For the person that velmetly hates this album here, what do you think about
Third Stream/Experimental Big Band in general? Is the entire movement worthless or is this just an overhyped passionless example? What are some classical composers (other than Gerswhin) that sound similar to Mingus?
Pic related to grab your attention, though Let My Children Hear Music is personally my favorite jazz album of all time.
Nah, I love third stream/experimental big band. I just don't like how much Mingus restricts his players on his albums in this style so there's less of an opportunity to display creativity in terms of improvisation.
A lot of my favorite jazz stuff is in this style (Variations In Dreamtime, City Of Glass, Ten Freedom Summers, Synovial Joints are all very obviously third stream meanwhile some of the stuff I like from guys like Jimmy Giuffre and Anthony Braxton is considered heavily classical influenced as well.)
As for classical composers, check out (with recommended works)
Moondog - s/t
Leonard Bernstein - Symphony No. 2
Maurice Ravel - Piano Concerto In G Major
Dmitri Shostakonvich - Tahiti Trot
All of these have a ton of horns with some piano and strings akin to Mingus' stuff. There's obviously other jazz influenced classical out there as well, but these are what you may wanna go for the most.
Give it up, the majority of the board is aware by now, or what's left of it. And perhaps you're taking things a little worse than you should - this isn't a smooth "jazz" album, it's Mingus for crying out loud.

Aware of what? The fact that I always start it off with a copypasta because I don't want to waste my time writing the same thing over and over again? If you go check the archives, you'll notice that every time people have seriously responded to it, I have engaged them in discussion.
It's always half rhymes where just the final vowel sound matches up, or rhyming a grunt or yo with itself or god forbid just mumbling and botching pronunciation.
Like for fuck sake isn't this an important thing in rap? Put some effort in
The thing is a lot of people are actually very good at rhyming things for some reason they aren't nearly as popular
I thought that's how people decide what is good but apparently not
>>74721215
What's catchy is what becomes popular, unfortunately. Catchy and accessible is what makes tha $$$

Look up Milo, he's pretty clever with the words he uses. He seems pretty pretentious even, but I like him.
Irish and Scottish slaves taught black slaves how to play guitar. The blues pentatonic scale is just the Irish folk pentatonic scale with one extra note added, possibly by a white guitarists, possibly a black student.
I think the multiculturalism of blues and jazz is great. Black musicians adopted Celtic music traditions as their own. Do they properly attribute the origin of blues to Celts though?
I attribute your mouth to my asshole
>"the blues" is only the pentatonic blues scale
Show me some Celtic music where they use the blues scale (not just the pentatonic blues scale" over top of some progressions using only the I7, IV7, and V7 chords
Until then, feel free to stop making these threads
