Hello and welcome to my first monthly sharethread!
Basically from now on at the first of every month I'm going to make a sharethread and share with you guys one album for every day of the current month.
Since we're celebrating the 1st of June, I have 31 juicy shares for you guys.
I tried to include something for everyone in this so stick around until something catches your interest.
Feel free to contribute as well if you feel so inclined.
The Normals - 1978 Recordings (2006)
First wave punk-rock band from Jefferson Louisiana. This is a compilation of their early tracks and most of their discography. Really raw and lo-fi sound.
The Cat's Miaow - Songs For Girls To Sing (1997)

Lo-fi indie pop from Melbourne Australia. Very atmospheric and warm. Female vocals.
my other one got banned because this guy has been impersonating me all week while I was banned so I got ban evasion for it. it's bullshit. I'll probably be posting with various trips from now until the ban on my old trip expires. If it ever does that is. You'll know when it's me though.
Jokke og Valentinerne - Et hundeliv (1987)
These guys are basically Norwegian rock and roll legends. Really feel good stuff.
The Dovers - We're Not Just Anybody (2001)

A collection of singles by the Santa Barbara, California group, The Dovers. These guys were active in the mid 60's and were fronted by probably the most heartbroken garage rocker there ever was. Seriously these tracks are very feelsy.
The Lewd - Kill Yourself...Again (1998)
A compilation of tracks The Lewd, a west coast punk band active throughout 1978-1982. Very underrated group I dunno how these guys flew under the radar.
Debils - s/t (1981)
Punk-rock group from Switzerland. They're really good but barely anyone knows about them.
Daisuck & Prostitute - ?????????? (1981)
Experimental Japanese post-punk. There's not much that I can say about this except that it's fucking mental. Like Japanese James Chance with maybe even more cocaine.
Fats Domino - This Is Fats (1958)
>Rhythm & Blues, New Orleans Rock & Roll
If you are a fan of New Orleans Rhythm and Blues, Fats Domino is required listening. It’s something like a hybrid between traditional rhythm & blues to rock & roll, and the result isn’t totally displeasing like the how fusing two genres usually turns out to be. In fact, it's pretty excellent. Fats could sing and he could play, and he shows off both of those talents, but it's the fun factor that makes this album what it is. It's loose, it swings, it's a little bit silly at times, and it sounds like Fat had a smile on his face right through. What more can ya ask for?
Golden Rain - Gong Kebyar Of Gunung Sari, Bali (1995)

Very soothing sounds of a somewhat underappreciated instrument. Check it out.
Yuji Ohno - Cosmos (1981)
Very spacey Japanese jazz. Really cutesy, sounds like something an anime girl would walk down the street to. There's a lot of shitty rips of this out there so don't download it off of rutracker or slsk. Download this one ^_^
Tres - Smile On My Face / Operator (1985)
Swedish synth-pop single. Really great tune.
I assume so. It didn't give me an expiration date for it.
Salaryman - s/t (1996)
Really interesting post-rock album. Swelling guitars and rich instrumentation.
Effe - visible / invisible (2014)
Japanese electro-pop with female vocals in parts. Really dancey.

VA - Coal Heart For Ever (1988)

Compilation of minimal synth and industrial tunes from bands such as Pseudo Code, Kaa Antilope, and Waving Ondulata. Great stuff.
Hal Hutchinson - Taste Of Iron (2010)
>noise, field recording
The title serves as a pretty good description. No effects, no pedals, no editing tools, this is just raw sounds of metal with various microphones and natural decay/distortion of recording device.
Devon Hendryx - The Rockwood Escape Plan (2012)
>hip-hop, cloud rap
Really underground hip-hop mixtape. Amazing sampling and production. How this guy hasn't blown up is beyond me.
Bastard Noise / Chaos As Shelter / Igor Krutogolov - The Geometry Of Soul (2003)

Negativland - Helter Stupid (1989)

A really interesting and often times humorous album featuring snippets of TV and radio shows. The album is centered around David Brom's quadruple axe murder of his family and the allegations the band faced when rumors spread that their track "Christianity Is Stupid" could have started the feud.
Lamia Vox - ... Introductio (2010)
Really dark spacey ambient with lots of layers of sound.
Dale Hawkins - Oh! Suzy-Q (1958)

A true legend in his own way, the Louisiana born & bred Dale Hawkins came to this world to teach some lessons 'about simple and excellent rock. Here we have one of the greats of the genre, with some really rough, dirty guitar licks and intense drumming.

Japanese math rock with a really impressive guitar work and female vocals.
Graham Lambkin & Jason Lescalleet - Air Supply (2010)

Two of the most prominent artists in modern experimental electronic and electroacoustic music working together to produce this great set of tracks. The duo is most well known for their 2008 release "Breadwinner" but I like this album more.
VA - Purple Snow: Forecasting the Minneapolis Sound (2013)
>soul, synth funk, disco
A really great overlooked compilation that came out last year. Released by the Numero Group, it really dives into the twin cities synth funk scene of the 80's and contains some killer tracks.
Nazz - s/t (1968)
>garage rock, psych rock
Insanely good psych rock from Philadelphia. It was Todd Rundgren's band before he went solo.
Liaisons Dangereuses - s/t (1981)
>EMB, synth punk, minim al synth
These guys were basically a german minimal synth supergroup consisting of Einsturzende Neubauten and D.A.F. Really neat stuff.
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmo's Factory (1970)
>Swamp Rock, Country, Blues
One of the great American bands of the 60's reached a glorious peak at the dawn of the 70's as CCR put it all together for Cosmos Factory. From the electrifying guitar workout on opener Ramble Tamble to the elegiac album closer Long As I Can See the Light, Cosmo's Factory is an excellent summation of all that was the best about Creedence Clearwater Revival. You've got a gorgeous soul cover in the form of an epic version of I Heard It On The Grapevine, a celebration of psychedelic daydreaming in Looking Out My Back Door, and plenty of other Creedence classics.
Ceramic Hello - The Absence Of a Canary (1980)
Nice minimal wave album from Burlington, ON, Canada.
Led Er Est - Dust On Common (2009)

70's synth prog and 80's lo-fi electronic inspired synthpop.
Rene Hell - The Terminal Symphony (2011)
Neat electronic stuff. Really glitchy and atmospheric with interesting sounds spread throughout. He did a split with Oneohtrix once.
Raccoo-oo-oon - Is Night People
>psychedelic rock, noise rock
Really cool rock album from a really cool band from Iowa. It kinda has a krautrock sound to it even though it's obviously not krautrock.
The Flamingos - Flamingo Serenade (1959)
>Doo-Wop, R&B, shabob shabob-core
The greatest doo wop album of all times, not that there's a ton of doo wop albums out or anything. The use of reverb and the languid pace make it seem so grandiose and (here's a buzzword) ethereal, just wondrous. This also has I Only Have Eyes for You, which does some bizarre-ass things to the time-space continuum.
Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You (1998)
Probably one of the best singles of all time and perhaps the pinnacle of french house music. This is the Roulé release so it includes the radio edit and 12" club mix.
The Blackfoot – The Footsteps
Another 70s Zambia rock group, the Blackfoot band was the flagship band for Ndola Music Parlour when live band music took the country by the storm. This doesn’t have as much fuzz guitar as the Ngozi Family or as much prog stylings as Witch, but it is solid & definitely Zamrock. This record has some traces of traditional Zambian drumming & guitar work, but comes off like an Afropop Creedence.
James Brown - Motherlode (1988)
Great compilation from the funk legend himself. Lots of underrated Brown tracks on this.
Ai Aso - Lone (2014)

Soothing Japanese dream pop with great female vocals.
? and the Mysterians - 96 Tears (1966)
>garage rock, psych rock
Pretty cool garage rock band from Bay City, Michigan. The title track is by far the best on the album.
Sir Lord Baltimore - Kingdom Come (1970)
>heavy psych, proto-metal
Debut album. Very raw-sounding and lots of distortion. One of the first bands to be described as heavy metal.

Container - LP (2011)
Harsh, blown-out, yet highly listenable techno. Pulsing, red-lined drums; alarm-like screeches; distorted, amelodic basslines; short, warped, mantra-like samples. An absolutely killer take on the minimal techno template filtered through the harsh junk aesthetics of full on noise. Stripped down raw to the bone, this album pulsates with an industrial life all of its own. LP is the soundtrack to one of the most abrasive dance parties you've ever been to. Incessant sound and movement forced on the listener in an experience that compels, demands, attention, beats hardwired directly into yr skull. Do people dance to this?

Wicked Witch - Chaos 1978-86

This is a truly odd record that seems to have taken a whole heap of influences, mixed in a dose of oddness and churned out this dirty, funky and downright heavy collection. I suppose it's safe to say that funk is the main influence along with use of some early electronica and a real lo-fi recording aesthetic add to the atmosphere. At times the results are a little off-key and not too easy on the ear "X-Rated" being a case in point. I find it interesting that "Vera's Back," was recorded in 1978, which shows the earlier material had a different focus. This stuff's effed up, like Prince on cocaine.
Mickey Newbury - A Long Road Home (2002)
Tearjerking country from sadly departed country great Mickey Newbury. A Long Road Home is the last album that Newbury completed before his death in September of 2002, and his preoccupation with mortality and half-bitter, misty-eyed retrospection certainly gives the listener the impression that he knew that it might be his final musical statement. His gentle picking and quavering voice are given a lush backdrop of violin, cello, synthesizer, banjo, mandolin, piano, and ethereal backing vocals. While all of the songs are strong, the real gems here are the over 10-minute-long first and penultimate tracks, each of which is an incredible showcase of weatherbeaten, downcast, big-hearted, bittersweet songwriting.
Glitterbug - Privilege (2010)
A sprawling double album of minimal, narcotized but propulsive ambient techno from this Cologne-based producer. Twenty abstract, repetitive compositions consisting of simple beats, pulsing synths, and atmospheric washes. I recommend headphones and a drug of your choice.
THEESatisfaction - awE naturalE (2012)
>r&b, hip-hop, Neo-Soul, Nu-Jazz
Do not approach this album with the notion that it will be a fun party or an easy walk in the park, because it most definitely is not. A fresh breath of rare air, they sound like futuristic aliens who have captured the energy of avant-garde hip hop and truly made it their own. Awfully short, it swims into your ears and then ebbs away before you can even really grasp just what you've listened to. One of the most striking things about awE naturalE is just how truly unique it is. Loose comparisons can be made to other artists past and present, but there really is nothing else out there like THEESatisfaction. Original instrumentation and samples are merged together to create the basis of each track. Very heady, cerebral stuff here.
Dave Pike - Carnavals (1962)

This compilation contains the albums: Bossa Nova Carnival, and Limbo Carnival
Bossa Nova Carnival is a caressing, sensuous collection of songs by Brazilian composer João Donato, the grittier Limbo Carnival has more of a Caribbean orientation. Afro-Cuban salsa is an influence on Limbo Carnival, but calypso is an even greater influence -- and Pike, taking a hint from Sonny Rollins, combines jazz with calypso on Rollins' "St. Thomas" and Charlie Parker's "My Little Suede Shoes," as well as two songs that were hits for Harry Belafonte: "Matilda" and "Jamaica Farewell."

Ghetto Brothers - Power-Fuerza (1972)

The Ghetto Brothers started as a Latin Bronx, N.Y. street gang, but under the leadership of Benjamin Menendez became a positive community organization by using their music to help foster peace between rival gangs. Menendez and his Ghetto Brothers created peace treaties, treated their women respectfully, tutored local children, and hosted block parties. Probably the nicest street gang in history, right? Musically, the Ghetto Brothers sound like one of their famous block parties. It's exciting, carefree, positive, and all around fun.
Baby Face Willette - Face To Face (1961)
An excellent album, great playing on a somewhat unconventional instrument, the organ, with really exceptional saxophone playing backing it up. "Baby Face" Willette plays the organ with gospel influences which are interesting but with a different saxophonist Face To Face might have been just another organ Jazz album. Tenor saxophonist Fred Jackson is scintillating. He makes the album worth re-visiting, bringing out the edge in the other musicians. His sound is tailor-made for Soul-Jazz.
Bill Withers - Just as I Am 
>Smooth Soul, Singer/Songwriter, R&B
Bill Withers is one of the all-time great voices in music history (in my top 5). His voice is so effortless. It just strolls up from his stomach, through his throat and out his mouth like it came around to check the time. Bill is up there with the great Sam Cooke, as far as I'm concerned. Just As I Am is pure soul, but it also reaches out to the folk and rock community without compromising itself. This is an equally great album for someone looking to build a soul collection of their own but they don't know where to begin, or for someone who just wants to hear something fresh and original - a real change of pace. It's as if Bill Withers treated Just As I Am as his one shot at being heard - his one shot at expressing himself - and as such he held absolutely nothing back.
Gil Scott-Heron/Brian Jackson - Winter in America (1974)
>Soul, Jazz-Funk, Spoken Word
Gil Scott Heron and Brian Jackson are a great partnership - two guys with very compatible styles, both play electric piano (Fender Rhodes of course, and Jackson also plays some regular piano), and they both have a knack for blending jazz and soul to the point that there's no distinction between the two. They're joined here on several songs by Danny Bowens on bass and Bob Adams on drums. There aren't any sweaty funk workouts (not that Brian and Gil aren't capable), and other than the occasional flute popping up here and there, it's a very restrained and understated record, focusing mainly on a set of earthy, jazzy, soul ballads.

Jimmy Ruffin - Ruff 'n Ready (1969)
Jimmy Ruffin's second Motown album is a classic and includes many of his hits. Familiar sounding brass and percussion (if you're a Motown fan), with Jimmy’s vocals easily shimming over the beat, often harsh, yet endearing. There is no filler on this fabulous album, which has to be Jimmy's best. The tracks come from Motown's most prolific period. They are so good, that it is a shame that Jimmy lived in the shadow of those other Motown singers Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.

VA - Carnival Northern Soul (2009)

Killer cuts from Carnival records. Northern Soul is a music and dance movement that emerged from the British mod scene, initially in northern England in the late 1960s. Northern Soul mainly consisted of a particular style of black American soul music based on the heavy beat and fast tempo of the mid-1960s Motown sound. he 26 tracks highlight singles issued between 1964 and 1974 (though just a couple tracks postdate 1970), mostly by artists unknown beyond soul collector circles, with the exception of the Manhattans (represented by "There Goes a Fool" and "All I Need Is Your Love," from 1964 and 1967 respectively).

Nice vocal harmonies, frenetic percussion, vibrant and airy tracks that remind people of other contemporaries like Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear. There's something so sweet, so savory, and so satisfying about Local Natives that no one seems to mind the fact that their music isn't exactly groundbreaking.
La Revolución de Emiliano Zapata - S/T (1971)
>Psych Rock, Acid Rock, Blues
Great guitar driven hard rock with English vocals, and a very crude, garage style of production. This will hold it's greatest appeal among garage fans. It's genuine and fresh. There was so much good music being made in the early 70's that jems like this were overlooked, and didn't get airplay.
Burning Spear - Marcus' Children (1978)
>Roots Reggae, Afro-Jazz
Those who dismiss reggae as a form of music with little depth clearly haven't heard this. Some of the best production I have ever heard on a reggae LP. The sounds are simply huge and so clear. Not only that the melodies and hidden little treats floating around the main rhythms make for a really engaging listen. Add to that some of reggae's strongest songwriting and most recognisable voices make this record one for even the most casual fan. I really do wish there were more records like this in terms of brevity these days too.
Kelela - Cut 4 Me (2013)
>Contemporary R&B, UK Bass, Neo-Soul
Call me crazy, but is this not one of the best albums of the year? It's an album that's unashamed to embrace heartache and emptiness, not only lyrically but musically as well. The production sometimes seems to barely have a pulse at all. It's like getting dumped, lying in bed hating the world for letting you down and just listening to the rhythm of your own heartbeat and the slightly out of balance ceiling fan, only you know, with vocals too.
Tracy Chapman - Tracy Chapman 
This album perfectly segued the transition from the female singer/songwriter persona of the 80's to the more mature, angsty female that emerged out of nowhere in the 90's. Tracy's music is a very delicate mix of confessional, inspirational lyrics, backed by simple, yet effective instrumentation. Her voice is somewhat of a hybrid of Joan Armatrading and Nina Simone. The album has everything in the way of inspiration and emotion, for what it is it's amazing. There is no use or point in comparing because as an album it stands alone. Flawless from beginning to end, it's like being in heaven. Uplifting and mesmerising.
DJ Quik - Quik is the Name (1991)

As California came into fame in the hip-hop scene and started to take over as the 90s came, young Compton native resident, DJ Quik also followed suit and started to do his own thing with his own posse of weed-carriers. Original, funky, it IS California rap my friends. DJ Quik is a pioneer of California gangsta rap, and this record is a shining star. The beats on this record are top notch, from "Born and Raised in Compton" to "Tonite" each song is a trip to the streets of Compton, with DJ Quik as your guide. He isn't preaching to ya, he's just showing you a good time.
Blind Willie Johnson - The Complete Blind Willie Johnson (1993)

I have always been a firm believer that Robert Johnson is THE god of Blues and that everyone else was just playing second fiddle. I encountered Blind Willie Johnson for the first time hearing "Let Your Light Shine On Me" and was pretty impressed by the rawness of his sound and by the amount of emotion he managed to put into one song. One of the most intense bass voice, spiritual lyrics and some phenomenal, if understated guitar, and I've found something to rival Robert Johnson. I would say God bless Blind Willie Johnson, but he was clearly blessed regardless.

Giygas Gedraai - LAN DANCE ????? SNSET
John Holt - Police In Helicopter
>Reggae, Rocksteady, Roots, Dancehall
Known for his smooth rocksteady "reggae for lovers" style, John Holt made a significant deviation from this ethos with this 1983 album. This is a one and only offering of this kind from Holt, for he immediately returned to the rocksteady end of the reggae spectrum after this. I really wish he would have continued to put out more roots. But alas, at least we have this reggae classic.
Ghorwane – Majurugenta (1993)
In the hot and dusty Gaza province of Mozambique there is a small lake called Ghorwane that never runs dry, even in the hottest season. In 1983, a group of young musicians in Maputo, took the name Ghorwane as they launched their musical career. Today they are one of Mozambique’s most respected bands. Ghorwane chose to base their music on traditional Mozambican rhythms, combined with Afropop and fusion. This is their excellent debut album, with heavy political and societal criticisms tagged with lively, beautiful playing.
The Fugs - The Village Fugs Sing Ballads of Contemporary Protest, Point of Views, and General Dissatisfaction [aka First Album] (1965)

I think The Fugs have to be one of the most under-appreciated groups of the 60s - most people know their name and some of their songs but nobody knows their influence. They must have been the first DIY rock group going - at their early shows they played whatever they could get their hands on, like whacking a cardboard box with a brush for percussion. This isn't an album you put on when you want to hear music. This is for those occasions when you want to laugh and cry simultaneously at the wonder and utter absurdity of the world. I can't believe that something this profane and hilarious came out way back in 1965. It even predates Zappa.

Lightnin' Hopkins - Lightnin' Strikes (1962)

Hands-down, my favorite blues album. There are a couple of (awesome) full band tracks, but it's mostly just the man and his guitar, wailing his pain into the night sky. It's stripped down, the recording's blown out, and ample use of reverb gives the whole affair a haunted, nocturnal feel. After the lively opening track, it becomes one of Hopkins's darkest, most haunted records. So good it hurts.
little-scale - I Am Still Breathing

little-scale is an Austrailian chiptune artist who likes to fuck around with various systems. I Am Still Breathing is a peaceful and surprisingly deep album. The whole album can also be 100% authentically played on real Genesis/Mega Drive hardware, unlike other "chiptunes" you may have heard out there which go beyond the hardware's limitations.
The Platters - Golden Hits (1986)

SEAGULLS - Great Pine (2014)

Great Pine was recorded mostly over the Summer of 2012 in Derek's cabin named "Woodside," deep in the West Virginian woods. It's sound is a mixture of surf and folk rock, often sparsely augmented with electronic textures, and features layered vocal harmonies. Great Pine's themes include 2D planes, dogs, arcade games and Earth.

Recorded in a converted chicken shack using stomps, a tambourine, and a can of nails as the percussion because of the limited space. shout out to aeroplane of lsd for sharing it a while ago. i really liked it.
This is probably my favorite Japanese band behind Boris.

Well-judged vocal features, vaults into French filter house, hints of grime and even some percussive elements that nod to trap rap. Much of it is either in contrast to, or someway ahead of, the dance music popular in the charts right now but you don't get the impression that DJ Q himself is trying to highlight these distinctions. In terms of sheer technical brilliance and joy, it can more than stand up to any other UK dance or pop album around it.
Deep Purple - S/T (1969)

This record is much more 60s sounding meaning it is quite psychedelic in parts, also progressive, classical and some bluesy elements added to the Hard Rock/proto Heavy Metal. In fact for 1969 this can be called Heavy Metal, even if it doesn't sound like what came later it still has those seeds/elements which were instrumental in the creation of Metal music. This style actually shows how good they are as musicians just as well if not better than the later heavy stuff. The band really shines here. Just enjoy the psychedelic ride!
Simon Finn - Pass the Distance (1970)

Songs lurch through psycho-ward strums accompanied by campfire third-eye improvisations. Even the two sides of the album’s cover – a lightly abstracted picture of a scrappy pair walking on a forest pathway headed to the horizon as seen from behind and its psychedelic flip-image with the two figures’ faces exploding in mask-like grimaces as the space around them flares with dreamstate hallucinations – suggests the slow crumble of liminal partitions. I'm not kidding when I say this has some of the most beautiful folk songs I've listened to

Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov - The Tsar's Bride (Gergiev, Kirov Opera & Orchestra)

Perhaps the reason lies with its convoluted plot, which in turn is thickened by a wordy, sometimes static libretto. A succession of set pieces governs the musical structure, at the risk of dramatic diversion. Gryaznoy, the opera's villainous protagonist, bears the brunt of the opera's narrative weight, and Dmitri Hvorostovsky's multi-dimensional portrayal abounds in sonorous felicities. Olga Borodina brings equal proportions of defiance and delicacy to the role of Lyubasha, Gryaznoy's lover. Her nemesis Marfa gets a rather unyielding, but intense performance from Marina Shaguch, and the suave Evgeny Akimov stands out as Marfa's paramour Lykov. Valery Gergiev has this score in his bones, and communicates its musical and dramatic potency to the hilt through the good graces of his responsive Kirov musicians. All told, this is one of the finest releases in Gergiev's important Russian opera survey. Full texts and translations are included.

Haydn - Piano Sonatas (Brendel)
