Cool layering with the synth.
The vocal during the rapping part could be louder in the mix. A bit too cheesy for my taste.
>>47807088
Digging the energy and the industrial vibe of it a lot.
The vocal could be more louder in the mix and have a stronger presence in the track over all. More in your face, you know?
Pretty cool track over all.

Interesting, but "Smokes" is a bit repetitive for my tastes.

>>47807186
All Night Long-Chill track. Great for the summer. I would actually play this in front of your friend if I were you.
The female vocal sounds nice. It was super effective the first time that sample came up. I'm glad you had a variation on the sample around 4:00 in so kudos for that. The piano-ish sound is a bit too midi-y, so I would polish that sound a bit more. Cool track overall.
>>47807197
>harsh feedback
All right man.
The church organ is a bit too cliche for me in a dance music setting. And the synth sound that comes up around :32 is too preset-like. The bass sound around 1:00 is a bit too amateurish. It could have a longer sustain and release (could be lower in frequency too). More groovy line would do this track justice too.
The synth sound around 2:00 was actually cool. Reminded me of Tycho.
The song gets better after 2:00. Yeah, and the sound in 3:00 is cool.
Mmm, there isn't much that will make me come back and listen to this track again. More stronger groove, texture, and memorable melody are still needed.
Wasn't that bad though actually. I would've been more harsh if it were bad.
>>47807214
I already listened to your stuff before.
>>47807235
Man, the transition between the samples aren't smooth enough (especially in the first two). I'm into plunderphonic stuff and listen to lot of experimental pieces, but this one isn't doing it for me. Some of the samples are cool, but there isn't too many that are interesting. It doesn't even feel too random for me. If you were going for something in which each samples are connected in some way, I did not feel that. I would start layering these various samples together and go from there.
>>47807088
Sounds like a shitty death grips rip off.
Not saying that to use a shitty "haha death grips" joke or anything, but it is clear what influence you had going in.
Vocals are too quite, lyricism is hilariously bad in a bad way.
Try again much harder.

>>47807534
Smokes-This is cool. The sample is a bit too muffled. I would eq that or get a cleaner sample. The bass is nice & low, and it comes at a good timing. Yeah, it IS pretty repetitive, but it's a short song too at the same time. I can actually see this developed into something... More change in dynamic and having more of a structure.
>>47807630
The left side is way too heavy even when the right side comes up.
I'm all right with having just one side playing, but it was a bit too heavy; I was starting feel uncomfortable (maybe that was what you were going for??).
Man, this shit is chaotic and nasty. I like it a lot actually. It's unpredictable but still feels like everything is flowing. Nice work man. It's a preview, so I can't say much more.
The mixing could use some work definitely though.

Hey everyone, I don't usually post too much on this board, but I'd like to get a friend and I's little project some listeners.
Our "band", if you want to call it that, is named Periapsis. We mainly focus on writing jazzy music (See Earthshine for a good representation), but we play around with other ideas as well.
If you care to listen, I suggest listening to "Earthshine" to get a good feel as to what our sound will mainly focus around.
The song "When Wounds (Eventually) Heal" was a little joke song we did to "remake" an earlier song.
Anyway, I'll post the page link here, and proceed to check out some of your soundclouds as well/ post what I think.
Thanks in advance for listening.

>bit of both types of feedback
Of course.
Beautiful intro. The individual note picking after the intro feels a bit too mechanical for me. Maybe using a finger might work (or a lighter pick)... The arpeggio after 1:00 sounds fine though.
Even though it's minimal, it's very atmospheric and beautiful. Nice work. I like this. Man, I would be interested in how it would develop. I listened to the next a little bit, and it also made me visual colors. Purple specifically...
>>47807711
Thanks for the feedback, man.
The songs are pretty short, so I will do a several...
A Special Message-Cool intro.
"Chelsea Girls"-The "seven" could've been executed a bit better. You should get some pop-filter too. The lo-fi vibe is pretty cool.
Sudden Fog-Cool minimal approach. I'm really liking that creepy sound that comes in later. I like your experimental approach better.
>>47807696
THE fucking INTRO-I like the intro. The glockenspiel was a nice touch.
The Burial sample could've came suddenly. I didn't like it coming in slowly and quietly.
Nice atmospheric track.

It's So Easy... -I'm liking the abrasive and rough production. The vocal is way too quiet in the mix. I want some more flow.
This is alright...
>>47807895
This is cool. Nice mixing/production. The vocal is killer, guys. Good flow and professional sounding.
There are sounds that are a bit too "sizzly" though, so I would mess with the eq on those sounds.
Nice work guys.
>>47807998
Welcome to /mu/.
Earthshine-Very clean and crisp guitar sounds guys. A bit too dry on the rhythm guitar, so I would add a bit more reverb. Reminded me of Toe a bit.
The reverb automation was a fucking nice touch. Man, I would love some bass guitar on this. Hell, I love to add some.
The absence of bass is my main concern. Other than that, this is solid.
Keep it going guys. Nice work.
>>47808251
Earthshine dude here.
The ironic thing is, we actually did have bass guitar in there. Usually we use a bass vst, but this was the first time we actually recorded an actual bass for it. I'm working on putting lyrics to the song, so probably when it gets a final release I'll boost the bass guitar some more to bring it out.
Thanks a lot for listening man.

Coming right up. (nothing personal)
Saigon-The beat sounds pretty generic and cliche; nothing new and interesting. Do something interesting with the hi-hat especially. The girl vocal sample didn't do too much to the track either. t would polish the bass sound too. Sounds too fart like.
It's not terrible or anything, but I wanted something unique.
>>47808187
I think you could've used a better rain+thunder sample. I do like the idea though. The atmospheric synth sound fits with it too. The minimal beat gives it a rainy feel too.
The percussion is a bit too dry for a track like this, so add some reverb, man.

All right, you asked for it. (again, nothing personal. just want you to become better)
I would first fix that font on the photo. Looks very amateurish in comparison to the photo.
Simple Math-This sounds a bit too much like Beck's "Golden Age." So I would like something more unique and original.
It sounds a bit too mono-y for me. I want more layering. The "ooh" part could be layered and panned.
The guitar solo is not really good, I'm sorry. There are too many off-key notes in there. Sounds a bit too dry too, and the performance is not good either.
(harsh mode, done)

W&W-The "hey" could sound much bigger.
The kick could be longer and heavier. It's a pretty cheesy song over all. Not really my style of music.
>>47808538
Crisp production. The main synth sounds pretty cool too.
The 1:00 is rad. The vocal sample is used nicely. I'm digging the glitchy technique. Nice work.
I think a heavier kick after the drop might be cool to try out.

Nice work.
As for the music...
Not really that experimental, but that doesn't mean I didn't like it. This is actually pretty great. Nice work. The auto panning was a nice touch. Good production/mix. The track doesn't get repetitive since there are lot of things going on so kudos for that.
I wouldn't use that Aphex Twin sample in there if I were you; a bit too cheesy.
>>47808617
The music was a bit too repetitive and didn't seem to go anywhere. Even a subtle variations or addition could have made this track come to life.
>>47808638

Good job doing some variation on the sample too.

>>47808962
The guitar was a nice touch.
I wasn't too much of a fan of the synth bass sound.
>>47809026
I would change the profile pic man.
The vocal could really be louder in the mix. I wasn't too fond of the whiny vocal to be honest. Mmm, can't really say anything nice about this.
I would try something else.
Don't give up though!
>>47809134

The cymbal count-in is a bit cliched, so I wouldn't do that if I were you.
It sounds a bit too over-compressed. The waveform looks like a brick wall too.
The vocal could be layered in some parts. Like around :30.
I would like some solos in there too. I think that will make this track interesting. Or a short section with just a bass line. I guess I want some more variation on the dynamic.

Pretty interesting track. Very spacey.
I think some more ideas could be introduced later on in the track to make it more interesting.

Harsh it is then.
First off, add https:// on your link; it saves me some time. You'll get a better chance of people checking your stuff that way too.
New Song- The singing is rather annoying to be honest, but that's just my taste. The vocal is not recorded well either.
Get a better equipment, and rethink about your vocal style. There are lot of people who does that sort of vocal style anyway so try something new.
>>47823924
The drum is a bit too thin. The track sounds thin overall too.
I would add some reverb since the instruments sound too dry. The bass is usually panned right in the center, so I would try that out next time.
There isn't too much going in the right channel, so I would add some sounds.
>>47823900
Circle-Nice playing. The piano was very nice touch too.
I suggest trying out some stereo recording on the acoustic guitar. Some xy technique might make it sound full.
1:08 is fantastic. Nice work.
It's really well mixed there. The vocal layering after the climax is executed well too. The vocal sometimes sound a bit lazy-like, so I would like a little more "oomph" if that makes sense. The vocal is good overall tho.
Fuck, it's about time I hear something good on this thread.

Thanks for that! Like actually, most people don't give that good of feedback on sc...
The vocals probably aren't gonna change much though. I'm doing them, and idk else how to do them. I think they work for the music. My vocal ability isn't really the focus haha.
Who else sounds like me though? Not cause I don't believe you, but cause it's hard for to me to look at my own voice. I think I sound uniquely whiny and annoying honestly haha

I do joke mashups mostly. I have some sloppy stuff and some absolute purposeful ear rape.
>>47825324
I'm digging the fast beat. The bass could be played a little bit better. There is no groove (it's not rhythmic enough). The guitar is pretty rad. Sounds a bit dry so I would add some reverb.

Haha, nice.
The vocal could've been harsh. Distorted hell or heavy on chorus effect (kinda like what Current 93 did in one of the song). The drone sound could be much louder.
Definitely an interesting concept, and it's grotesque (which I always dig in music). Keep doing interesting and unique things.
>>47831555
Interesting rapping style. At first I was into the vocal style, but I started to dig it. I like the change in dynamic and emotion on the vocal too.
The guitar section around :56 was a nice touch.
The second movement is rad. The vocal has more flow, so I dig it.
I also liked the third movement (?) where the mood changes up to something dark and abrasive.
The transition to the last movement could've been a little more dramatic and smooth.
Dude, keep it up man. You're doing something unique and rad.
>>47836246

Pretty generic House beat. It's not anything I haven't heard before. Needs a much stronger intro too.

The synth sound around 1:00 was cool, and the melody made this interesting and memorable.
It's just needed a more compelling intro because the track got better as it went on.

"Men of the Veins"-Really cool piece. Whenever a new instrument is introduced, I kind of want it to stick around a bit longer. With that being said, this is rad. I like it.
I like the second movement better.
The transition could be smoother overall within each movement. Maybe there could be some transition between each movement too.
Nice work overall man. Good work.
>>47846125
You're far too kind. Thank you.
>>47846794
Thanks for the feedback! I was thinking of adding transitions between each movement, but then I thought that each movement would be an individual cue, so between each movement there would be dialogue or other shots with no music. However, I do agree that I need to extend the length of each movement though, maybe add more changes of tempo/dynamics within each cue and add a little more repetition so it doesn't end too quickly. Thanks again for the feedback, mate.

Not enough low end. Maybe I need a woofer for this? Either way, I would love some bass line for this.
I really hate you for using that "Damn son" sample. Please don't do that again.
Yeah, not enough low end for me.
>>47849563
No problem man.

Either you got an army of people supporting you or the thread or the mods are fucking nuts today. every other sc threads are fucking disappearing. the fuck
To be honest, I'm pretty dreadful at producing music, I just enjoy composing things. Sounds like shit, is loud, over compressed... I don't really know what I'm doing. Had fun making it though. Would really appreciate some feedback more on the actual composition rather than the production.. Thank you!

because dumb fucks dont check the catalog and make like 10 damn soundcloud threads.
Im glad mods are just keeping one thread alive and deleting all the rest.
bump. i like how nobody posts on a sc thread with more than 30 posts or so.
just finished this one, i'll be on the feedback grind for a bit

chill with the bitcrusher.
Shits such a cheesy effect.

Thanks man, I'll bare that in mind.

Be confident when you post man. People usually don't check it out when you say it's shit. I'm only checking it out since I'm OP and keeping my word...
Anyway, it's not THAT bad actually.
The song is way too compressed though. Listeners are capable of turning up the volume, so don't over compress.
I would also spend a little bit more time mixing.
There needs to be a stronger ending too. Also, more change in dynamic or a mood could keep the song interesting.
Too much bit crushing also.
>>47851108
Interesting choice with the percussion sounds.
Yeah, this composition is interesting too. The various sounds are working together nicely to create a rad texture.
I wasn't too fond of the sample though. I think you could've used something less cheesy.
I could definitely see some electric bas guitar in this (I know I keep saying that for lot of feedback, but I just want a tasty bassline).
>>47851083
Yeah, I'm glad too. Although, I love posting image when I share my link, so it kinda sucks in that aspect. Oh well.
>>47851067
I actually kind of like this one. I imagine with live instruments, studio production and a killer vocalist it could be a good epic rock song. Am I correctly sensing some post-hardcore tendencies?

appreciate the feedback. i havent made much house music so i wasnt sure on the bass

An acousticy / guitar type track I made for a game's western-themed level. Would appreciate feedback for it as its heaps different to my normal EDM / Electro style I usually produce. Also, what genre would it fall under? As I have no idea!
Thanks! :)

Cheers man, yeah as I said, not really much clue on the production side of things, but I'll definitely bring it down a bit. It's a work in progress, had a bit of a breakdown (muh metalcore) in mind for the next section then bring it back round to the idea the song begins with - needs an intro too. But yeah, thanks for the feedback.
>>47851379
Yeah, I don't really spend much time on the production side of things because I figure you can only make something sound so good with fake guitars and whatnot, so I spend more time on the actual composition etc. And yeah, I'm only just growing out of my 'muh metal' phase so I still have some.. questionable influences haha. Thanks for the feedback!
Ok, last set of feedback for a while. I gonna go out and drink and eat. I'll be back though. If I'm pretty drunk, my harsh feedback will be relentless so be careful what you wish for...
>>47851622
No problem.
>>47851352
Needs a better kick sound in my opinion.
The synth melody is pretty cool.
The transition right before the drop was a bit too long.
And the drop itself wasn't that big either. Needed some heavy kick or something. Also, you need something in the high register.
I guess more spectral balance after the drop to have a BIG sound.
>>47851552
This is pretty good actually. I wanted something stronger in the melody though.
Need some bass line to make the track full too.
The track gets really cool around 2:00, so I think you could shorten the parts until that section. Or you can start the track with that section.
Good track overall though. Good job.
>>47851612
Finally, some bass line.
The percussion should be louder in the mix.
I could definitely use some electric guitar for a melody, man. I think it'll make this track even better.
Whenever you slide up to a note (or glide) on the bass, you should use a pitch bend.
Cool track overall. Chill...

Bro, no need to feel shame about what you're into. People do that around here because they don't enjoy listening to music nearly as much as they enjoy putting down "inferior" music. Keep on metalcorin'

It's an euphoric EDM / House track

Hey OP amazing job you did here!
Here's a mix I posted today, it's what I call msncore... and it's even more enjoyable drunk.

OP here. I'm back. I had 3-4 bottles of beer, but I'm not really drunk at all. Oh well... Maybe a little tipsy? Idk
>>47852151
I already listened to your stuff, I think.
>>47852199
Very minimal and atmospheric...
Pretty bizarre rhythm and percussion. Could use some more in the low end.
The vocal is mesmerizing.
I dig this. This is unique.
>>47852795
>euphoric
Don't use that buzzword around here, man.
Crisp production.
Yeah, I agree with the other guy about having some pumping kick.
>>47853753
I'm not really drunk, so let's see if I enjoy this sort of tipsy.
Damn, that intro startled me for a second, and I haven't used MSN for ages. Fuck.
Man, this track is full of nostalgia.
Can't really give too much criticism since there isn't too much done to the tracks you sampled so...
>>47854010
Too much compression, man.
Pretty chill. Good for Friday night.
>>47847936
Lol I was just joking around since I thought the thread was gonna end soon, honestly didn't think you'd respond.
I'm glad you did though, thanks. I'll take those all into consideration. Along with >>47847925, the problem for the most part is that I mix with headphones, so it's difficult to mix things well. I'm mostly just experimenting and learning until I finish my engineering degree next year and move to a new house that has a space (like a walk-in closet or something) I can totally soundproof and not bother the rest of my family with loud music.
Droplets is probably a better example of my current mixing abilities (even with headphones), though. Sometimes I like it to not be super clean though, it's all just sound.
tl;dr thanks OP, really happy to see a soundcloud thread like this and someone who keeps their word for giving feedback. I hope to see more like this in the future, it was really refreshing and I'll try to help out when I can (including this weekend).
Thanks for the feedback :) But keep in mind that its my first track I've ever done seriously.
>>47854668
Good luck with your engineering degree, man. Much respect for that.
Mixing with headphones are good habit to have though. Mixing with both headphones and monitors are always good of course. You would be surprised with how many mix with shitty speakers.
And I'm just trying the best I can. SC threads really dropped in quality lately. People are getting too selfish.
>>47854825
No problem. Good luck!
Hey, I worked on the track some more. What do you think?
