Serious question: is there another hip-hop artist who composes beats anywhere near Kanye's level?
Madlib is beyond Kanye's level
I like Kanye but that beat is awful. Out of the few of his collabs I've heard, this is my favorite and one of my favorite beats of his. It also takes me back so hard.
What's your problem man?
Dilla was incredibly talented, one of those virtuoso-type musicians who seem to have been born to create music. Undoubtedly, Kanye is a great producer, but he tends to rely on other artists to provide him with material to augment/alter to achieve his final product. The person who posted this is probably trolling, but to suggest that Kanye is the greatest producer in hip-hop is kind of disrespectful to the greats, like Dilla.
In addition to the aforementioned:
Mobb Deep, Mos Def, Digable Planets, The Bomb Squad, J-Swift, Clams Casino, Yung Gud, Friendzone, Yung Sherman, Suicideyear, MF DOOM, Blue Sky Black Death, Lil Ugly Mane
you need to relisten through Kanye's discog if you seriously believe that. Half of these guys don't even have enough material to be considered. They also pretty much all just have one sound. Kanye has made all sorts of beats that are all quality.
Nightmares On Wax
I don't understand you kanye fags, does kanye really have to be the be all end all of music and rap period? Any time someone even suggests that kanye is not the best by a landside, the kanyefag butthurt begins to flow. I mean he really can't just be a "good" artist you guys like, he literally has to be THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME?
>no Organized Noize
also, not rap, but legendary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WEtxJ4-sh4
for that matter, Outkast themselves have made better beats than Kanye on a number of occasions.
every memerapper sounds the same
all rap is memerap, the only "music" basketball-americans can do is memerap
kanye "talentless hack" west is on the same level as all memerappers because all rap is memerap and that's cheaper/inferior version of music because they can't into real music, they can't into singing
all they do is memerap because all blacks are too dumb to make actual music
this. It's fucking pathetic, I know.
>Undoubtedly, Kanye is a great producer, but he tends to rely on other artists to provide him with material to augment/alter to achieve his final product.
To not collaborate with whomever you think will make the final product better means you're not doing your job as well as you can.
Kanye's beats to me are always way more interesting and memorable than Dilla's. To me Donuts is one of the most overrated hip hop albums.
>muh middle school days
man i was such a cool kid listening to this album on the bus
just because a production team has made certain beats better than certain others of an artist doesn't make them a better artist.. Simon Says is my favourite beat of all time, but that doesn't make Pharoe a better producer than Premo
*tosses my fedora in the air*
u could have prevented this
*slices ur baka gaijin body with superior Japanese steel*
ur not fit for this world
*catches fedora and places it on my head like a gentleman*
>people on a music board who consider themselves music experts actually think this
>implying the actual digging to find said samples isn't half the skill
god when will moot make a /hh/ board so we can be rid of you morons
clams casino, pic related is GOAT
I wish he'd switch it up already. He's shown no type of progression as a producer for well over 2 decades. Not quite as bad as DJ Premier but he's getting there.
*swiftly pulls out throwing stars*
>*tosses my fedora in the air*
*do a 360 cape twirl*
>u could have prevented this
this is what you wanted
>*slices ur baka gaijin body with superior japanese steel*
*performs a matrix maneuver, dodges your weeb tactics*
>ur not fit for this world
*stares back with a grin*
>*catches fedora and places it on my head like a gentleman*
*immediately throws 2 throwing stars aimed directly at said fedora*
*fedora falls off head, torn to pieces by my euphoric throwing stars*
you may be a gentleman, but i am the supreme gentleman
But Kanye has many beats as good as that
>Never Let You Down
>We Don't Care
>The New Workout Plan
>Through the Wire
>Heard Em Say
>Heart of the City (Jay Hyphen)
>The Food (Common)
>They Say (Common)
>Chi City (Common)
>Drunk and Hot Girls
>Everything I Am
>Welcome to Heartbreak
>The Cool (Lupe Fiasco)
It's like in the backlash and hate against his dickriders everyone has completely forgotten or ignored how many unique and and awesome beats Kanye has done
So I finally listened to MBDTF and it was shit.
"Oh look at me I made a fool of myself at an awards show but I'm the victim holy shit look how many samples I can shove into this album!"
I'm a huge fan of hip hop in general but I do legitimately believe Kanye is the best producer in hip hop. I've just never heard anyone with the ability to make beats as consistently excellent as his are, I don't dislike a single beat on any of his albums and none of the ones he's worked on outside of his own albums.
But I liked Yeezus so feel free to disregard my opinion completely
if we're talking mainstream
then pharell and timba
have been more influential than kanye in the last 15 years
He's honestly got the most unique source of samples that I'm aware of. Looking at DG on whosampled is entertaining. Kanye just uses soul music for the most part, besides a Daft Punk song, Can, and that Romanian song at the end of one of his.
I remember this album blowing my mind and thinking Kno was the best producer since Primo
but his sound never really changed
>that 21st century schizoid man sample on power
still an amazing surprise to this day
do you think kanye actually listened to the whole in the court of the crimson king album? i'd love to hear him sample the court of the crimson king somehow.
>mfw kanye rock album after the graduation sequel
pls don't be lil wayne
oh yeah he's sampled Mike Oldfield, Crimson, Can, Emerson Lake and Palmer (I think) and a cool band called Mandrill
People on /mu/ say Kanyefags are like that way more often than Kanyefags are actually like that.
His resume commands respect >>47198180
I'm surprised Just Blaze hasnt been mentioned yet
