its not like shit comes out of nowhere in those. that would scare me. also
>>49708882
>>49708758
I sleep to this almost every single night, has helped me through a lot of rough times
>>49707844
where'd you go OP put all my great suggestions on the chart
Gonzales - Solo Piano
OP here. Sorry for disappearing guys, had some shit to take care of. I'm actually turning in early tonight, feeling very sleepy and weird lately.
Pic is what we got so far. I'll try to post around the same time tomorrow and we'll just keep adding to it until we get sick of seeing it
Good night, friends
>>49711226

>>49711226
Nice. Titles below images is so much more user friendly btw.
>>49711226

>>49711830
ha i'm blind and an idiot

>>49711830
more importantly, why hasn't Arvo Part been posted?!
>>49711903
they were probably aiming for the second one but according 2 u its the first one
>>49711903
the latter
cos the prospect of lying in bed in the dark desperately trying to fall asleep so u dont have to listen to any more helios sounds awful
>>49711935
oh
>>49707844
i always fall sleep listening to Global Communication - 74:16
>>49712188
Do you get sleepy if you hear it at not-sleeping-time?
Great piano and string tunes:
The Tumbled Sea - Melody/Summer
Sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf6EaxodayY
>>49707844
Avec Laudenum is a way better SOTL sleep album than Tired Sounds or Refinement. I have literally never made it through that album awake.
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
Slowdive - Pygmalion
both are gold
>>49707983
Thank you very much for including Below Sea Level. That album gets none of the recognition it deserves
>>49712770
I Second this, but use the album cover in the video. I like that one more
>>49711907
hey bru can you hook me up with a link to this?
Whitetree - Cloudland
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgJJu48CFEA
sleep music has to be beatless for me
so drone or anything like this is perfect
