This is a thread for discussing old grime, classic grime and 'new grime' or 'grime revivalism'.
>wot u call it
Getting this started with this. wot do u call it? is this really grime?
Oh right, well he said when he was on Radio 1 that is the direction he wants to take grime, I had no idea this is what the beatless shit is meant to sound like.
does he play stuff like this out?
I got to see him at the start of this year and he actually does play this type of grime out. It's a bit weird though like the crowd doesn't really know what to do. Not sure if you should dance or not haha.
That's awesome that you Irish guys are getting all the yard tracks. Never thought it would have picked up steam over there!
...also has /toug/ stopped being a thing?
don't think for second i'd hesitate to tear your fucking limbs off, moist maggot, ask anyone around my ends and they'll tell you i'm a fucking skengman. blade in my jeans the size of your arm you absolute waste. one more word and i'll fiya leng
pic is of me defending road
Sweet! I'll add you later on when I get back. Lots of hardcore here, I'm feeling it.
why not just make a bleep thread and talk about grime
forget those fucking retard 'intellectuals' who think they can pick and choose which genres of dance music are 'allowed' to be discussed in those threads
bludcarts trying to bang on me, cuz! they dun kno.
Truth! I only got into hardcore recently, been listening to Needles almost nonstop.
All solid, that Gorgon Grime tape Kahn and Neek put out is absolutely essential. Was lucky enough to get a gold copy
because we dont need bleep anymore.
get the fuck over it.
did you see the amount of shitposting anti-grime there was?
we dont need that shit.
stop being autistic and let there be two threads about dance music on /mu/
Ok, so i've listened to more of this so called "grime" that people are raving about here.
Listened to a few mixes, but imo a lot of this new stuff is pretty average and uninspiring and calling some of it grime is questionable.
In mixes like Facta's Hyp mix, and Visionist's fact mix, there are a lot of really forgettable tunes that just plod along and sound like album fillers or something. Also the production quality is pretty basic, and not basic in a raw way like old grime.
It just sounds like a new step in all this "bass music" shit: moving on from trying to remake 2 step, people are just including recognisable grime samples and detuned square wave synths etc. to give off this grime aesthetic but it's not really well done, and some of it is as if they're trying way too hard to be experimental like mumdance.
If it's so good, what are some actual good mixes that are grime and not some fairy shit. Seems like people here are grasping for straws and latching onto something they think is fresh, new and part of a scene when it's pretty uninspiring to me
I'm a big fan of grime, and if there was sick well produced stuff like this combining grime and house like people were pushing a few years ago i would be happy -
whatever you say, grime is more punk than most people realise. DIY sensibilities, tightly knit area scenes, aggression from people who otherwise wouldn't have much of a voice and the idea that you don't need to be a musician to make music
they're insane! i could only find their music on soulseek though.
has anyone picked this up?
>implying anyone above the age of 20 listen to chav music
what makes it essential? taking clips from classic sets and tapes, mixing them together and selling them back as your own work with a bit of shit reverb and effects on top? don't chat shit mate. it's fucking disgusting, it's theft and it was done in the worst possible way with zero care for the original pieces. they manage to take really raw and hype moments and totally kill them. go listen to grimetapes wheel volume 1 & 2 instead young boy.
i don't think it went down like that. those 2 guys are obviously big, big into grime and have got a lot of nostalgia about the pirate radio days. so, they took some of their favourite clips and put it together as a tribute to the old school grime sound. the fact that only 130 copies were released suggests that they're not in it for the money, they just wanted to put out a little project based on their love for grime music and i don't see what's wrong with that
The problem is that Slackk did the same thing better and for free 5 years ago with the Grimetapes Presents series
Try the Astral Plane and Liminal Sounds mix series. Also, any recent mix by Spooky, Riz La Teef, or Inkke
any1 got a link 4 this?
you must be searching with stupid tags dude, i just this second finished downloading it because it looked decent
Huh, cool, was always thinking /grime/ would be a pretty good idea, any way.
saw him at lattiude 2 weeks ago, when he dropped pulse x, oh my daze.
lol wtf is wrong with my soulseek. this still isn't coming up. i've searched literally everything in this pic before and just now and it still won't pick anything up. is it possible i have some sitting setting on or sth?
maybe, are you getting other stuff show up too or nothing at all? if you get nothing your port for slsk might be closed or something
i just searched "classics destruction" and had a bunch of them
v/a - The Classics: Destruction Volume One
>Grime, UK hip-hop, garage
Cannot stop listening to Straight vocals.
Macabre Unit are huge.
(MUDCOMP001) Macabre Unit - Education LP
This is going to be the best Grime release out this year but it's a bit unfair since it's all old school shit.
[insert gunshots and rewinds here]
Crazy Titch - 2010 - Crazy Times Vol. 2
I wonder if Crazy Titch would have been GOAT if he didn't end up getting imprisoned but then maybe he'd have gone the same way Wiley/Dizzee/Kano went.
Still haven't listened to the new Trim mixtape, bastly prefer his olders stuff in general to his new things.
No that was Maniac: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1233207/Pregnant-teen-thrown-canal-rappers-plotted-murder-internet-chatroom.html
Crazy Titch shot/was involved with the murder of some guy because of a diss tune or something to that effect.
Shame maniac was such a horrible cunt
he was hands down one of the best producers and would have probably put out some really sick stuff in the past few years if he hadn't been locked up.
There's this: http://pastebin.com/cjLMQFZR
These changes have been suggested.
What needs adding/removing. Some opinions so far:
>I would add JME - Famous? and Kano -Home sweet home and Devlin - Tales for the Crypt to it. For instrumentals grime 2.0. And for 12": Kamikaze - Ghetto kyote, Rebound X – Land Of X, Darq E Freaker - Cherryade and VA - Quadrant EP, Duppy and next hype
They also recommended leaving Street Crime UK off
>add some sublow black ops
Don't know shit about sublow other than Jon E Cash myself.
>Ghetto Kyote amd Rebound x are no brainers, not sure about tales of the crypt
p jam - real
alias - gladiator/fight club
j sweet - gutter alias remix
iron soul - heavens reject ep
imp batch - gype riddim/crazy titch - singalong
ruff sqwad - xtra
dj dred d - invasion
jon e cash - spanish fly
bionics - electro (live on air when crazy titch and dizzee kicked off)
dj target - poltergeist
grime street - fruity loops workshop
And whatever other suggestions people have.
Do you think you'd piss your pants if this guy started giving you shit?
at least he put the paki taxi driver in his place, they're well known for trying to skank people over for a few quid.

To be fair every other guy who I went to school was like that so I probably wouldn't be worried until he actually started pulling knives or swinging. Most of them just talked shit but some were legit mental.
>1. DJ Maximum & Wiley - Rinse FM 10/12/2006
This set is well worth being number one, so funny, wiley running his mouth on everyone.
and then gets rushed off the mic at the end
You mean the compilations that come out? I haven't followed any LOTM in ages and the Big H vs. P Money fiasco didn't really help things.
At least we got these out of it:
This is the closest we'll get to seeing how that clash was going to play out:
I don't rate P Money but I think he would have won. His bars went in harder and I reckon they would have caused more hype. I've thought H had many good bars at all, just one or two that were deemed so good that every MC ripped off his flow for a while. Even in Meridian/Bloodline I think Prez T and Bossman are better MCs.
