ALICE IN CHAINS/GENERAL
Iv'e been predominantly into hip hop/rap for the past few years. Recently, I've been trying to open myself up to more new styles of music, and holy shit I'm missing so much you guys. When I was a poser little kid I liked the main singles from mostly any metal song played on the radio, such as metallica, nirvana, smashing pumpkins (kek), korn (triplekek).
Just recently I started listening to more grunge, metal-esque rock from the
early/mid 90s era. There is so much emotion and intent that goes into making songs like those, I feel like I've been selling myself short listening to (c)rap this long. You guys have any suggestions for a budding grunge/metal fan? For reference, I really enjoy A.I.C. album dirt, namely Them Bones, Rooster, Angry Chair.
Any noteworthy songs from their other albums?
>inb4 man in the box
Any similar bands?
Have any members done side projects that are worth a listen?

Are there any contemporary classical composers who don't write in an atonal or minimalistic style?
>>75010819
concert band counts as classical so yes, lots
how about some cool atonal or microtonal avantgarde type of stuff?

Which one was their least shittiest?
>>75010753
The King of Limbs. I understand the negative reception, I just think it had nice ideas and it's second half is pretty nice to sink my melody teeth into.
>least shittiest
KoL. No good albums include the word "Pablo" in the title.
>>75010753
Stupid ass thread. KOL is legitimately great, second half is one of their best runs ever
Post good music.

I feel like rap died (in terms of being popular mainstream wise) for a while there since maybe 2006, before this guy and Kendrick hit the scene.

Absolutely not. Graduation/Curtis hype in 2007. Tha Carter III circlejerk of 2008. Empire State of Mind coming out of every car stereo in 2009. Drake debuting in 2010. Wiz Khalifa, A$AP Rocky, and Big Sean all rising to prominence in 2011. So on and so forth.
Hip-hop has had a pretty huge following after 2006 if anything, all leading up to today.
