I feel like it's been awhile since there was a mu essentials chart, anybody up for making an essential sleepytime list?
Pic-related.

And now for the actual post.
Is there an essential post-metal chart?
>>49684133
Not an official /mu/ sponsored one I don't think. You can go ahead and start your own thread for it though! But only if Wake/Lift is on it because
EUROPAAAAAAA
>>49684094
That and Refinement of the Decline.
How do you guys feel about This Will Destroy You's self-titled? I know it's pretty generic crescendocore but I"ve had some GOAT-tier naps to it before.,
>>49684076
please do OP

self exclamatory
>>49684286

And either way, you're wrong.
Gonna include some recording of this, it has to be in there

Also, there should definitely be an Eluvium album but I don't know which one. Any suggestions?
>>49684286
tkol seems more like a sleepy album
>>49684286
Best Radiohead album, but I wouldn't call it sleepy. Maybe a couple songs, but not the whole thing.
>>49684286
>>49684300
>>49684296
Yeah I don't see myself falling asleep to 15 Step. It would be some weird fucking dreams for sure
This one is too obvious
One of my favorite sleepytime albums, just listen to this.

?
>>49684326
I've fallen asleep to it many times recently, it's not for everyone but it's a nobrainer for me.
>>49684380
Hell yeah man. Heh actually, got a DL link for that?
Also OP here, and I'm running out of stuff from my library to suggest. Throw more things at me guys!
>>49684389
I'm on the fence. This one can get a bit weird at times. I've actually been sleeping to Born Into Trouble lately, how do you guys feel about that one?
>>49684429
here you go my mans

>>49684497
Good point, added.
>>49684427

Maybe?

Yep, have this album in a playlist I fall asleep to regularly
Nominating this album, very lush blissful ambient
My favorite album to sleep to.
??????? - ??????
Don't know the english name.
the boats are the ultimate in sleep assistance, they need to be on this chart
>>49684556
yeah I second this
this is objectively the best sleepytime album
>>49684094
Whenever I fall asleep listening to that I get really vivid dreams
>>49684614
i think you meant to post this, friend
>>49684562
>>49684570
>>49684576
>>49684579
Yes, added
>>49684586
I'm gonna need samples before I go throwing some heiroglyphics on the chart
>>49684596
>>49684614
Great recs, added.
Should we be more picky about what we add or should this be an essentials chart that just keeps on growing? I vote for the latter, personally
>>49684635
I second this
>>49684635
>>49684688
Sorry for my ignorance, but what album is this? Google image search shows nothing
>>49684706
Tarantel- From Bone to Satellite

It's nowhere near popular enough to be on an "essentials" chart, but do whatever you want.
>>49684715
I feel like Lift Your Skinny Fists might be the better choice sleepytime wise
>>49684715
2dark4sleep
>>49684681
I think if you had an essentials chart for this that never ended you would just have a big list of ambient albums, which isn't a bad thing, but once you reach a certain point you should probably refine it. I donno, tho, it's up to you
Do you think it's possible that an album can make you lucid dream? I've never had a lucid dream before but have had vivid dream when I fall asleep listening to music.
>>49684742
True. I think I'll go the refinement route.
I'm most on the fence about Radiohead (too much energy), Set Fire to Flames (lots of weird non-musical stuff), and Silver Mt. Zion (weird and sometimes not too easy to listen to)
When I think of sleepytime music I think of stuff that's just really nice to listen to while you're nodding off. Nothing that will make you think too much
>>49684780
Lucid dreaming is a really complicated thing and I don't think an album alone would make you lucid dream. It's possible it might play a part in triggering whatever it is that needs to get triggered to lucid dream though.
>>49684742
I think what I'll do is this. We'll fill up the chart I have now, and sometime tomorrow I'll post and people can discuss what to remove/add
>>49684792
set fire to flames doesn't involve much thinking, its so easy to fall asleep to because you just let yourself get absorbed into the atmosphere.
And
>non musical
>>49684738
>>49684734
>implying it's dark ambient tone won't make you sleep like a baby
I know it has for me
>>49684635
>>49684688
I third this
>>49684829
Oh shit I was going to think about adding Hurtbreak Wonderland but I like this even more.
>>49684848
thats why I suggested
>>49684614
it's dark and ambient without being straight up depressing like f#a#
>no SleepResearch_Facility
>>49684850
Added
>>49684792
Helios - Eingya
Chromatics - Kill For Love
Yo La Tengo - And Then Nothing Turndaisdoa;fj;df
>>49684877
Deep Frieze, maybe
>>49684877
my nigga. That's my least favourite album from him though.
>>49684890
Added Helios
This list needs more Loscil
>>49684906
>>49684912
I guess Deep Frieze might be suited for more pleasant dreams. I slept pretty well to Stealth though
ultimate sleepy
>>49684940
Added!
And with that, I, OP, am going to sleep. Will probably listen to The Boats because damn I like this a lot.
I'll post again tomorrow, probably a little earlier than I did tonight (maybe midnight CST) and we can discuss what to keep/add/remove.
Night mu, sweet dreams!
>>49684792
I almost always fall asleep to Music Has the Right to Children. Idk if others will agree tho because drums.
>>49684966
Also one last thing, I'll probably add more space tomorrow. 25 seems a bit small for something as blanket as "music that's nice to sleep to. But, that's more stuff to discuss tomorrow
>>49684966
goodnight
>>49684966
Saved. Not a fan of the new Antlers but I can see why it's on the list.
>>49684728
this is wonderful
This.
Honestly, id sleep with Block too, but i dont think this will suit everyone.
HAS THA LIGH GAN OUT FOR YOU?
COS THA LIGHS GAN OUT FOR ME
zzz
>>49684966
What the fuck, why is Somnium missing? It's actually the most obvious choice
no Steve Roach on there, that really ruffles my petticoat.

Tunnel Blanket is a lot better and a lot more sleepytime-core
