So I heard and loved Beck's NYC 73-78 Glass 'remix', and had watched the Baraka, Koyanisqaatsi films and knew he scored them and loved them too
So I went and downloaded a ~4GB discography of his
But i really dont know where to start with it
This doesn't help too much either, as far as i can tell:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_compositions_by_Philip_Glass
Anyone able to suggest a way to navigate?
thanks
If you want "old Glass", Einstein on the Beach is his "masterpiece". When he made Glassworks he deliberately moved towards a more commercial sound that would appeal to pop music listeners. It worked.
>>74932742
cheers
are those the two main 'periods' he has?
Glass is a hack, Steve Reich and Terry Riley are far better in terms of minimalist composition and composition in general
What music would she listen to?

Can someone provide the archive for the thread
Literally perfect.
I also really enjoy this album, however this is against the /mu/ hivemind so I think we should both reassess.
>>74931726
great album
>>74931726
to you, for everyone else, no
>>74931590
Illmatic is a solid 7, the true god level hip hop album is MADVILLIANY
>>74931590
36 Chambers is better.
>WE WISH WE WERE DEAD
I don't get it, why do so many people love this line/the stanza preceding it?
>>74931540
For me it's just an extremely cathartic experience. The first time I listened to I Don't Love I was in tears. When it got to Earthmover, the whole part of "When their earthen mouths will open up.." gave me inmese solace. Then when the drone began I was just completely awestruck and mesmerised.
I believe the final line being "we wish we were dead" is the logic conclusion to the whole album and the themes it explores.
It's one of my favorite album.
Can somebody recommend me similar ones ?
I listened to the rest of Dan's work but even "The Unnatural World" don't come close.
I liked "Voids" tho, best version of defenestration song.
>>74932846
Same anon, same.
Giles Corey is also up there for me. I love that too.
I haven't found something close to these two albums.
Please rec me something

(4chan in a nutshell)
This is popular singer/songwriter Katy Perry. Say something nice about her!
>>74930766
Swish swish bich
i liked her first handful of popular singles
>>74930766
Teenage Dream and California Girls are 2 of the best mainstream Pop songs of the 2010s
now that the dust has settled, we can all agree they were terrible right?
Waiting for the End and Breakimg the Habit I unironically enjoy. Rest is blegh though
>>74930631
Yea, they've been pretty terrible from the beginning. Rip fucked up manchild man
Ironically, the only song i like is Battle Symphony
Really any popular music as unlike classical or jazz there's no meaningful difference between any track.
they don't sound all the same c'mon
Rage Against the Machine
woah this sucks
it does
>>74930508
RTJ3 is their best
